An experiment in using AI for education took an unexpected turn. Giving students AI tools to answer questions was intended to enhance learning. Instead, many students used AI to simply generate answers without true understanding, leading to poor test results and frustration for everyone involved. ReachEveryStudent.com This highlights a critical challenge: how do we leverage new technologies like AI to foster genuine learning, rather than enabling superficial shortcuts? #EdTech #AIinEducation #Learning #Teaching #FutureofLearning

We are bringing together the science of reading and the power of artificial intelligence. Backed by a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Matthew Burns, Ph.D., and a team of UF researchers, along with Project Read AI, will develop UFLI AI. The team will create and test an AI-enhanced learning analytic tool integrated into UFLI Foundations to transform how reading is taught. It will empower educators to instantly tailor small-group lessons based on data, while also giving students their own private, interactive tutor. The more I work with AI, the more I’m convinced of this: AI can generate knowledge… but only teachers can spark curiosity. That aha! moment in a classroom? No algorithm can replace that. The future isn’t AI vs teachers. It’s AI + teachers, working together to create better learning experiences.

Education is being rewritten by generative AI. Every student can now have a personal tutor available 24/7. This isn’t cheating—it’s capability expansion. Here’s the current reality: 📚 65% students use AI for learning. 🧠 Personalized paths improve scores. ⚠️ Assessment models must change. Teachers are becoming mentors, not information sources. This highlights a social challenge: how do we measure real learning? What’s better—memorization or AI-assisted thinking? #EdTech #AIinEducation #FutureSkills #FinalLayer #FinalLayerContest Source: https://lnkd.in/g4-cZDtg
