Instead, it is about leaving it better than you found it. Every team I have led has received the same consistent message that the goal is to improve your job so much that, eventually, you work yourself out of it. When you build systems that run without you and develop people who can step up, you create room for your own growth and theirs. That mindset shaped my entire career. When you do that, one consequence is you can then find yourself without a role. That’s where I find myself today as part of a recent RIF, and so I’m coming to my network with an ask: If your organization is looking for someone with deep business acumen, a strong engineering foundation, broad cross functional experience, and a track record of transforming operations, I’d love to connect. I’m exploring director level roles in manufacturing operations, and I’m open to opportunities that broaden my horizons and make use of the full breadth of my experience. In my most recent role, I had the privilege of transforming two manufacturing plants and building teams that became truly high performing and resilient. I may not be there to watch their continued success, but I know the work we did together will stay with them — and with the organization — for years to come. I often think about Bud Foster, the legendary defensive coordinator for my beloved Hokies. He didn’t chase star recruits. Instead, he built complete players. Players who understood the whole game, worked relentlessly, and could adapt to whatever the team needed. That approach created defenses that lived in the top 20 in the nation year after year. That’s the way I lead in operations. Understand the whole business. Strengthen every system you touch. Develop people. Deliver results.

Brad Ramos shared thisLeaders, pay attention!Brad Ramos shared thisDavid just escaped from a full-time job in a toxic work environment where the best employees quit, and the worst people got promoted to management positions. The people with all the ideas were shunned and pushed aside, while the tush-kissers with no plans got promoted. The harder David worked, the worse he got treated. Finally, when a completely unqualified person got promoted to be his manager because that manager had a personal relationship with one of the VPs, that was the last straw; David resigned. It was hard for him to leave the company he worked so hard for, but he felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders the minute he was out of there. I read this story from Liz Ryan’s article in Forbes, and it is so reminiscent of many people experiences in many organizations worldwide. Great employees, who came into the organization with an inspired heart and a spark in their eyes, ready to make a difference, got uninspired and demotivated when they soon realized that their environment was toxic to the core. Never settle for any toxic, fear-based organization. It’s not good for your professional development, health, and energy; there are many options out there; take advantage of them because you deserve better, and you deserve to work in an environment that helps you become the very best version of yourself. It's just completely illogical. I understand why people do it… Fear is a motivator in the micro short term. It is the most disgusting weapon that a human can use. If you know because of the way you were brought up or the way you were managed or the DNA you got from your family member, that you use fear - you should start by being kind to yourself. Remember kindness is the ultimate strength not just in business, but in life.

All - I've known Kevin for several years. While our professional paths never crossed due to industry differences, I can speak to the fact that he's a trustworthy person who carries with him a passion for his industry while always caring the most about the people on his team(s).
I can 100% speak to his character, his devotion to any project he involves himself with, as well as his dedication to the people he surrounds himself with.
If you're a recruiter or business leader looking for someone with his engineering or operational background, Kevin is 1,000% worth an interview and his common-sense approach to things will win you over.
He doesn't need my recommendation (though I fully give it), he just needs the reach to get him in front of the right people. When you think about someone you want in your professional corner, the type of person who doesn't spend relentless time on social networking is the type of person you want.
