How do I qualify to vote in Governance?

To vote, you must actively participate in the Network. On VeChainThor, voting is reserved for stakers. Visit StarGate to create your own Node and join the process

How Governance works

01

Support phase

An idea is shared on Discourse, ideally evolving into a VIP. At this stage, the proposal needs to gather support from the community.

02

Proposal creation

A new proposal is created, linking the relevant Discourse discussion and, optionally, any related VIPs. It includes key details such as the start and end of the voting period. Only whitelisted accounts can create new proposals to protect on-chain governance from malicious activity.

03

Promotion phase

The new proposal is announced and promoted on social media through VeChain’s official channels.

04

Approval phase

Community members will vote on the proposal. If the quorum is reached and the majority votes in favor, the proposal will be approved. The results will then be publicly announced.

05

Execution phase

VeChain or other designated entities will carry out the necessary off-chain actions to implement the proposal. Once the change has been completed, VeChain will mark the proposal as Executed and provide proof of completion, such as a transaction or block link on a block explorer.
