Who is "Your Person?"

Who is "Your Person?"

Who is “your person,” the person you can count on to always be there? Who considers you “their person?” Whether you are a heroic essential worker or staying in place, nothing is the same and you could be surrounded by people, but still feel alone. Please take time this weekend to call your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or anyone you know who lives alone. We all need that person in our life who doesn't agree or disagree or offer their solution, but instead listens to us to understand where we're coming from. Think about who the best listener is in your life, and they are more than likely "your person."

There is no right or wrong way to react to this new normal. In fact, there is nothing normal about what is going on all around us. You may be connecting through Zoom, Video Conferencing, Skype or other online resources, but are you expressing your feelings, or do you always put on your happy face?

Rather than just thanking the cashier at my grocery store this morning, I asked her how she was doing. Her eyes filled with tears and she explained she was a single mom who had to work, but she was terrified. We talked about her daily routine to keep herself and her three children safe and how frustrating it was to come home from work, fix dinner and then have to review their virtual school work. As I was leaving, she said “I wish I could hug you, I’m not sure why, but I feel much better.” As I was walked back to my car, I realized I felt better too. Being there for someone else is a very rewarding experience.

I've spent my life in the Recruiting Profession, and every day my goal is to help others improve their lives. During my recent conversations with my clients and candidates, I've discovered that most of them are overwhelmed by uncertainty and many are reevaluating their priorities. They all appreciated the chance to talk openly about their concerns without being judged. A simple phone call proves that you are not only there for others in good times, but also during one of the most challenging times the world has ever faced.

Enjoy your conversations this weekend and I encourage you to share a story about “your person” below.  #staffingandrecruitingtraining #staffing #staffingsolutions #recruiters #talentacquisition #recruitmentindustry #yourperson #feelingalone

'My person' and I chat more now than we've ever chatted with one another over the past 30some years. It's so critical to have some one to lean on.
