Harvard just published some compelling research that backs up what McKinsey told us in December of 2025. This moment is all about #Augmentation. In their study #Humans + #AI outperformed. The data is clear. Now the harder question is sitting with every leader... Are you building the on-ramps for the next generation or quietly pulling up the ladder on the people who will probably be the most fluent in the AI economy? Please check out the article below and let's discuss. #HumanAdvantage #FutureOfWork #AIAugmentation #TalentStrategy #WorkquakeAugmentation Beat Automation. Karrie Sullivan shared thisGovernance is important but empowering structured people wired for governance slows these initiatives down to the point that they can't find momentum. Once someone utters the phrase "don't worry - I'll get this under control" - you've lost. Then either CEO is fired or CIO is scapegoated and fired in 2 years for making no progress. The only solution that makes sense is that governance gets plugged into continuous improvement. Continuous improvement is the key to success - not governance.Karrie Sullivan shared thisI've seen three patterns in AI transformations that fail. They're almost never about technology. Pattern 1: The CEO delegates it entirely to the CTO. AI transformation is a strategic, organizational, and cultural undertaking. The moment it becomes a "technology project," the board disengages, the business units resist, and the accountability disappears. You can't delegate your way through a transformation. Pattern 2: The board approves the budget but not the governance. Signing off on a $10M AI investment without also approving the oversight structure is like funding a construction project with no building inspector. You'll only find out what was built wrong after someone gets hurt. Pattern 3: Speed is treated as the success metric. The companies I've watched stumble weren't slow — they were fast in the wrong direction. Velocity without direction isn't progress. It's expensive chaos. The transformation leaders who get it right share one trait: they treat AI governance as a competitive advantage, not a compliance cost. Which of these patterns are you at risk of right now? #AITransformation #CEOLeadership #DigitalTransformation #AIStrategy #BoardGovernance

Karrie Sullivan posted thisOne of the biggest misalignment hurdles we see over and over in digital transformation is decision authority. CIO/CTO teams are expected to make the shift from order taking to strategic partner - but they are hamstrung at every turn. Stakeholders pull rank on budgets, investment priorities, and staffing levels. Finance pull budget rugs - even if the team is delivering ROI. HR pulls rank to maintain the status quo on change management that leverages a playbook from 1965 and way out of alignment talent leveling. Pick a leader. Develop a plan. Drive results from pilots. Scale up. Prioritize investments based on successes. Maintain a strong leadership spine that backs the digital team’s decisions.

Karrie Sullivan shared thisYep. This is why the big LLM business models make little sense to me. 1) They’re not consumer products. Little bits of them could be - but not at the burn rates these guys are putting up. 2) Why on Earth would smart companies trust an LLM / API with their competitive advantage or customer workflows when they will likely build it cheaper and better themselves?Karrie Sullivan shared thisAfter Pinterest, Airbnb, Notion, Cursor, today it’s Intercom publicly sharing that they’re finding it better, cheaper, faster to use and train open models themselves rather than use APIs for many tasks. And hundreds of other companies are doing the same without sharing. Ultimately, I believe the majority of AI workflows will be in-house based on open-source (vs API). It took much more time than we anticipated but it’s happening now!
-
Karrie Sullivan posted thisIf 80% of your employees don’t use AI tools well - - it’s not a people problem. The system wasn’t designed for them. The work CIOs and CTOs have to do to cover the HUGE gap left by the lack of UX in frontier models is either make the use cases super prescriptive or automate.

There's a saying that "specificity kills ambiguity." We'd add: ambiguity kills camaraderie. Karrie Sullivan shared thisThe companies flattening their org structures and taking out middle managers - aren't removing middle managers because it's truly good strategy. They're removing middle managers because they are still promoting people like they did in 1950 and those qualities aren't what companies need to be successful going forward. So at some point - don't leaders need to ask themselves why they were promoted and what gaps they need to fill in their own game?

The end of March brings the end of Women’s History Month, but that doesn’t mean we should stop amplifying one another. March helps to create the momentum -- don't let it die. Keep riding the wave. What’s a small thing you can do? For ideas, I went through all the books written by women I’ve read the past many months. Books by women who’ve shaped how I think, lead, and show up. I decided the small thing I could do is amplify THEIR messages, these brilliant women I have the pleasure of knowing. If a message moves you—amplify it. Buy the book. Share the idea. Quote their name. Whose voice are you elevating next?

Karrie Sullivan liked thisKarrie Sullivan liked thisAs we approach the end of March and look back at this year Women History Month, we shall also celebrate the 30th anniversary of when the US Congress formally recognized 8th of March as the International Women Day (“IWD”) in the United States. Yet not many of us may know that this would not have happened if not for a passionate dedication and years of advocacy spearheaded by the exceptional Beata Poźniak, an amazing female leader, actress and artist from Poland. Yes, the power of one woman, who was relentless in her pursuit, resulted in this symbolic yet powerful milestone, as recognized this month by the Vice President Kamala Harris. Thirty years ago, in 1994, at the suggestion of Beata Pozniak, Congresswoman Maxine Waters introduced H.J. Res. 316,, the first such a Bill in the history of US Congress to designate March 8th as International Women's Day. “Inspire Inclusion” has been the theme chosen for the IWD in 2024, let’s carry it forward beyond any calendar boundaries, as inclusion has no expiration date! #IWD

Karrie Sullivan liked thisThis really captures why those ProFlowers days shaped so many of us. We learned a lot in that environment, not just tools or frameworks, but how to operate in the space between analysis and execution. There was no time for a three-week data science project to tell you what to do. You had to look at the data you had, find the signal, and act, usually in the the same day! That pressure made us better operators. You learned quickly what mattered, what didn’t, and how to make decisions with incomplete information while the clock was still running. When the system was off, you felt it immediately, and you owned the outcome. Those days set a standard that’s hard to replicate. Once you’ve worked in an environment like that, it permanently changes how you think about rigor, accountability, and decision-making. Thank you, Nishad R Gadgil for capturing the complexity. I hope we get to collaborate in the future!Karrie Sullivan liked thisEvery Valentine’s Day bouquet has a background story – a story steeped in planning and operational discipline. Karrie Sullivan liked thisKarrie Sullivan liked thisGood leadership isn’t always about giving the most direction — sometimes it’s about knowing who to trust and when to step back. A recent comment from a leader stuck with me: “When I need something done, I give it to you. I know when you take care of things, they get done.” That level of trust doesn’t come from titles or checklists. It comes from leaders who recognize ownership, accountability, and follow‑through — and empower people accordingly. When leaders focus on outcomes instead of micromanagement, they create space for teams to move faster, make better decisions, and take real pride in their work. Strong leadership is ultimately about building confidence — in people, in processes, and in results. When that trust is there, execution follows.

CHRO expectations have changed and so has the opportunity for ER. Today’s C-suite and boards are looking to ER to quantify impact with the same rigor as revenue-producing functions and clearly connect talent decisions to risk, cost and business outcomes. With the right metrics, ER leaders can turn complex data into insights that inform smarter decisions. 📅 On February 12, Deb Muller will introduce the Trust & Risk Statement™ for the first time, a new set of standardized ER metrics designed to help translate ER data into the insights CHROs need to lead with confidence. We’ll be joined by Fiona Jamison, Ph.D. from People Results to share how these metrics can be applied in practice. If you’re ready to elevate ER from reporting to strategic insight, this session is for you. Register today: https://lnkd.in/gN_E4QX4 #Data #Trust #Risk #EmployeeRelations

DWD Enhances Unemployment Insurance Communication with AI-Powered Plain Language Tool Holly Newell and Melissa Matthews of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Unemployment Insurance (UI) team delivered an insightful presentation at Data Day 2025. Together with Michael Schmierer and Sandip Biswas of Resultant, a leading data consulting firm, they presented DWD’s new plain-language artificial intelligence tool, which is revolutionizing how UI information is communicated. The tool uses a generative artificial intelligence chat bot to translate complex legal content into easy-to-understand language, empowering claimants to better navigate the system confidently and improving operational efficiency across the agency. “Clear communication is essential for claimants to receive the benefits they need,” said Holly Newell, Chief of UI Operations. “This tool represents a major advancement, making the system more accessible to all Hoosiers.” Strategically developed in collaboration with Resultant, the Plain Language Tool substantially streamlines document accessibility. With 750 distinct documents, many containing complex legal terminology, manually converting these documents into plain language would take 13 years. However, by leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence, the anticipated timeframe shrinks to two years and ensures accuracy through human verification protocols. As a result, more claimants are expected to better understand documents, call center volumes should decrease, and filing errors should decline. “Indiana’s workforce depends on accessible and efficient UI processes,” said Beth Green, Interim Commissioner and General Counsel. “This tool allows claimants to confidently engage with these critical resources while increasing government efficiency.” This plain language artificial intelligence tool is a reflection of DWD’s commitment to being a leader in innovation and serving Hoosiers.
