Microsoft to invest ~$30B in the UK (2025–28). A scale bet on UK AI demand, a more predictable policy, and hopefully an energy backdrop: -$15B to expand cloud/AI infrastructure, including a >23k-GPU AI supercomputer; -$15B to UK ops (MSR Cambridge, AI London, gaming, services). -This is separate from Stargate/OpenAI. Unclear exactly how much is incremental, unplanned spend, but I think half is "new" money, the CAPEX.

Microsoft is betting big on UK AI capacity. Time to take note. They have committed $30bn between 2025 and 2028 into UK AI infrastructure and supercomputing. This is not just investment. It is a signal. Infrastructure bottlenecks cost speed, reliability and innovation. If your plans depend on AI models, cloud performance or data at scale, you need to understand the backbone. It is not enough to use AI. You need the capacity to scale without breaking. That is where competitive advantage will live. https://lnkd.in/dEYca4vT #AIInfrastructure #DigitalStrategy #BusinessGrowth

Microsoft has secured a $19.4 billion deal with Nebius Group NV, giving it access to more than 100,000 of Nvidia’s latest GB300 chips, Bloomberg reported. The move is designed to address the global shortage of AI data center capacity and will allow Microsoft to redirect its own servers toward delivering AI services to customers. The agreement is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to lean on neocloud providers for rapid AI infrastructure expansion. The company has already committed over $33 billion to firms like CoreWeave, Nscale, Lambda and Nebius, which specialize in leasing AI-focused server power. This approach helps Microsoft scale quickly without waiting for new data centers to be built. “We are in very much land-grab mode in the AI space,” said Scott Guthrie, head of Microsoft’s cloud division. “We’ve made the decision that we don’t want to be constrained in terms of capacity.” Analysts note that these neocloud partnerships also give Microsoft flexibility by treating costs as operational expenses rather than heavy capital investments. Following the announcement, Nebius shares rose 5.5 percent in New York trading, while Microsoft’s stock remained largely unchanged. The deal underscores Microsoft’s aggressive push to secure computing power as AI demand continues to surge worldwide.

In his latest Cloud Wars Minute Kieron Allen discusses the news that Microsoft invests $30B over four years in the UK’s #AI infrastructure — a signal that the UK is serious about being a global AI leader. With Satya Nadella, @Tim Cook , Jensen Huang, and @Sam Altman present during the announcement, the weight of U.S. #tech involvement is clear. Still, as #CEOs like Roland Busch and Christian Klein point out, policy frameworks matter. Will Europe and the U.K. move fast enough with supportive laws to keep up? https://lnkd.in/daksKWmH
