60 Minutes - Artificial intelligence project lets Holocaust survivors share their stories forever. Grandma too?
This weekend's 60 Minutes show on CBS promoted the project documenting on video the stories, personalities, voices and answers to questions for future generations. It was amazing to think one could hold an AI conversation with someone generations after they have passed. To a smaller degree it is what we have been recommending at FairSplit.com to do with your elder loved ones when helping them plan their downsizing or estate plans, etc.

Nearly everyone now is a talented videographer with their smart phones. It is so easy to do. It will be a real loss to families should they miss doing it; or a gift they can give to themselves at no cost to simply get a few conversations recorded. Most will be surprised now much the elderly enjoy sharing their stories from silly childhood memories, to the extreme of the Holocaust memories. In families, it is showing interest in our elderly loved ones as people still, when many have started to feel more like a burden or afterthought.
The process can also lead to the hard but needed conversations about medical directives, estate trust or will needs, planning for eventual downsizing, etc. With just a little instruction families can even have their loved ones create these remotely with safe distancing. If they are living with you, why not use this down time to give you and your families a gift for generations. Not everyone will care or love it, but for some, it will be a lasting treasure.
