Lindsey Pollak shared thisIf you’re wondering how AI will reshape careers -- and, more importantly, what to do about it -- I have a book recommendation for you. 📚 Jeremy Schifeling was my client at LinkedIn and, when my daughter was born, he and Omar Garriott gifted me a pink onesie that said "inFant," so of course I adore him. 👶 But that is not why I'm recommending his amazing new book, "UNBREAKABLE: How to AI-Proof Your Job Search, Career, and Future." It's because it's a timely, must-read book for all professionals. 🏆 Here's the money quote: "Don't be decent at something AI can do. Be exceptional at something it can't." Lindsey Pollak shared thisChampagne, delicious food (sushi! french fries!) and generational differences — I got to enjoy three of my favorite things in Vancouver, BC this week. 🇨🇦 I had the honor and pleasure of keynoting the Cactus Club Cafe Annual Conference, talking with Canadian leaders about what it takes to deliver excellence in a multigenerational work environment. Hospitality is one of the best laboratories for this work: fast-paced, high expectations and teams spanning multiple generations serving guests of all ages. We explored how Curiosity, Clarity and Connection can turn generational differences into a real advantage at every level of the organization. Thank you to Anna Grolle CPA, CGA , Andrew Latchford , Stephanie LeRose CPHR, Christy Murphy, Danielle Lum and the whole Cactus Club team — shout out to Coal Harbour! — for the warm welcome (and the delicious dinner after the event. I can’t wait for my next Cactus visit at your first two US restaurants in Boston and Miami! 🍾🍣

Lindsey Pollak posted thisHere's a trend I'm following closely: It appears that one answer to the threat of AI taking away jobs is: Entrepreneurship. ➡️ According to the U.S. Census Bureau, new business applications are up 36.8% from last year. ➡️ On LinkedIn, the number of people listing themselves as founders is 69% higher than a year ago. AI and so many other tools make it easier than ever to launch a business or start a side gig. Will this be a growing trend for recent graduates and others whose jobs are threatened by AI? What do you think?

Lindsey Pollak shared thisI’m noticing more leadership teams asking me the same question lately: You guessed it -- how are the different generations managing the rapid rise of AI? Of course I thread AI themes and leadership suggestions throughout my presentations, but here is where I always start: Do your people have basic clarity about what AI use is currently recommended and what the boundaries are in their specific job? Remember, clear is kind. 💡 Especially when people are worried or confused. I was struck by this recent data from Slack [link in Comments below👇]: 81% executives feel urgency to incorporate generative AI into their organizations. But 43% of employees say they’ve received NO GUIDANCE from their leaders or organization on how to use AI tools at work. Before having huge conversations about AI destroying office jobs and changing our brains and increasing surveillance (and we absolutely should have those conversations!!), let's start with basic clarity. Has your organization provided all employees with basic guidance and guardrails around the use of AI? Please share!

It was a pleasure and honor to connect with so many inspiring and dedicated financial advisors to talk about communicating with multiple generations of clients and colleagues. 3 key takeaways that audience members said stuck with them: 💡 Clear is kind. Be specific about expectations, communication preferences and availability. 🤔 Always explain the why. Don't assume people know the reasons behind your recommendations or decisions. 👫 Engage a reverse mentor. Mentoring conversations can and should go in two directions. There is so much we can learn from people of all ages. And extra thanks to Dana Wineke and team at Wedbush for welcoming me to attend the entire day, where I learned a ton about the economy, the stock market, AI, efficiency and much more. AND they spelled my name correctly on my badge! 🙏

Ask yourself: Who's made your life easier lately? Who's supported you behind the scenes? Who's shown up for you consistently, even in small ways? Who deserves to hear that they matter? It’s easy to assume people already know how much we value them. But they usually don’t hear it nearly enough. Success is rarely a solo act. Today is a good day to tell someone: I see you. I appreciate you. I’m grateful for you. Today, I want to celebrate my chief of staff Jon Hugo Ungar, who's worked with me for 6 years and had a big milestone recently in the other part of his career. He's a composer and just released a new album for his musical Redrum, a parody of The Shining. Jon and I met in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and he's incredibly talented! He’s cool, calm, and always thinking a few steps ahead. The navigator. The problem solver. The fixer. Last year, he made a bold move to leave his corporate career to join me in the business as my COO, CFO, and CTO. He’s incredibly smart, analytical, and deeply reliable. He knows our numbers inside out. Both personal and business, and brings a level of clarity and precision that keeps everything grounded. While I’m the one on stage and online, he’s the behind-the-scenes operator who’s introverted, not on social media, and fully focused on building, optimizing, and solving. That contrast is exactly our edge. He also advises my clients on strategy and operations, and runs his own consulting practice supporting multiple 8-figure dental practices as a GM & COO. It’s one of the biggest differentiators in how we support our clients — vision + execution, all in one room. This month, we spent 19 days in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo with the kids. He planned. He navigated. He led. And I got to experience what it feels like to fully trust someone to guide the way. Because when you have the right partner, you don’t just build a life, you expand what’s possible. 15 years in, and I’m still grateful for the way he shows up for our family and our business every single day. Lindsey Pollak liked thisLindsey Pollak liked thisIt has been over a week since we hosted the fifth London Trek. 11 students (Santiago Salazar, Isabelle Kennedy, Harper Andreas, Zola Barnwell, Ritchie Fu, Morgan Maloney, Christina Bays, Tatum Busch, Avery Desai, Yene Bereket, and Ellen Hill) participated in the experience. Zag alums and friends hosted us at Boeing (Weston Soete and Matthew Dowse), Personio (Camille Merritt), PwC (Nicole Knott), and London Stock Exchange Group (Joel Carras). In addition, former U.S. Ambassador Patricia Haslach led a discussion about careers in diplomacy while Zag alums (Amisa Ramadhani, Abby Sorlie, and Grace Harrington), talked about their experiences as graduate students in the UK. The student-alumni networking dinner was the icing on the cake. This amazing group of alums, mentors, and advisors, made the London Trek a success. Special thanks to Mirjeta Beqiri, Ph.D. who served as the co-host of the trek and to the staff at the Holiday Inn London Whitechapel for serving as the trek hotel and the caterer for the dinner. As a Currier alum, I couldn’t be happier to see them taking on this role of building a caring community for undergraduates at Harvard University! Today, Nancy is a colleague, collaborator, and dear friend. But when I started grad school she was my professor and later my mentor, which means I’ve seen firsthand the tremendous care with which she supports students and helps them grow. The Currier House mascot, a tree, symbolizes the deep roots of this transformative community. Every speaker offered a fresh perspective, but a few insights stood out: 💡 Curiosity over Certainty: Staying curious and remaining comfortable with ambiguity is a superpower when navigating AI. 🌎 Solving Problems over Job Titles: Shifting focus from "job titles" to the "problems we want to solve" creates more expansive career opportunities as AI evolves the workplace. 🧠 A Human Revolution: AI is more than a technological shift; it’s a transformation of the human experience. Reconnecting with my Becoming You cohort in person was the perfect highlight to an inspiring conference!
