Jesce Horton reposted thisJesce Horton reposted thisBIG NEWS: Cannabis has been signaled to be removed from Schedule I and placed into Schedule III Removing cannabis from Schedule I opens the door to research, recognizes its medical value, and begins to reduce the harm caused by outdated laws This is what we fight for. You know who has not fought for cannabis patients, veterans, and the industry I have been a proud leader of for almost two decades? Diana DeGette. Colorado deserves a representative who has spent their life fighting for real change, and getting real results. That is why I am running for Congress. Jesce Horton liked thisJesce Horton liked thisI am so excited to finally launch the Latino Cannabis Alliance with an incredible board of Latino doers and achievers after months of hard work (& years of frustration). The Latino Cannabis Alliance is the culmination of 8 years working in this industry, my 17 years of loving this plant, a year I spent living in Quito, Ecuador, the countless activists I’ve met across Latin America — from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic — fighting for legalization, and my life as a Latina immigrant navigating two worlds across two continents. 🇪🇨 Despite decades of criminalization and deportation of Latinos for this plant, we’ve still had to fight just to be part of the conversation. I’ve lived it. My board has lived it. Maybe you have too. We will organize. We will make sure Latino voices are in the rooms where decisions are made and that no Latino feels alone in this fight. We will work beyond our borders alongside our Latin American activists, because this movement was never just about one country. Visit our website. https://lnkd.in/eeZbQ6bi for more information on how to get involved. And to my incredible overachieving board of — researchers, award-winning filmmakers, educators, community organizers, lawyers, government consultants, business owners, legislative leaders, and storytellers — thank you. The range of what you bring to this work is exactly why I know we’ll do beautiful work. To the Latino activists out there who haven’t quite found their place or their people in this movement, I am excited to meet you. Seguimos aquí. 🌿

Jesce Horton reacted on thisCelebrating you, Jeannette Ward, NuProject, and these incredible women leading, building, and creating space for others to rise. The impact is real. Honored to witness it and to celebrate alongside you during Women's History Month. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenEntreprenuers #CannabisEquityJesce Horton reacted on thisOf the nearly $5M NuProject has funded to small businesses, 58% went to businesses owned by women. We celebrate the women-owned businesses we fund, not because they are women-owed, but because these women owners create new paradigms in the workplace, in politics, in education, in narratives about how we see ourselves. The Dub Wholesale's executive team is primarily female, so is Renaissant's and KairosPDX's. Calyxeum is female owners and growers in a male dominated industry. Regent Wanda L. James prioritizes fighting for equality and speaking truth to power in hard places, including right now running for U.S. Congress. Make & Mary®'s skincare line celebrates the beauty of women over 50. NuProject funds women-owned businesses that transcend centuries old inequalities - few women execs, toxic workplaces, gender pay gaps, ageism, lack of support for parenting employees. We’re proud of the women we fund for proving there’s a better way in business. A better future for all is what we are funding. NuProject's low-interest loans and grants are only possible because of our funders who share these values: Wyld, Joy Hudson and Marissa Rodriguez, Nancy Whiteman, Prosper Portland, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Business Oregon

Jesce Horton liked thisJesce Horton liked thisMy final panel at CERAWeek was a direct conversation about something that will define the future of energy: people. We can’t power the future without a skilled workforce ready to build it. That’s why Siemens Energy is committing $1 billion to U.S. manufacturing expansion and investing in the talent it takes to deliver more energy, more reliably, for more Americans. In this conversation, I talk about what it really means to turn that investment into action— an opportunity to building the grid, our engineers are building substations and seeing the product of their work. I was joined on stage by Van Jones, CNN who moderated a candid discussion; Reginald DesRoches, President of Rice University and Debbie Pickle, Chief Human Resources Officer at Williams. We covered why workforce is a competitive necessity for the energy sector, as it was a key conversation during this year´s #CERAWeek.

Jesce Horton reacted on thisJesce Horton reacted on thisI’m Excited to share that my sister, Vanessa Simmons, is officially joining me as a co-host on the For Good Podcast. As the podcast has grown, I started feeling like it was time to bring in a co-host. I really wanted a strong female voice to help shape the conversations and perspectives we’re bringing to the show. My team and I started talking through different possibilities and thinking about who that person could be. Around that same time, I was on a regular check-in call with my big sister Vanessa. I mentioned that we were looking for a co-host… and without hesitation she said, “Cut those auditions and count me in!.” Honestly , the more I thought about it, the more it just made perfect sense. Not only is she my sister, but we’ve worked together most of our lives. She’s someone who has always looked out for me, supported me, and told me the truth when I needed to hear it. Of course it helped that the episode I interviewed her on did extremely well! It feels meaningful & intentional to bring her into a space that I’ve been building and growing. She’s going to bring incredible perspective, wisdom, and authenticity to the conversations we’re having. Sometimes the best collaborators are the ones who have been with you from the very beginning. I’m excited to see where this journey continues to take us. 🚀

My key takeaway from the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy Dairy Sustainabiltiy Alliance meeting in Anaheim yesterday… There is an impressive amount of work and an impressive amount of alignment in the U.S. dairy industry relative to sustainable dairy production. I’ve spent a number of years in the beef sustainability space and am now getting engaged with dairy and I have been quite impressed with the work they have done in messaging, research, innovation and their efforts to understand what comes next. A presentation by Eve Pollet talking through the cultural forces shaping the world over the next 10 years, and the potential impact on dairy, was incredibly insightful. ✅ Her five forces: 1. A post-generational world 2. Personal resilience economy 3. Biology on demand 4. Zero-channel ecosystem 5. The monetization of trust There is a lot to unpack here, which I won’t even try, but… I was really intrigued by the concept of monetization of trust and how decentralized technologies will become increasingly valuable. I’ve heard other similar thoughts around the value of “personal connections” in a world where it’s increasingly difficult to know what’s real and what’s generated. It’s interesting to think about where and how animal protein producers will play in this environment. Clearly dairy is is positioning themselves to meet this challenge. There is certainly no lack of good challenges to address! #SustAg25

The Almond Board of California is working alongside the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to help almond growers access funding for practices that improve on-farm sustainability. This assistance aims to help growers start conversations with their local NRCS office by translating on-farm practices into NRCS practice codes. This may give NRCS staff a clearer picture of the grower’s operation and make applying for funding easier. Suterra’s mating disruption solutions are a proven, sustainable tactic for managing navel orangeworm in almonds. Growers who incorporate tools such as Puffer® or CheckMate® NOW-F in their Integrated Pest Management plans might qualify for funding from NRCS. The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute’s new guide highlights how on-farm anaerobic digesters can turn waste into renewable energy, valuable byproducts, and farm resilience. With thousands of dairy and swine farms but only a handful currently using digesters, the opportunity is wide open. This isn’t just about energy — it’s about creating new revenue streams and making better use of what’s already there. 👉 In my next post, I’ll explore the policy side of this opportunity — and what it will take to unlock Minnesota’s biogas potential. 📖 Full report: https://lnkd.in/gVKqDuSk #Biogas #AnaerobicDigestion #RenewableEnergy #MinnesotaFarms #WasteToEnergy https://lnkd.in/gcmFBSwn
