  • Zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2050. That’s the bold goal behind the Oakland County’s new Safety Action Plan, a project our team was proud to spotlight at this month’s infrastructure conference hosted by American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan and Michigan State University. Our very own R. Michael Cousins, GISP and Taryn Juidici, PE, LEED-AP shared how OHM used GIS and crash data to help RCOC improve roadway safety across the county. The project approach included: 🔹 Mapping more than 47,000 crashes across 2,700+ miles of roadway to identify high-risk intersections and corridors 🔹 Evaluating safety improvements like roundabouts and signal optimization 🔹 Supporting more equitable safety planning decisions by considering vulnerable road users and proximity to schools The result: data-driven insights that help prioritize future safety improvements across Michigan’s second largest county road system. 🚧 Read more about how the plan is helping advance roadway safety: https://lnkd.in/gRs88GjF #ACEC #Infrastructure #MichiganInfrastructure #AdvancingCommunities

  • Imagine trying to locate a 100-year-old stormwater pipe using nothing more than a decades-old paper map and hand-scribbled notes. For years, that was reality for public works crews in the historic City of Saline, Michigan, as they worked to repair and maintain aging water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. Until now. Today, crews have access to updated digital maps on demand, pinpointing underground assets faster and with far greater confidence before digging, repairing or planning improvements. That transformation earned OHM Advisors’ GIS Solution Development project for the City of Saline a Project of the Year award from the APWA Michigan Chapter in the Technology/Innovation category. 👏 The impact goes far beyond mapping technology. Public works teams can now coordinate projects more efficiently, respond faster to maintenance needs and make more informed infrastructure decisions. For residents, this supports more reliable utility services and smarter long-term planning for the community. Congratulations to the City of Saline and OHMers Marcus McNamara, R. Michael Cousins, GISP and Cade Armstrong, whose work helped bring this project to life. #AdvancingCommunities

  • Harnessing the power of green spaces to help build more resilient neighborhoods is exactly the kind of work OHM Advisors Principal Patrick Droze and his Detroit office team are passionate about. As aging infrastructure and increasingly intense rain events continue to challenge Detroit communities, residents have experienced flooded basements and impassable streets during extreme storm events. Patrick helps lead the city’s response, overseeing Detroit’s $20 million Stormwater Infrastructure Program and long-term efforts to strengthen neighborhood resilience. That impact is one reason Patrick was named one of Crain's Detroit Business’ Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering & Construction.👏 A key part of Patrick’s work has been helping neighborhoods turn vacant land into green spaces with natural drainage solutions that can capture and absorb stormwater before it overwhelms aging sewer systems, improving long-term neighborhood resilience. Patrick has also helped grow OHM Advisors’ Detroit office into a 47-person multidisciplinary team that delivers infrastructure, streetscape, park and community revitalization projects across the city and throughout Southeast Michigan. Please join us in congratulating Patrick on this well-deserved recognition! #AdvancingCommunities

  • Freshwater mussels filter our waterways, feed wildlife, stabilize riverbeds, create habitat and serve as one of the most sensitive indicators of water quality. North America has the highest diversity of freshwater mussels in the world, but many populations are declining and now protected by state and federal laws. OHM Field Ecologist Kayla McRobb protects them, helping safeguard ecosystems while ensuring infrastructure projects move forward responsibly. Kayla and her team of 15 divers identify and relocate protected mussels before projects begin, an essential step in keeping projects compliant and on schedule. She and her team recently relocated more than 4,000 mussels in the St. Mary’s River, which borders Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Canada. The effort required navigating deep water, tight timelines and active river traffic, conditions that highlight the complexity and precision behind every survey. Above the water’s surface, Kayla is just as impactful, co-leading the Women in Field Services group, creating opportunities for mentorship, connection and growth for women in the field. • And we’re glad to have you on board, Michael Orcino, PE, MBA 👏 This is an exciting step for us as we expand our work at the federal level. Real impact in our line of work looks like safer jobsites, stronger teams and work communities can trust. 👷♂️ That’s what OHM Senior Construction Technician 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘇 delivers every day and why he’s been named our 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 – 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 this Construction Safety Week. Andrew doesn’t just support projects. He raises the bar. Across nine active job sites this year, he’s kept teams aligned, accountable and moving forward, with safety never taking a back seat. He recently became an OSHA and First Aid trainer, leading hands-on safety courses and equipping teammates with skills they carry with them to every site. His focus on hazard awareness isn’t just a checklist. It’s changing how teams think and operate. His impact shows up where it counts. Every single day. Congratulations, Andrew! 👏 #OHMAdvisors #AdvancingCommunities #ConstructionSafetyWeek

  • What if every household in a community could turn on the tap and trust their water—without paying a dime for the infrastructure? That’s exactly what’s happening right now in the Village of Pellston, MI.    As we kick off #DrinkingWaterWeek, we’re proud to highlight our partnership. Together, we’re helping this Northern Michigan community transition from individual private wells impacted by PFAS—synthetic “forever chemicals”—to a new municipal drinking water system.    The project delivers water supply, treatment, distribution, elevated storage and service line connections for every resident. It provides long-term water security with no debt retirement and improves property values, insurance rates and fire protection.    A tangible example this Drinking Water Week of what smart infrastructure investment can deliver for communities. 🚰    #CleanWaterMatters #OHMAdvisors #AdvancingCommunities

  • Check out the spring edition of ASHE National’s Scanner magazine, featuring an article by OHM Advisors' Aaron Call, P.E. on the Delaware County Turbo Roundabout, recently named the Central Ohio ASHE Project of the Year. This deep-dive provides a great look at how advanced lane choice and raised lane dividers can deliver safer, more efficient traffic operations in a fast‑growing corridor. In the piece, Aaron highlights: 🔄 How lane pre-selection reduces conflict points and weaving. 🔄 A modified‑knee layout that handles high left‑turn volumes without sacrificing efficiency. 🔄 Early performance insights and practical wins since opening in late 2023 (Spoiler: It includes calmer, more predictable traffic and reduced energy use). • Congratulations to the Farmington Downtown Development Authority and the City of Farmington, Michigan, on earning the 2026 Great American Main Street Award from Main Street America. This recognition reflects years of steady investment in a downtown that prioritizes people, from placemaking efforts to preservation and support for local businesses. Farmington has been a client since our founding nearly 65 years ago, and we’re proud to have seen its evolution firsthand.

Live from the Main Street Now conference in Tulsa, Downtown Farmington won the 2026 Great American Main Street Award. “Main Street Farmington demonstrates how bold placemaking and preservation can reshape a community’s trajectory,” said Erin Barnes, President and CEO of Main Street America. “By reclaiming parking lots as gathering spaces, restoring landmark buildings, and fostering an inclusive culture of entrepreneurship, Farmington has created a downtown where history fuels innovation.” We're honored to receive this recognition and proud of our two decades of Main Street work. Thank you to everyone who helped make this moment possible! - Farmington Downtown Development Authority Main Street America #DowntownFarmington #GAMSA #GreatAmericanMainStreet #MainStreetAmerica

  • 🧡 Grateful for everyone who showed up for Go Orange Day. Across project sites and offices, Team OHM showed up in orange, even a few of our smallest OHMers and four-legged friends, to support a message that couldn’t be more important: safe actions save lives. It’s a powerful reminder, but not a one-day commitment. Slow down. Stay alert. Respect every work zone. Because getting everyone home safely is something we all share.
