Romania just unveiled one of Europe’s largest operational quantum-secure networks – IonQ’s technology is the engine behind it. We’ve helped build 1,500km of quantum-secured infrastructure connecting six major cities, creating one of the largest QKD networks outside of China. It’s one thing to talk about the future of cybersecurity; it’s another to see it running at a national scale. This is a massive win for our partners at POLITEHNICA Bucharest and a huge milestone for the EuroQCI initiative. 𝐊𝐢𝐩𝐮 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐱 𝐈𝐨𝐧𝐐: 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 Kipu Quantum and IonQ are joining forces to accelerate the transition to practical quantum computing, combining leading trapped-ion hardware with high-performance, industrially useful quantum software. This collaboration spans joint research, application development, platform integration, and commercial models that enable both companies to bring quantum solutions to market together. 𝐀𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: · 𝐈𝐨𝐧𝐐 will provide Kipu with production access to its quantum compute systems, enabling the development, refinement, and scaling of enterprise-ready quantum algorithms and applications. · 𝐈𝐨𝐧𝐐 hardware will be integrated into the 𝐊𝐢𝐩𝐮 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐇𝐮𝐛, allowing customers to seamlessly access IonQ systems within a production-oriented environment. · 𝐊𝐢𝐩𝐮 will resell 𝐈𝐨𝐧𝐐 compute access and deliver end-to-end solutions and services built on IonQ technology. · 𝐊𝐢𝐩𝐮 will develop use-case-specific quantum applications designed to generate measurable industrial impact. · 𝐈𝐨𝐧𝐐 will leverage 𝐊𝐢𝐩𝐮-developed software within its commercial customer engagements, strengthening its application-layer capabilities and expanding the value delivered to enterprise clients. Both companies will collaborate on forward-looking research and next-generation product development tailored to industrial needs. A defining element of this collaboration is the alignment between hardware architecture and software engineering. IonQ’s trapped-ion systems, including their native all-to-all qubit connectivity, offer architectural flexibility that supports complex circuit designs, advanced algorithmic structures, and application-driven workflows across industries. Kipu will design its algorithms and software to fully harness these capabilities. Practical quantum computing will not be achieved by hardware or software alone. It requires an integrated stack built around real customer challenges and measurable outcomes. This partnership is about improving that stack - together. The devastating landslides in Niscemi, Sicily sparked concern for that community around the world. IonQ was proud to step up and support Italy’s National Research Council (CNR) and Civil Protection authorities with advanced quantum technologies to help track ground movement, analyze evolving conditions, and assess ongoing impacts, helping local authorities and residents manage the situation. Providing timely, accurate data in moments like this reflects how quantum sensing and computing can support real-world challenges when it matters most. We thank the U.S. Consulate General, Naples and U.S. Naval Air Station Sigonella for their cooperation in this concrete example of the scientific and institutional collaboration between Italy and the United States.
