DWCS AUG/SEPT NEWSLETTER 2025

Happy (almost) Fall ~

Summer is almost over... can you believe it? That short period between school letting out for what kids dream about, to heading back into the classroom. Palm Beach County schools returned to classes last week. Add a few minutes to your morning drive for school bus traffic.

Something for everyone

  • Aug 17 International Geocaching Day
  • Aug 17 World Honeybee Day
  • Aug 25 Kiss-and-Make-Up Day
  • Aug 26 Women's Equality Day (still )
  • Aug 27 World Rock, Paper, Scissors Day
  • Sept 01 Labor Day (yes)
  • Sept 17 Constitution Day (important)
  • Sept 19 International Talk Like A Pirate Day

It's interesting to note that as we celebrate our 14th DWCS Anniversary over the summer, it is now the norm for all professionals to have a LinkedIn profile. What remains the same over those years is the number of members who are not aware of how to use the platform to their best advantage for branding, marketing, & job seeking. Contact us for details! We love what we do, and we can help you.

We are excited to attend the NAMMBA Connect25 Conference in Orlando this week and look forward to seeing many mortgage industry associates and clients on Friday.

October will take us to Las Vegas to offer LinkedIn Rapid Reviews at our 13th Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) conference. Visit MBAannual25 to check the schedule and watch for the link to reserve your on-site Profile Review. See you soon!

Check out our LinkedIn Tips for some must-do edits to your profile and strategies.

What's old is new again. Did you see the WSJ article about how AI is causing a return to old-school, in-person interviews? HR says candidates are finding it easy to cheat during the application process when skills are tested, especially in the engineering and tech fields.

Wishing everyone a smooth entry into Fall!

With gratitude,

Debbie Wemyss (weemz)

LINKEDIN TIPS AND MORE

TIP 1 - WHAT TO POST/HOW TO FEED THE ALGORITHM

Posting doesn't need to be difficult. Keep it simple and try these suggestions:

  1. Share things of value - something you find interesting that your network might enjoy, news items, factoids, company news, career announcements, new products/services from your business, events you host or attend, press releases, etc.
  2. Be authentic! If you use AI, be sure to leave 'some of yourself' in the text. And be certain to check final AI results for correctness.
  3. Most important: Content, Consistency, and Value
  4. Remember: The algorithm wants and rewards engagement. You want readers to react and comment. Be sure to acknowledge them when they do - at minimum, like their Comment and/or respond to it for better traction.

TIP 2 - CLOSE OUT YOUR 'OPEN SESSIONS'

When did you last check to learn how many Active Sessions you've left open on LinkedIn? (Have you ever?!) Easy steps to further secure your LinkedIn account:

Navigation bar - top right > tap Me > Settings & Privacy > on L, tap Sign in & Security > in the middle, tap Where you're signed in > close out multiple sessions. You will need your password to do this.

TIP 3 - JOB SEEKING? LET COMPANIES KNOW YOU'RE INTERESTED

As you Search LinkedIn Pages to view Companies of interest, be sure to look for the 'I'm Interested' option displayed under the Jobs tab. The current jobs listed may not be a fit, but tapping this option will put you on the radar of their HR department for future opportunities.

TIP 4 - WAS OUR LAST COACHING SESSION OVER 18 MONTHS AGO?

You may want to learn about our Client Refresher Session. A complete update to your LinkedIn Profile in less time for less money. Contact us for details

TIP 5 - KATIE WINCHENBACH'S LEAD FEARLESSLY PODCAST

Season 3, Ep 11 - I was interviewed by Katie Winchenbach, a Regional Legal Counsel for Motorola Solutions in Maine and founder of Lead Fearlessly, a collection of podcasts to empower rising women leaders to unleash their inner strength and embrace leadership with confidence. Enjoy! Listen here
