The busiest shopping season of the year is around the corner, and fresh data shows the workers clocking in for their shifts have never felt less safe. Our latest research with the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC), published today, reveals: 📈 Safety concerns on-the-job are escalating: 35% of retail workers feel unsafe at work, up almost 30% from last year. Reports of physical assault increased 57% year-over-year. 🔄 This violence is threatening retention in an industry that already faces high turnover. More than half (52%) of retail workers say they are likely to leave their current job in the next 12 months due to personal safety concerns.  ❗ The locked cabinets and checkout gates that shoppers are noticing more and more? Retail workers and consumers said they're inefficient and disruptive — and 74% of consumers say these measures are deterring them from shopping in-store.
