Reflecting on the Spring Meetings of The World Bank and International Monetary Fund, I am energized by the discussions on the future of payments and financial infrastructure. It was an honor to engage with government leaders and share Visa’s vision for 2030. Here are three key takeaways from my engagements:   ➡️ Discussions emphasized the need for improving cross-border payment systems to facilitate smoother transactions, reduce costs, increase speed, and ensure transparency. More than 80% of remittances go to low- and middle-income countries, and many of these transactions are cash.   ➡️ Leveraging digital payment innovations to drive economic growth and financial inclusion was a major focus. Private sector innovation, when combined with public sector partnerships, can enhance payment infrastructure, and bridge the digital and financial gap. The Center for Strategic and International Studies has highlighted the case of Kazakhstan leveraging such partnerships to drive digital transformation.   ➡️ Regulatory harmonization among countries was highlighted to foster a stable and resilient global financial system. According to the Navigating Global Financial System Fragmentation report, the global economy could incur costs ranging from $0.6 trillion to $5.7 trillion due to fragmentation, potentially amounting to as much as 5% of the global GDP.   #Innovation #WBGMeetings #FinancialInclusion
