Cassandra Farrington shared thisIt's exciting to be part of the strategic investment in The Longevity Show via Events Venture Group (my second EVG investment!). This event is on track to bring together the longevity industry in a B2C/B2B hybrid environment, allowing enthusiasts a chance to directly engage with the treatments, testing, brands, and expertise that can be hard to come by when it's not all together at scale. And, as my first B2C-style investment, I'm looking forward to learning a lot on the path ahead.Cassandra Farrington shared thisExcited to announce our strategic investment in The Longevity Show, a fast-growing platform at the intersection of health, science, innovation, and live experiences. This partnership with Carolyn Dawson and Phil Newman reflects EVG’s continued commitment to backing transformational innovation event concepts with strong vision, scalable potential, and category-defining ambition. 🔗 Read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/e3SXGxCn #EVG #Longevity #EventInnovation

Cassandra Farrington shared thisSharing this important clarification for the benefit of the casual cannabis industry observers in my network. While today's Executive Order is meaningful in many ways, it is *not* actually a rescheduling of cannabis - despite what all the headlines across much of the news media state. In fact, this order could go absolutely nowhere, which is just where Biden's version of this action went.Cassandra Farrington shared thisGuys stop sending out pre-written announcements that marijuana has been rescheduled! No it hasn't. Go to the White House website and read the first sentence. "The Order DIRECTS the Attorney General to EXPEDITE completion of the process to rescheduling marijuana to Schedule III of the CSA..."

Cassandra Farrington posted thisI rarely speak up on social (including LinkedIn) on anything, least of all about anything remotely related to politics. And, I want to state publicly that what is happening to University of Colorado Regent Wanda L. James is flat-out wrong. I deeply admire her unending grit, determination and fight to correct the situation. I can't find a good synopsis of the situation to link to; please follow her to get the full story.

Cassandra Farrington shared thisThis is an excellent post for several reasons. The cannabis industry deserves great journalism, and great journalists (in any industry) deserve support. Kudos to Ricardo Baca for highlighting those truisms so effectively. #cannabisjournalismCassandra Farrington shared this🌲 If you consume cannabis, you're part of the problem ... ... unless you're actively supporting #CannabisJournalism. Just wrote about this for GreenState (link below), and here's the truth: While newsrooms shrink nationwide, cannabis journalism matters more than ever. Why? Because cannabis journalists: • Break down complex policies (Mona Zhang) • Shape industry narratives (Will Yakowicz) • Track market evolution (Javier Hasse) • Dig deep into B2B verticals (Noelle Skodzinski) • Drive policy discussions (Tom Angell) • Tell stories behind the flower (David Downs) • Break acquisition news (Debra Borchardt) • Decode market consolidation (John Schroyer) • Forecast industry trends (Chris Casacchia) • Document cultural shifts (Ellen Holland) • Drop hot product reviews (Dane Rivera) • Illustrate the interconnectedness (Kathee Brewer) • Connect global markets (Jeremy Berke) • Capture the big picture (Adam Tschorn) • Champion social equity (Rachelle Gordon) • Spotlight innovation (Charles Warner) • Analyze the news of the day (Lester Black) • Track and trace the culture (Addison Herron-Wheeler) • Profile industry leaders (Garrett Rudolph) • Report regulatory changes (Thomas Mitchell) • Cover the far-flung news (Jessica Reilly-Chevalier) (And so much more, via too many other journos to name here) <3 Eight years ago, I passed the torch as The Denver Post's first-ever Cannabis Editor, a position I held from 2013 to Dec. 2016, when I left newspapers to launch my #JournalismMinded Agency, #Grasslands. Today, I am so thankful as the next generation of journalists covers everything from this down market cycle to emerging market trends to brand success stories to partnerships gone wrong to the cultural transformation we're all witnessing every day. Here's my challenge to you: If you work in cannabis ... if you consume cannabis ... if you care about cannabis ... Support the journalists covering this beat. Subscribe to their publications and newsletters. Share their stories, and tag them. Fund their work. Comment for reach. And thank them for keeping you informed, and holding the powerful to account. Cassandra Farrington liked thisCassandra Farrington liked this"Duda is restless in the best possible sense: curious, energetic and constitutionally unable to leave well enough alone." I grew up in coal country in northeast Pennsylvania. Fourth-generation family of small-business owners. A dad who was out the door at 7, home at 6, and figured out how to do EVERYTHING himself. (That part lives in me whether I want it to or not.) I was a serious basketball player. Division I track. Junior year injury. And then a college handed me $20,000 to plan a gala after I completely abandoned the sport. (I quit the team during preseason. To plan a party. After college, I climbed the corporate ladder for years. Got promoted. Was good at it. Was also quietly miserable in a way I couldn't fully name until I left. Making money for shareholders - at the expense of what I actually believed about what events could do - was slowly killing something in me. So I left. Consulted for nearly a decade. (Which was its own specific frustration, watching clients take 10% of the plan and leave the other 90% on the table. Every time.) And then Marco Giberti, someone I'd known in the industry for years, showed up with an idea, a holding company to back it (Racquet360), and the question: could this be a thing? I said hell yeah. (We said we were probably crazy. Both things were true.) That was RacquetX. Year one: about 60 brands, zero proof of concept, people looking us in the face and telling us we were out of our minds. Year three: 176 brands. Sold-out City Series in five cities. London on the calendar. Sales team hit its revenue target for the first time. A floor plan for 2027 that already exists. An INCREDIBLE team with more passion and grit than I've ever experienced. We hit our stride. I might secretly enjoy making life more challenging, but damn, I love what I do. Full article linked in comments. If any of that origin story resonates, the restlessness, the leap, the thing you built that nobody thought was a real idea, I genuinely want to hear. Drop it below.

Cassandra Farrington reacted on thisI worry all the time that my students will believe the lie that the only choice they have for their future is whether to be someone who benefits from, or someone who suffers from, the violence of the tech oligarchy. After recent announcements by Georgetown that the university will be jumping on the chatbot-education bandwagon, I wanted to find some way to encourage the students here that they don’t have to go along with this, that they can and should fight against it. So I wrote this open letter. It’s addressed to Georgetown students, because they are the ones I work with most closely, but it’s really for every student anywhere in the world who questions, or even believes they should have the ability to question, the imposition of an authoritarian interface in their classroom. https://lnkd.in/eA5rBD_kAn Open Letter to Georgetown Students, In Response to Recent Announcements about "Generative AI"An Open Letter to Georgetown Students, In Response to Recent Announcements about "Generative AI"

“It is my pleasure to write this recommendation for Cassandra. We first met while she interviewed me in 2007 for Citi's Summer Associate Program (graduate internship program), and we have worked together for the past two years as members of the Strategic Business Projects group (SBP). Cassandra is an excellent person to work with in a group setting due to her ability to see past "job assignments" and reach out to any team member who needs assistance. She is a focused and well-organized person who leads projects to completion through a balance of flexibility and structured goal-setting. One of Cassandra's many strengths is her clear communication skills, including her inquisitive nature in order to fully understand a situation/project. In short, it has been wonderful to work with Cassandra on the SBP team and I look forward to continuing that relationship into future projects.”

Just recorded a podcast with Simon Leich. I had a great conversation with Simon on his Leaders with a Mission podcast, about impact investing, Pymwymic, and why we’re doubling down on agtech. For me, this work is personal. I believe we need to rethink how we produce food, use land, and support the people driving change on the ground. Agtech offers real solutions and real investment opportunities, if we approach it with long-term commitment and a clear impact lens. In the episode, we talk about: * Why agtech matters now * How Pymwymic aims to bring values-aligned investors together * What it takes to combine purpose with financial performance If you’re in this space, or curious about it, I’d love to hear what resonates. I spoke with Christien Louviere of BDE Capital about his journey from a $330mm exit to becoming an independent sponsor. Christien shared excellent insights for folks looking to partner with business owners, rather than buy sellers out completely. Below are a few of the topics we covered: - Why he moved from “zero-to-one” startups to a buy-then-build strategy - How Christien's background shaped a focus on growth vs. cost-cutting - Why 20–40% rolled equity is central to his deal structures—and how it builds trust with sellers - Using scenario analysis with AI tools to evaluate management teams and uncover hidden key-person risks - How to identify when a $3–5M EBITDA company truly has a middle management layer—or is still founder-reliant For anyone investing in or buying small businesses, Christien’s approach provides a fresh lens on growth, alignment, and deal structuring. 🎥 Watch the full interview here → https://lnkd.in/ekfkaiej 🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/e86Agx6V

Meet the most AI‑forward title shop in the country right now: Aegis Land Title Group. Last week, Paul Hofmann used Qualia Clear more than any other customer—and it shows. Why Paul is pulling away from the pack: 3× throughput in title exam - Same elite team, far more leverage. At this pace, Paul can triple volume on the current cost structure in 2026. A revenue engine, not just a workflow - Clear pinpoints listings and partners where Aegis should be winning—using prior closings, addresses, and relationships—then auto‑drafts outreach, flags missed opportunities, and loops in feedback to sharpen ops. Chat with the business - Paul is asking natural‑language questions across Qualia, email, and ops data to surface bottlenecks and spot improvement opportunities in seconds. Compounding advantage - He’s first—and all‑in—on AI. As LLMs improve, Aegis improves automatically. That’s not true for most title companies. The next 12 months are going to be fascinating as operators like Paul turn deep tech adoption into market share. It's difficult to say where this is all headed, but it's easy to see that 2026 will be a year of incredible change in our industry.

Let’s talk about concrete agentic worklow and one of our most successful use cases! Issuing or responding to RFPs can create business opportunities or waste time and money. While we don’t believe tomorrow’s discussions between vendors and buyers will be entirely agent-to-agent, they will undoubtedly be highly automated. Each company, on both sides, must find a way to incorporate creativity into their win-win game plan. For many teams, proposal work has become highly admin-driven and a bottleneck. Requirements multiply. Documents pile up. Accuracy is critical, yet the process remains slow, manual, and inconsistent. That’s precisely why at Sia, we built Proposal Drafting Agent, to plug that leak, streamline the process, and help teams win more, smarter. It's our AI-driven solution designed to simplify one of the most demanding parts of the commercial cycle: navigating and responding to complex RFPs. Proposal Drafting Agent changes the equation. By applying advanced language models to incoming RFPs and internal knowledge, the platform automatically analyzes requirements, finds the right supporting material, flags gaps, and produces a structured draft for teams to refine. It's fast, traceable, and designed for collaboration across proposal, business, and legal teams. Less time searching, more time winning. 🏦 One of the best-kept secrets in business financing 🏦 I'm talking about USDA B&I financing. Here's the quick rundown: USDA Business & Industry loans are government-guaranteed loans (up to 80%) designed specifically for businesses in rural areas. Before you click away thinking "that's not me," you'd be surprised what counts as rural. We're talking towns under 50,000 people, which covers a massive chunk of America. 💰 Loan amounts go up to $25 million ⚙️ Use it for equipment, working capital, expansion, even refinancing existing debt 🏗️ Yes, you can finance real estate with it too, but it works for pretty much any legitimate business purpose ⏳ Terms can stretch to 30 years on real estate, 15 years on equipment The government guarantee means lenders can offer better rates and terms than conventional financing. It's designed to help businesses in areas that banks typically see as higher risk, even though there's nothing actually risky about the business itself. The catch? There's paperwork. More than a typical bank loan. But if you're looking at a significant capital need and you're outside a major metro, the effort is usually worth it. 🎯 Bottom line: If you're doing $1M+ in revenue, not in a big city, and ok with a personal guarantee, this program deserves a serious look.

The B2G landscape is changing, but one factor still makes or breaks adoption: TRUST. Chemi Peres recently shared an excellent piece on the rise of B2G partnerships. From climate tech to quantum computing, more startups are discovering that governments can be both transformative customers and strategic allies. It’s a shift I’ve seen firsthand in the counter-UAS world: public procurement processes are modernizing, digital transformation is driving demand, and dual-use innovation is no longer just for the largest defense primes. But here’s the reality we can’t overlook: Even as the barriers to entry fall, the “𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙖𝙥” remains. When your technology has dual-use potential, like C-UAS, where the same capabilities that protect borders can also be misused, the decision to partner isn’t just about technical performance or price. Governments need to know: Will it integrate seamlessly into critical missions? Will it meet the highest ethical and regulatory standards? Will it remain secure and dependable under the most demanding conditions? Bridging that gap requires more than innovation. It takes transparency, validation, and close collaboration from day one, proving not just what your technology can do, but that it will do it responsibly when it matters most. You can read Chemi’s full thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/d4ibdcd9 #B2GPartnerships #DualUseTechnology #Sentrycs #CUAS
