This entire room would take no more than two hours to fully inventory with AI doing the work. You just click-click-click photos. You’ll feel better about selling those to others that enjoy them. I so agree Ari. And from our side, we so often find the executor incredibly overwhelmed with the daunting task of dealing with all of the house contents with very little guidance from the estate documents on the best ways to proceed. Anything to help relieve this with modern tools and an empathetic approach is so gratifying to be able to provide.

Documenting the things, with their stories, and gifting while still here is a big part of what Artifcts does and we at FairSplit encourage when creating inventories, and in estate planning. People have told me it is easier to let go knowing they can refer back to the photos and enjoy the memories.

She shared something that stayed with me. She was not the executor. That responsibility had been given to other family members. In fact, the only documents she needed to sign were tied to assets where she was a named beneficiary, along with transfers for jointly owned property. On paper, her role was minimal. But her experience was anything but. She told me she found the entire process overwhelming and far more than she expected. Each time she had to review paperwork, attend a meeting, or deal with the bank, it would take a toll. She’d go home needing to decompress, almost as if each task reopened a layer of grief. It sparked a powerful conversation about something we do not talk about enough: The emotional burden of estate administration. When we choose an executor, we often focus on trust, capability, or fairness. But we don’t always consider timing, emotional proximity, or the weight that role can carry, especially during a period of loss. Even for those not named as executor, involvement in the process can still be deeply triggering. Estate planning is not just about distributing assets. It is about people, relationships, and the lived experience of those left behind.
