The business of space got a boost on August 13 when the Trump Administration published its EO intended to revamp commercial space regulations. The Administration and Congress continue to square off about NASA’s budget and future direction. Outside of Washington, China launched a pair of Mexican satellites and concerns about warfare in the space domain proliferate as the U.S., Russian and Chinese ambitions touch off a new space race. #57! Hungary has become the latest country to sign the Artemis Accords, outlining norms of behavior for sustainable space exploration. “The expansion of the Artemis Accords continues to be a win for a future in space that reflects American values of peace, transparency and safety. However, the success of the accords is inextricably linked to the success of the Artemis program,” Mike Gold, president of civil and international space at Redwire and a former NASA official who led development of the Accords more than five years ago, told SpaceNews. “Thanks to the passionate support of leaders such as Senator Ted Cruz and Secretary Sean Duffy for Artemis and beating China to the moon, I’m confident that we can lead not just in technology but in policy,” he added. 🆘 First Rocket to Reach Space (1942) On 2 October 1942, Nazi Germany made history at Peenemünde when it successfully test-fired the first V-2 rocket, marking humanity’s first step beyond the atmosphere. ▪️The rocket reached 52 miles (84 km) - officially crossing into space. ▪️Fueled by liquid oxygen and alcohol, the V-2 used gyro-controlled guidance and pioneered staged combustion principles. ▪️It was developed under Wernher von Braun, whose later work with NASA’s Saturn V would take mankind to the Moon. While the V-2 was born from war, its legacy became the foundation of modern rocketry, space exploration, and ballistic missile design - a technological paradox of destruction and discovery. What began as a weapon… became the origin of the space age. #Covert Kinetics

🌊 🛰️Sea-level monitoring satellite is getting ready for its launch in November🚀 Do you like the golden-colored wrapping of the satellite? It’s our thermal protection, consisting of several layers of special polyimide foils. Once in space, it will shield the Earth-observing satellite from the extreme orbital temperatures it will encounter. We also delivered various onboard electronics for the ESA-NASA Sentinel-6 mission, including our navigation receiver 🧭 for precise in-orbit position determination, as well as our antenna and remote interface unit. The Sentinel-6 satellite aims to set a new gold standard for sea-surface height measurements. Recently, the satellite was removed from its storage container and a series of checks began 👉 https://lnkd.in/djhvDYQV Sentinel-6 is a joint mission of European Space Agency - ESA and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration More about Sentinel-6: https://lnkd.in/dW7hurJc Image credit: USSF 30th Space Wing

Over 60% of the Gateway’s costs are being born by NASA’s international partners, specifically, the European Space Agency - ESA, and the governments of Japan, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. "The presence of Gateway in cislunar space will provide a platform that will inherently allow America and its partners to monitor Chinese activities. A permanent spacecraft, orbiting the Moon, will project American influence and power forward, discouraging illegal and illicit operations by rival nations that may otherwise occur in the shadows" #IAC2025 Read more on Redwire’s Mike Gold Testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. https://bit.ly/4nx92Dl

NASA’s Future at a Crossroads! Reports indicate the Trump administration is considering a major structural shift merging #NASA with the #DepartmentOfTransportation, a move tied to acting NASA chief and Transport Secretary Sean Duffy. Duffy’s decision to reopen the #Artemis lunar mission contracts, citing delays by #SpaceX, has triggered sharp reactions from the space industry and raised questions about the administration’s vision for America’s space program. Policy analysts note that integrating NASA into a broader infrastructure framework could reshape the nation’s approach to space exploration, research, and innovation. Yet, concerns persist that such a merger could dilute NASA’s scientific independence, particularly amid recent proposals to cancel over 40 missions. The outcome of these deliberations may redefine the trajectory of U.S. space leadership for decades. #SpacePolicy #USPolitics #Aerospace #Technology
