Last week, the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) released our latest #AIpolicy paper, this time focused on the latest evolution of AI technology: #agenticAI. In the paper, we break down the technology, the components of the agentic AI stack, relevant players in the ecosystem, highlight key benefits and potential risks, and lay out an initial set of policy considerations. We're still in the early days, but agentic AI promises to be impactful. With that in mind, there are things policymakers can be doing, in conjunction with industry, to promote adoption and build trust in the technology -- our recs focus on both of these pillars. 🤖 We’re just at the beginning of the AI agent era. I’ve been diving deeper into agentic technologies lately — even experimenting hands-on with n8n — and it’s clear we’re entering a new phase. Deep collaboration between humans and AI. This article by Joel Hron, CTO at Thomson Reuters, really struck a chord: “The real moat in AI isn’t raw capability. It’s trust. Systems that know when to act, when to ask, and when to explain will outperform those that operate in isolation.” That’s exactly it. The next wave isn’t about “automation theater” or just replacing human. It’s about building AI that earns our trust — that knows when to defer, ask, and explain — not just act. I’ll be sharing more reflections as I keep learning and building with agentic tools. At FII9, I joined Fei-Fei Li and Peter Diamandis for a discussion on the future of AI, the path to superintelligence, and the role of humans in shaping what comes next. Current AI is remarkable at scaling knowledge, but it struggles with what makes intelligence truly human: creativity, abstraction, and the ability to redefine goals while reasoning. If you had a computer in 1905 with all the knowledge in the world, it still couldn't have invented Einstein’s theory of relativity. Humans can take a proof, build on it, and use that insight to form the next idea. Today's systems still struggle with that kind of reasoning and though we’re starting to see hints of recursive self-improvement we don’t yet know when it will reach the next level. To reach true superintelligence, we’ll need another algorithmic breakthrough. One that allows machines to adjust their objectives as they learn and reason across domains, the way humans intuitively do. Until then, the most powerful outcomes will come from human–AI collaboration. The future isn’t machines replacing people; it’s humans using these systems as partners that amplify judgment, context, and creativity.  Superintelligence may be on the horizon, but the path forward still depends on distinctly human intelligence. #Superintelligence #FII9 #FutureofAI #HumanAICollaboration #ArtificialIntelligence
