To help support that idea, the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) is in the thick of Recycling in Action! This month, the organization is helping people better understand what happens to their recycling after it leaves their curb—by inviting them into their local Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to see for themselves. Big News: APR is launching Recycling in Action month! 🎉 This May, recyclers across the country will be opening their doors to the public to showcase how plastic recycling really works! Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and plastic recyclers in over 20 cities will welcome community members, local stakeholders and policy makers to see what happens after recyclables leave the curb. ♻️ Why does this matter? ✅ It builds trust in recycling by letting people see it in action first-hand. ✅ It connects household recycling efforts to real environmental and economic benefits. ✅ It demonstrates the vital need to invest in more and improved recycling across the country. "Recycling starts in millions of homes, but many people don’t know what happens next," says APR President & CEO Steve Alexander. "By seeing the process up close, we hope to inspire even greater participation and investment in recycling."
