  • Through a National Neighborhood Promise® grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, a new, all-inclusive 7,000-square-foot Sustainability Pod at Play for All Park in Round Rock, Texas, is helping bring recycling and sustainability education to life through play. In partnership with the Play for All Foundation, the grant supported the addition of interactive elements, including a recycling truck slide with sorting lanes and a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round, supporting the park’s mission to be “a fun place to play and develop new skills for people of all abilities.” In addition to funding the project, our team members recently put the finishing touches on the Sustainability Pod and spruced up the other parts of the park during our National Neighborhood Promise® Day of Service.

  • Our team supported an aerospace and defense customer with the decommissioning of an aircraft hangar fire suppression system —safely removing and disposing of approximately 60,000 gallons of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF). Because AFFF contains PFAS, it must be managed by certified experts. Following DoW-recommended guidance, our team transported the material for secure disposal in our arid climate, Subtitle C landfill in Beatty, NV. Learn how: https://lnkd.in/gdxzvETs

  • Our team recently joined Community Harvest Network for a National Neighborhood Promise® Day of Service, unloading and stocking food donations and completing facility improvements to support future growth. Community Harvest Network works to combat food insecurity across Southern Maryland by increasing access to food for families. In addition to our volunteer efforts, a grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation is expanding their Culinary Workforce Development Program, which equips students with learning differences with culinary and workplace readiness skills so that they can seek employment in the food-service industry. Through our National Neighborhood Promise® program, we partner with nonprofits to help expand access to essential resources and build more sustainable communities through grants, in-kind support and volunteerism.

  • Republic Services' Pacific Region Compost Facility (PRC) hosted students from Oregon State University College of Business. The students, focusing their studies on sustainability, asked thoughtful and technical questions and showed great passion for the future of sustainability and environmental solutions. Thank you to Oregon State University for making opportunities like this possible. We loved sharing what we do and showcasing the impact of composting and sustainability in action. #Sustainability #RepublicServices #OregonStateUniversity

  • At Republic Services, sustainability starts with education — and people like Kaylie W. are leading the way.  As a Sustainability Ambassador, Kaylie works directly with local communities, schools and organizations to show people how to recycle correctly. From hosting visitors at our Seattle Recycling Center to breaking down common recycling myths, she helps ensure people sort their recyclables and keep materials out of landfills.   Kaylie’s top recycling tip: Don’t bag your recycling. It might seem helpful, but plastic bags can cause sorting machine failures at recycling centers.

  • Zero OSHA recordable injuries or illnesses over the last seven years. Our team at our Wayne Disposal facility in Belleville, Michigan, has achieved an important milestone—one that’s especially meaningful during Safe May and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when safety comes first. This achievement reflects a companywide culture focused on our top value, Safe. It’s our team following protocols. It’s ongoing training and strong accountability at every level. It’s a commitment we make to choose the safe action every single time to protect our employees, our communities and the environment. Congratulations to our Belleville team.
