Six to ten years is the average time from startup to exit. You think you can sprint for a decade without consequences? I've seen founders finally "make it" only to realize they're too burned out to enjoy it. Their marriages are over, their health is shot, and they don't even know who they are outside of work anymore. The startup world is obsessed with unsustainable heroics. But here's what actually separates successful founders from the ones who crash out: They treat themselves like their most important hire. You wouldn't hire a CEO who never slept, made decisions while stressed, had zero work-life balance, and burned through relationships. Yet most founders do exactly that to themselves 🤷♀️

Steve Egan liked thisSteve Egan liked thisDropped my daughter off at Wisconsin four years ago and watched her walk into the dorm without looking back. Picked her up a couple weekends ago. Officially graduated. Double major, double minor. People ask if college is worth it anymore. I'm almost in the camp that says no. Most kids coast through, treat it like a four-year vacation, and come out the other side not much different than they went in. She did the opposite. Studied abroad in Barcelona and instead of just drinking her way through Europe, she went to gym classes in different parts of the city, took workout classes in different neighborhoods, and traveled the continent on money she'd saved herself. Fifteen countries. Lived with five roommates in an apartment over a row of bars. Four years of sorority life. Multiple internships. College actually teaches the kids who put the effort in how to fend for themselves. How to manage roommates and group projects and a sorority calendar at the same time. How to be on your own in a foreign city and figure it out. How to adapt. That's the part that translates. In ten years, AI is going to reshape what most of those degrees actually mean. The independence won't budge. Pretty proud of her.

This week Comcast Business launched its new Innovation Lab. Expedient is one of three inaugural partners alongside Dell Technologies and Digital Realty. Expedient’s program covers three things enterprises are trying to resolve at once: AI operations at scale through our Secure AI CTRL services, private cloud that averages roughly 30% less than hyperscale for stable workloads, and managed disaster recovery backed by a 100% SLA. The Lab itself is designed around live customer work with defined milestones and direct customer input.
