In an Age of AI, Computer Science is More Important Than Ever! TeachAI and the Computer Science Teachers Association present "Guidance on the Future of Computer Science Education in an Age of AI" to address a series of questions, starting with: ❓ Why is it Still Important for Students to Learn to Program? ❓ How Are Computer Science Educators Teaching With and About AI? ❓ How Can Students Become Critical Consumers and Responsible Creators of AI? The guidance includes a teacher survey and demonstrates a community leaning into AI literacy. It provides an example other disciplines can follow. More briefs to come! Importance of Computer Science in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)...

Automation does not mean replacement; it's assistance. Nothing could be more true when thinking about the use-case of writing code, developing algorithms, or helping build the AI tools themselves. It means all of our work matters more for students. Great new summative work from TeachAI and Computer Science Teachers Association on centralizing the need-to-know info in one place for the future of CS as a subject in K-12. 

TeachAI is doing great work on how to adjust CS's focus in the K-12 space, given the dominating influence of generative AI. As AI experts at AI4ALL, we're excited to see and support this work. While AI is drastically changing how we should think about the traditional CS workforce, it's even more important to have AI literacy from an early stage because **we are all programming every time we use generative AI**; we're just using English or the natural language of choice. #computationalthinking in particular is more important than ever, whatever your professional path. Kudos to Pat Yongpradit & team.

#Attention => Paradigm Shift #Learning in the 21st century has a different goal, it’s more about developing humans with the necessary skills to thrive in uncertainty (the only constant we have). #AI isn’t just a new tech, is a paradigm shift in how we produce knowledge, services and products. It’s about being able to leverage a non human intelligence. And this paradigm shift requires a new set of skills that at a fundamental level has computer science on it. Being able to understand how algorithms work, deconstruct problems, think in sequences, are key competences to harness the full potential of AI. That why, we join #TeachAI, a global initiative lead by Code.org, that proposes in depth how we should prepare the next generation under the new technological advances. He is a superstar educator in the field of Computer Science, teaching the famous course CS50 at Harvard, largest massive open online program at EdX, viewed by over a million people I was very fortunate today to sit in his class and learn about AI I not only learned some cool AI stuff, but also realized just how much AI and computer science skills are needed. Learn to Program or Follow Commands. This goes beyond CS education; it's about maintaining our learning agency in an age of AI. This is about education grappling with what changes and what needs to stay the same. We must remember that fundamental skills are required to use AI tools responsibly and that in a rush towards efficiency and outcomes, we shouldn’t sacrifice our agency and the benefits of the learning process.
