Building a real-time digital twin of the Earth for weather prediction is computationally demanding. When Jua set out to simulate Earth’s physics, they knew training runs would stretch for months. In this environment, even a single cluster failure can lead to costly delays and extensive rework. After facing reliability challenges across three other AI cloud providers, Jua moved its large-scale training workloads to Nebius AI Cloud to develop their Earth Physics Transformer (EPT-2) model without interruption. Thanks to Nebius AI's stable infrastructure powered by NVIDIA GPUs and high-speed NVIDIA InfiniBand networking, Jua can focus on orchestrating higher-quality data, refining model architecture, and expanding what EPT-2 can simulate. Now, EPT-2 delivers hourly global weather forecasts at 6x higher temporal and spatial resolution, outperforming comparable #AI models, and is vastly better than traditional numerical forecasting models. One promising research direction is training storage systems to think ahead: predicting what data an AI workload will need before it asks and recognizing what kind of work is running so the system can optimize itself in real time. Nebius and Bloom Energy have announced a partnership to deploy Bloom’s clean fuel cells to power Nebius’s AI infrastructure build-out. Nebius selected Bloom for its fast time to power, clean, virtually non-polluting technology, and ability to support the extreme performance demands of AI workloads. The first project with 328 MW of installed capacity is expected to be operational this year, eliminating the need for reciprocating engines at the site. Bloom’s fuel cells generate electricity without combustion, making them highly efficient with low emissions and minimal water use, supporting Nebius’s strategy to scale AI infrastructure with a lower environmental footprint. Andrey Korolenko, Chief Product and Infrastructure Officer at Nebius said: “Power remains a key constraint for AI infrastructure build-outs. We chose Bloom because their fuel cells solve that directly: Clean power with virtually no pollutants is deployed onsite, on the timelines our customers need, with the availability AI workloads require.
