Donte Parker shared thisAs I wrap up my final day with Actalent after seven and a half years, I’m filled with deep gratitude. This journey has shaped me both professionally and personally. The business acumen, leadership experience, and character development I’ve gained will stay with me for life. I’m especially thankful to have worked for a company that embraced me and my family, something I’ll never take for granted. I’m also immensely grateful for the relationships I’ve built over the years, both internally and externally. I’ll truly miss many of you. While I could name countless individuals who’ve supported me along the way, I’ll refrain so I don’t risk leaving anyone out. This is a bittersweet moment, but I believe everything happens for a reason and God makes no mistakes. I’ll be taking a professional break to focus on my family, and on my physical and mental well-being. To everyone still in the fight, keep pushing. I’m cheering you on and wishing you nothing but success. Mamba Out.

Donte Parker reposted thisDonte Parker reposted thisHappy Friday My Semiconductor Community! As the semiconductor industry continues to grow, it faces significant challenges in talent attraction and retention. With more than $1 trillion in investment expected from 2023 to 2030, the industry requires a sufficient pool of skilled workers to ensure that manufacturing capacity operates at full steam. Unfortunately, there are not enough graduates, an aging workforce, and a poor perception of the industry among candidates. In response, semiconductor companies need to prioritize talent as a top strategic objective. They can leverage the existing workforce, tap into untapped pools of workers, and fill remaining gaps with contingent labor. However, the industry also needs to address its branding and marketing challenges to attract technology talent. If you're interested in learning more about how Actalent can support your company, schedule time with us at the link below. Let's work together to overcome the talent gap in semiconductors. Donte Parker shared thisAs I reflect on my first BEYA (Black Engineer of the Year) STEM Conference experience, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved in making this happen and what an event to be apart of. Olakunle Arowolo, Gus Morrisson, Lisa Pfaller, and Chad Gieg Not only did I have an opportunity to meet several different successful professionals within their own right, but I was apart of multiple different break out sessions that provided knowledge and information to our young black STEM professionals who are the next generation. From Technology advancements, HBCU and PWI partnerships, hiring workshops, tons of leadership and mental health conversations, and many more, this conference didn't hold back. It was an honor to represent Actalent and I'm thankful to be apart of an origination such as this one. Not only are we a sponsor and ally for an event like this but understand the need for these conversations and rooms to continue to happen for equity and equality purposes in the STEM field is amazing. As I close I just want to say thank you again to everyone involved and appreciative of all the people I met. The relationships built wont be for granted and looking forward to bringing everything I learned back to my sphere of influence and community. #beyastem38 #beya2024

After exploring my next steps for the past few months I have started the next chapter of my career. I am looking forward to what this brings and excited to be joining TrueSeek as a Founding Talent Partner. When I left my last role my plan was to take some time and be present with my family and enjoy what life has to offer. After interviewing with several companies, speaking with partners and mentors I decided that what is best for me is an environment where I can support my partners and own my business fully. I am very excited to be partnering with TrueSeek and the team. Here is to 2026 and what it has to offer!

Fast forward to this month making my final call to a contractor who was able to afford his first family vacation because of 1 phone call, 1 interview, and 1 job offer. Matching great talent to great clients, that’s what it’s all about. I started at Aerotek living in my parents house, not knowing what I wanted to do in life, just a young girl out of college with a lot of ambition to make something of myself. What I found, was a career that pushed me out of my comfort zone, resulting in personal and professional growth, opportunity and leadership. Little did I know, this company would help me to grow my “book of business” to afford a new car, dream wedding, honeymoon, first home, and ultimately lots of baby essentials. From the morning redzone meetings to trainings, summits and contest trips- to say this journey has been life changing would be an understatement. There’s countless people I could thank, but the ones at top of mind are the leaders & teammates who provided feedback, saw potential in me and pushed me to be better every day. To my coworkers in the Sarasota, Tampa, Ohio, Raleigh offices and SRC- I am so grateful for you. While this all happened very quickly, my husbands career has changed, bringing us from North Carolina to Texas! As much as I love leading & recruiting, becoming a mother has been my favorite job to date, and I’m in a fortunate position now where I’m choosing to stay at home full time with my baby girl. As bittersweet as this decision is, I’m excited for the next chapter of my life. I am reflecting on this era with immense pride and gratitude. I wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for that 1 phone call, 1 interview, 1 job offer. Thank you Aerotek.

In case the video is TLDR (after all I specialize in business development, not video content haha) here's what's included: -What is talent solutions and how do you work with companies? -What if we have in-house recruiters? -Should we still meet if business is slow right now? -Aren't you guys expensive? -Why would candidates go through your company instead of job seek on their own? Arizona's semiconductor boom: 40+ expansions, $102B invested, 15,700+ jobs created since 2020. The challenge? 115,000 MORE workers are needed by 2030, and half those jobs risk going unfilled. The solution? Apprenticeship programs with 90% retention rates are proving that strategic workforce development works.

🎤 How to Stand Out to Hiring Managers DURING INTERVIEWS 🚦 In California’s transportation engineering sector, interviews are more than just technical Q&A—they’re your chance to show how you think, communicate, and lead. Here are 5 ways to make a positive lasting impression: 🔹 1. DO YOUR RESEARCH Whether it’s Caltrans, a city agency, or a private consultant, research their recent projects, values, and priorities. Show you understand their mission. 🔹 2. PREPARE S.T.A.R STORIES & KEEP THEM TO THE POINT Use the Situation–Task–Action–Result format to answer behavioral questions. For example: “Tell me about a time you resolved a design conflict.” And make sure you stay on topic- you will lose a hiring manager’s attention if you talk over 2 minutes typically. 🔹 3. SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE Mention tools and standards they use—like Civil 3D, Synchro, or Caltrans HDM. Align your experience with their workflows. 🔹 4. ALWAYS ASK THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS Go beyond “What’s the team like?” or “How much PTO would I get?” Ask about upcoming infrastructure challenges, sustainability goals, or how they approach public engagement. 🔹 5. SHOW YOUR ENTHUSIASM Hiring managers want someone who’s not just qualified—but excited and they can see as a “culture fit”. Let your passion for transportation/your community impact and personality shine through. This can be displayed by having positive facial expressions/body language/tone of voice, and dressing the part for video call/in person interviews! 💬 What’s one interview tip that helped you land your last role? Let’s share and support each other! #Califiornia #Californiajobs #transportation #transportationjobs #transportationengineering #trafficengineering #roadway #highway #transit #rail #landsurveying #InterviewTips #CivilEngineeringJobs #CaliforniaCareers #Caltrans #EngineeringInterviews #CareerGrowth #hiringmanager 📨christina.jones@lviassociates.com 📞415-228-7028

Exciting news for South Dakota as Applied Digital plans to establish a massive $14 billion, 400 MW data center in the next 28 months. The project in Deuel County is set to attract an estimated investment of $4.3 to $5.5 billion from Applied Digital and its clientele, with a potential overall project impact ranging between $10 to $16 billion. Situated on a 150 to 200-acre site east of Toronto, near the gas turbine tower and gas pipeline, the facility will feature two substantial data center buildings, each spanning approximately 907,500 square feet, and boasting a combined power load of 400 to 430 MW. Within each building, around 150 MW will be allocated to the internal compute equipment, while the remaining power will be dedicated to the cooling systems. This could be a great case study that highlights the importance of quality of hire. Notably, none of the three Packers quarterbacks were drafted in the top half of the first round, while the other NFC North teams selected 10 quarterbacks in that range. A quality hire is not necessarily the most impressive profile on paper; rather, it is the candidate with the highest probability of success within your specific environment. The Packers' scouting, coaching, and development systems are well-aligned, allowing them to select quarterbacks who fit their model instead of pursuing costly draft board hype. This strategic approach emphasizes the value of understanding and optimizing the hiring process to achieve long-term success.

In Santaquin, #Utah, a different kind of data center project is taking shape: a 200MW+ facility designed to run entirely off‑grid using on‑site natural gas generation. ⛽ ⚡ Called the Summit Ridge Data Center and developed by DCPC - Data Center Power Company, the site will rely on its own engines for all electricity rather than tapping into the local utility. It’s located roughly 65 miles south of Salt Lake City and will use a closed‑loop cooling system. 👀 Although the project was approved back in 2024, it’s only now coming onto many residents’ radar as local officials hold public meetings to outline what’s being built. ⌛ This is part of a broader shift in strategy: as grid connections become slower and more complex, some developers are opting for fully self‑powered designs to keep projects on schedule. #DataCenters #OffGrid #NaturalGas MXI Partners Matt Hafford Michael Ferguson Gabe Lyell Georgiana Dabica Ciaran Hickey

An engineer loves San Diego. She's also limiting her career to a 50-mile radius. Yesterday she passed on two strong opportunities in Orange County because "the commute isn't worth it." Both paid $15-20k more than local options. I see this constantly. Engineers choosing lifestyle over career advancement. Only considering Orange County roles (new mom, understandable). Staying in San Diego despite better opportunities in Irvine. Prioritizing proximity to family over growth. Sometimes geography makes sense: family medical situations (real priority), spouse's career, cost of living benefits, quality of life that money can't buy. Sometimes it doesn't: "I just like it here" without doing the math. Avoiding 45-minute commutes for $20k+ increases. Limiting options to one city in your 20s and 30s. The math: her choice costs her $20k per year. Over 10 years that's $200k in lost income, plus reduced retirement savings and slower career growth. Smart geographic strategies I see: moving to Lake Tahoe but accepting remote/travel work. Being open to Bay Area moves for the right opportunity. Considering 60-day relocations for better positions. Geographic flexibility early in your career creates options later. Every "no" based purely on location is a bet that better opportunities will appear locally. Questions to ask yourself: what am I actually avoiding? How much is that avoidance costing me per year? What would I do with an extra $20k? How do you balance location preferences with career opportunities?

🎓 One piece of advice to stand out at a career fair: Know what you like! When you walk up to a recruiter’s booth and say something like: “I’m really interested in transportation design and would love an internship where I can work on bridge design,” - you immediately stand out. It shows that you’ve done some self-reflection, understand your interests, and are genuinely excited about what you want to learn. Compare that to a student who says, “I’ll take any internship I can get.” It’s a big difference! Having direction (even if it changes later) shows initiative, confidence, and passion - three things every employer looks for. #CareerFairTips #StudentAdvice #Internships #Construction #Engineering #Recruiting
