On campus leadership: The linked document is a measured and well articulated statement for shared governance from the Unitversity of Michigan faculty. It points to, and corrects, a fundamental miscalculation that many campus executives are making; namely, that the moment requires bold executive leadership. The moment requires bold distributed decision-making. The faculty are not nieve, even if many of us are not paying enough attention. The tendency of campus executive and boards to see faculty as obstacles at best and other campuses as rivals too best is misguided. Campus cohesion, and sectoral solidarity are the two key ingredients for both survival and successful transformation to fulfill the mission and rebuild trust. https://lnkd.in/gbVbdRMC

Finding the Right Fit—Lessons from Building School Communities Like a lotus that rises through still water, the right fit in school leadership allows both people and institutions to grow—quietly, steadily, and with purpose. Over the years, I have learned that success in international schools is not defined only by enrollment numbers or beautiful facilities. It is built on alignment—between vision, leadership, and the operational foundations that make everything work. The most successful schools I have seen share three qualities: -Clarity of purpose. Everyone understands why the school exists and what kind of community it strives to build. -Trust in expertise. Effective leadership empowers those who ensure that the school runs safely, compliantly, and sustainably—from infrastructure and governance to daily operations. -Respect for collaboration. When operations, academics, and leadership move together, the whole school thrives. Having helped establish and transform schools from the ground up, I have seen how the right systems, partnerships, and culture enable educators and students to flourish. For school owners and leaders across the region—what does “the right fit” look like in your community? #EducationLeadership #InternationalSchools #OperationsExcellence #SchoolCulture #LeadershipInAsia

Looking forward to sharing our research at ACPA–College Student Educators International Michigan chapter later this week. Jorhie Beadle, Ed.D. and I will be diving into “Ecosystem Decision-Making in Higher Education: How Leaders Make Sense of Campus Crises.” Our session explores the factors higher education leaders consider when making critical decisions. From compliance and policy to student safety, institutional reputation, and community trust, decisions are rarely made in isolation. We’ll unpack the layers of the higher education ecosystem - sociopolitical expectations, campus culture, stakeholder dynamics, and the human side of leadership - to understand how leaders balance competing priorities and make sense of complexity in real time. We hope to see you there! #HigherEdLeadership #ACPA #MichiganHigherEd #StrategicLeadership #DecisionMaking #ChangeManagement #ProfessionalGrowth

The Power of Student Councils: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today A student council is far more than just a school committee, it’s the heartbeat of student voice and leadership. By representing their peers, organising events, and working alongside school staff, council members create a stronger, more inclusive school community. Through this experience, students develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, skills that go far beyond the classroom and prepare them to make meaningful contributions to society. Today, the council met to discuss pupil-led projects focused on strengthening community cohesion , an inspiring example of how young people are eager to make a positive impact not just within the school, but beyond its walls. Student councils empower young people to speak up, take initiative, and drive positive change. In doing so, they help shape confident, compassionate leaders who are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow. #StudentLeadership #Education #FutureLeaders #StudentCouncil #Empowerment #CommunityCohesion #Collaboration #SchoolCommunity

The Essence of Service Leadership in Education True leadership in education begins with service. A Service Leader is not driven merely by position or power—but by purpose. In schools and educational institutions, this means placing students’ growth, teachers’ development, and the community’s welfare at the heart of every decision.Service Leadership nurtures empathy, collaboration, and integrity. It transforms administrators into mentors, teachers into changemakers, and institutions into ecosystems of compassion and learning. When leaders serve first, they create environments where others can thrive—academically, emotionally, and spiritually. In today’s evolving world, education needs leaders who listen before acting, uplift before instructing, and inspire through example. Service Leadership reminds us that the ultimate goal of education is not just academic excellence, but the awakening of the human spirit. #ServiceLeadership #EducationLeadership #LeadingWithPurpose #CommunityImpact

A program to pilot intentional character and leadership development for students at St. Olaf supported by a multi-year, $630,000 grant. A new “Character in Community” project at St. Olaf will help students engage in intentional character and leadership development by fostering critical and engaged opportunities to identify and learn from exemplars. Led by Associate Professor of Religion Anthony Bateza, the project will involve students, faculty, and staff, and will infuse and incorporate reflection on character education throughout the campus community. “There is a rich and diverse array of exemplars that people learn from — those individuals and communities that teach and inspire us to better live out our commitments to the world. This project provides us with an amazing opportunity to reflect critically and explore the robust ways that character, community, and the common good are interrelated," says Bateza. 👉 Read more at St. Olaf News: https://lnkd.in/gDfFvFDj

One of the reasons I Co-Founded SheTO was to help more women reach the executive level in engineering. Our very own State of Women in Engineering Leadership Study is out and the numbers are shocking: Only 7% of senior engineering roles are held by women or nonbinary leaders. The Director Ceiling is real: representation drops from 14% at manager to 9% at director. Representation collapses as companies scale, shrinking to just 6.9% in enterprises. Please take time to read and share the report with your leadership teams! https://lnkd.in/g9bUibJK
