Space is the officially the trillion dollar frontier with the SpaceX IPO filing today. 🛰️ There are 9,800 satellites in orbit right now. 115,000 more are planned by 2030. And we have no air traffic control for any of it. Every day, operators managing satellites worth hundreds of millions of dollars are making collision avoidance decisions with incomplete data and no shared standard for communicating risk. 💥 A single collision can produce fast-moving debris clouds that cascade and damage additional satellites, rendering havoc across spaceflight operations. This is the problem a Techstars company called Slingshot Aerospace was built to solve. 🎯 🧠 What Slingshot built is essentially the air traffic control system that space never had. Their AI doesn't just track objects — it predicts behavior, coordinates maneuvers between competing operators, and surfaces risk before it becomes a crisis. ⚠️ Their data shows that 30% of collision alerts involve two active satellites — operator versus operator, with no common operating picture between them. 📡 The infrastructure we depend on — GPS, weather data, communications, financial transactions — runs on satellites. In the past, the coordination layer protecting all of it is held together with manual processes and goodwill. 🌍 We talk a lot about AI transforming industries.
