🏆National Recognition for Engineering Excellence — and an Iconic Bridge We’re proud to celebrate Placer County’s Foresthill Bridge and the leadership behind it as the Foresthill Bridge T-1 Steel Inspection and Repair Project earns a National Recognition Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) prestigious Engineering Excellence Awards program — one of the engineering profession’s highest distinctions. As California’s tallest bridge, Foresthill Bridge is more than a landmark — it’s a lifeline for the region and a responsibility that Placer County embraces with vision, diligence and an unwavering commitment to public safety. Their proactive approach to infrastructure stewardship continues to set a national standard. In partnership with Placer County, Atlas’ A-team took on one of the most technically demanding bridge inspection and repair efforts in the country — performing advanced testing and targeted repairs more than 700 feet above the American River, all while keeping traffic moving and protecting the public and project teams every step of the way. The impact speaks for itself: safer travel for the community, zero safety incidents and a project helping inform national guidance for evaluating legacy steel bridges. We’re honored to be recognized alongside Placer County through this national award — and to support work that strengthens critical infrastructure and the communities it serves. A great example of pavement stabilisation in action 🎬 We're helping to improve existing road infrastructure through smarter, more sustainable construction methods in collaboration with Hawthorne Infrastructure . This project showcases the value of reusing in-situ materials to deliver efficient rehabilitation outcomes while reducing waste, haulage, and disruption to road users. 🚧 Why we’re big fans of pavement stabilisation: ✅ Maximises reuse of existing materials ✅ Faster construction and reduced disruption ✅ Lower environmental impact ✅ Extends pavement life and performance It’s always rewarding seeing good engineering and strong collaboration come together on site. Looking forward to being part of more projects like this across the region. 🤝 #PavementEngineering #RoadRehabilitation #CivilEngineering #SustainableInfrastructure #EngineeringSolutions #Engenera #SunshineCoast Brendan Bennett

We’re proud to have supported the early stage works at Wyvil Road, helping enable piling operations to safely commence on this constrained and geotechnically intriguing conditions. Wentworth delivered the design of the piling mat and tower crane piled foundation, carefully accounting for the proximity of critical assets, including a Network Rail viaduct, and an underlying scour feature. Working in such close adjacency demanded a robust, risk informed approach to safeguard existing infrastructure throughout construction. Our design balanced buildability with stringent engineering and asset protection requirements, providing the assurance needed to progress confidently into the next phase of the project. A strong example of how collaborative engineering and considered temporary works design can unlock progress on complex urban developments. #Engineering #TemporaryWorks #Piling #Geotechnical #Infrastructure

Diverting rivers and working in and around watercourses is never straightforward – but it’s often the only way to create safe, dry spaces for permanent construction. In our latest article, Suttle Piling lifts the lid on how we manage complex river and inland watercourse projects: from cofferdams and temporary access roads to dewatering strategies, environmental controls and innovative solutions like floating bridge systems. Real schemes such as DNaire Fish Pass, Fiddleford Manor Hydro-Turbine, West Lydford Weir and M27 Romsey Road Bridge show how our teams combine engineering expertise with careful planning to keep projects safe, compliant and on programme. We’re proud to see one of our projects already making our community safer and stronger. For the Picket Fence emergency access road, EMC provided surveying, civil/site engineering, environmental coordination, permitting, bidding assistance, and construction administration—helping deliver a solution that’s already serving residents in real time. The project included the design of a 1.5-mile temporary gravel roadway within a relocatable easement, providing a critical secondary access route to McCall Road during times when trains or other emergencies block the primary access to W. 15th Street. This effort was made possible through strong collaboration with contractor Pintail Site Preparation, LLC, whose partnership helped bring the project to life. One thing I’ve learned working on track projects: the surface is only part of the story. The real long-term performance comes down to what’s underneath — drainage, base prep, asphalt quality, and proper construction. This was a solid breakdown of what schools and facilities should understand before starting a track project: https://lnkd.in/gvG-jwNm

🌊 INNOVATION IN MARINE CONSTRUCTION: Elevating Standards for Central Texas Contractors The marine construction landscape is evolving rapidly, and contractors managing lakefront projects need to stay ahead of the curve. Whether you're designing floating dock systems or engineering fixed structures, the complexity of projects on Lake Travis and Lake Austin demands both technical expertise and strategic planning. **Modern Dock Construction: Materials & Sustainability** Today's best-in-class contractors are moving beyond traditional timber approaches. Composite materials, aluminum systems, and innovative floating dock technologies are reducing maintenance costs while improving longevity. The shift toward sustainable materials isn't just environmentally responsible—it's becoming a competitive advantage in Central Texas. **Best Practices for Lakefront Project Management** Success hinges on three critical areas: First, navigate LCRA permitting early and thoroughly—delays here cascade through your entire timeline. Second, master water level management; Lake Travis and Lake Austin's fluctuations require adaptive design strategies. Third, maintain transparent client communication about soil conditions, seasonal challenges, and compliance requirements. **Technical Insights: Floating vs. Fixed Systems** The choice between floating and fixed dock systems depends on site-specific factors: water level volatility, soil stability, and long-term maintenance expectations. Floating systems excel in variable water conditions; fixed systems offer stability in consistent environments. Understanding these trade-offs is essential for contractor credibility. **Your Insights Matter** What challenges are you facing on your current lakefront projects? Whether it's permitting complexity, technical design decisions, or client expectations—let's share best practices and elevate our industry together. #MarineConstruction #DockBuilder #ContractorTech #LakefrontConstruction #ConstructionInnovation

Connectivity changes communities Infrastructure carries growth Last week, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury broke ground on Phase 2 of the Ham Reid Road Extension Project— continuing a corridor designed to improve: ‣ connectivity ‣ traffic flow ‣ safety ‣ long-term growth in South Lake Charles Phase 1 introduced one of the area’s earliest roadway applications of Low-Impact Development (LID) infrastructure— integrating: ‣ walkability ‣ landscaped drainage systems ‣ multiuse pathways ‣ sustainable stormwater design Now, that vision continues westward toward Big Lake Road and Graywood Parkway. We’re grateful to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for their trust and continued partnership throughout this transformational effort. This clip features Fenstermaker engineers Heather Gardner LeJeune, E.I. and Austin Doucet, P.E. reflecting onsite during Phase 1 construction about the pride, complexity, and care involved in bringing infrastructure like this to life. As Southwest Louisiana continues to grow, our Lake Charles engineering team stands ready to support the infrastructure shaping what comes next. Because meaningful projects like this begin long before the ceremonial shovel hits the dirt. They begin: in the field, through coordination, and through the responsibility to build systems that communities can rely on for decades to come. . . . #infrastructure #roadwaydesign #transportation #construction #civilengineering
