"I chose Europe to develop next generation solid-state batteries, because we have the right partners here to help us scale the technology." Meet Fanny Barde, a French scientist and Co-Founder and CTO of SOLiTHOR, based in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. She is developing next-generation solid-state batteries, expected to be 30% lighter and significantly safer than conventional batteries, opening new possibilities for aviation, satellites and beyond. With support from Horizon Europe, the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking, and the European Regional Development Fund, Fanny found in Europe the right partners and ecosystem to take her technology from lab to market. One of the winners of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2025, her story shows what it means to Choose Europe to Start and Scale: building on world-class research, connecting with the right partners and developing technologies that can make a difference. Her story will feature in the opening video of the Choose Europe Conference in Munich on 3 December. Stay tuned! #ChooseEurope

A quick word on the future of Interreg | Episode 1/5 Moray Gilland and Nathalie Verschelde say what Interreg should keep for the post 2027 period: joint solutions at its heart, as visible and tangible as possible. Interreg does not necessarily need to do very different things from the last decades, but it can be a bit more strategic and focus more on permanent changes that make life in cross-border areas easier and richer for citizens. They also want more focus on results, and on showing what has been done. Along the EU's external borders, they call for closer partnerships in which every partner is treated as an equal. #Interreg #CrossBorderCooperation #FutureOfInterreg
