Caleb Sponheim Ph.D. is a Senior Experience Specialist and AI Lead with Nielsen Norman Group. A former computational neuroscientist, his expertise includes quantitative user experience research, statistics, analytics, and data science. He is a subject-matter expert in artificial intelligence.
Prior to NN/g, Caleb worked as a graduate researcher at the University of Chicago. As a member of the Hatsopoulos Lab, he investigated the link between brain activity and complex movement and built brain-machine interfaces to restore movement in patients with spinal cord injuries. He has also conducted research at several premier institutions, including Veteran’s Affairs, the University of Minnesota, NASA, the National Institutes of Health.
Caleb holds a Doctorate in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Neuroscience from Grinnell College.
Outside of work, Caleb enjoys running, cycling, and interior design.
Caleb is based in Durham, North Carolina.
