Franka Robotics’ Post

While Hannover Messe was buzzing in Germany, Franka Robotics team were busy presenting the latest developments at #GoogleCloudNext2026, held from April 22-24, 2026, in Las Vegas, which featured significant advancements and discussions in the field of robotics and physical AI. Franka Robotics team were proud to present the FR3 Duo - the dual-arm reference platform for physical AI. Powered by Google DeepMind #GeminiRobotics 1.5 as a "Thinking" Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, it plans complex, multi-step tasks and adapts in real time to handle even the most delicate manipulation challenges. This interactive demo allowed attendees to experience how Gemini Robotics model provide robots with contextual understanding, linguistic, and spatial intelligence for adaptability in real-world challenges. We featured FR3 Duo executing various manipulation tasks in workshop-like-environment. It was great to share this robotics space at #GoogleCloudNext Showcase and see impressive demonstrations from Boston Dynamics and Enchanted Tools. Big thanks to Franka Robotics team and everyone who supported us from Google team, we made this event a success, together! One of the standout moments at #GoogleCloudNext for me was seeing the FR3 Duo in action. Dhruv Patel and Andreas Gaßner, our conversation around Vision-Language-Action models and on-device inference hit differently when you're watching a dual-arm system adapt in real time to delicate manipulation tasks. I'd just finished building an AI-controlled robot car over spring break, so running into Franka at Cloud Next felt pretty serendipitous. It's one thing to talk about physical AI; it's another to see the foundational infrastructure actually working. This is the abstraction layer that will define what's possible at the edge in the industry. Exciting to watch this scale. See you in Munich next time. 🦾 #GoogleCloudNext #edgeAI
