Keith Soranno liked thisSPBA 2026 Spring Meeting Washington, DC Yesterday, we kicked off the SPBA Spring Meeting with a full and engaging Day 1 here in Washington, DC. Our morning began with an in-depth HIPAA Privacy & Security training led by David Smith of Total HIPAA, equipping TPAs and industry leaders with practical, role-specific guidance on compliance, risk management, and safeguarding sensitive data. The session covered everything from PHI vs. ePHI and Security Rule implementation to breach response and the intersection of HIPAA and GLBA—providing valuable, real-world takeaways for attendees. In the afternoon, we officially opened the Spring Meeting with thoughtful discussions on some of the most pressing issues facing our industry: • The evolving “Great Healthcare Plan” and its potential impact on group health plans • Strategies for lowering pharmacy spending • Best practices for open negotiations and Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) • A fascinating look at Washington’s political dynamics and the “machinery of influence” We wrapped up Day 1 with a wonderful evening reception, giving attendees the opportunity to connect, network, and continue the conversation in a more informal setting. A strong start to a productive meeting filled with insight, collaboration, and forward-thinking conversations.
