  • Most people think the energy crisis stops at the gas pump. It doesn't. It's in utility bills. Grocery receipts. Restaurant tabs. Prescription costs. According to former U.S. intelligence officer Wes Herche, the disruption we're feeling today won't fully resolve until 2032 at best. In this episode of Plugged In: The Full Conversation, Wes connects dots that most energy conversations never touch—from distributed solar in a war zone to what U.S. homeowners can do right now to take back control. If you want an honest, insightful conversation about how to own your own energy, this episode is for you. Watch the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/enTZnwSp

⚡ A smarter approach to home EV charging is here. Schneider Electric EV Charging & Energy has officially launched Schneider Charge, a new Level 2 residential EV charger designed to help electricians tackle home electrical capacity challenges while delivering the charging experience homeowners expect.   “Electricians are looking for solutions that help keep projects moving while delivering the charging performance homeowners expect. Schneider Charge combines the trust electricians have in Square D with integrated SmartAmp technology that simplifies installation and helps contractors complete more charging projects with less complexity.” – Shawn Bonacorsi, Head of Electrification Solutions, Schneider Electric, North America Operations.   Integrated with SmartAmp™ load-management technology, Schneider Charge can automatically adjust charging output based on household electrical demand—helping reduce the need for additional equipment and keep more residential EV charging projects moving.   Together, Schneider Electric’s smart charging technology and Qmerit’s nationwide network of experienced EV charging installers are helping create a more connected path from charger selection to professional installation—making it easier to bring reliable Level 2 charging home.   ➡️ Read the full announcement: https://hubs.ly/Q04vc9Q90 #EVCharging #HomeEVCharging #Electricians #ElectricalContractors #Electrification #SchneiderElectric #SchneiderCharge #Qmerit

  • Buying solar shouldn't require becoming an overnight expert in financing and installers just to get there. House Digest recently wrote about how EnergySage helps homeowners get clear, straight answers so they can go solar with confidence. Thanks for covering how we help people make informed decisions. By 2030, the U.S. electrical workforce is projected to shrink by 14%, while demand for electricians is projected to climb by up to 25%. That gap is already showing up as longer wait times, higher project costs, and unlicensed shortcuts that put homes at risk. In this episode of Plugged In, host Kristina Zagame sat down with 26-year veteran electrician Matt Trout to unpack why the shortage is accelerating, what "home electrification" means for demand on the trades, and how homeowners can find a qualified electrician for their next project. We also spoke with Liz Fraser, General Manager of Home Electrical Services, about how Qmerit is helping close that gap by connecting homeowners with vetted, certified electricians. ➡️ To learn more and watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gC8-hEqy

  • For years, the advice was own, don't lease. Including from us. But with the federal tax credit gone, third-party ownership now makes up the majority of new residential solar sales in the industry—up from a minority share just last year. New leasing products are more consumer-friendly than in the past, making them a viable alternative to owning while still helping you save on your electric bills. "Not everyone can pony up $30,000 or get a loan. New leasing models are a vehicle that gives people the opportunity." — Sam Thompson, EnergySage It’s still just as important as ever to understand the terms of what you’re getting into, which EnerySage Energy Advisors like Matthew Schuler, included in the piece, help homeowners across the country do. The Washington Post turned to our team to help make sense of the shift. Full piece at the link. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eKmSPS33

Energy costs are up nearly 18% year over year — but homeowners who go solar are saving between $37,000 and $154,000 on electricity bills over 25 years. We see it on our marketplace every time energy prices spike: people act. Solar is still one of the most effective ways to take control of what you pay for power. Climate creator Lauren Bash went solar through EnergySage and watched her bill drop from $900 to $22 per cycle. Her story is in this piece. The bet paid off. • The grid doesn't have a power problem. It has a peak demand problem. Instead of investing billions in new infrastructure for just ~50 peak hours a year, utilities should first tap into the rooftop solar and batteries homeowners already have. Spoiler: it can handle it. Right now, Massachusetts has a chance to get this right with H.5175. Utilities should have to prove distributed energy *can’t* meet peak demand before investing in expensive upgrades that raise your rates. If you live in MA, contact your state senator and urge them to include policies that prioritize solar, batteries, and virtual power plants over costly grid upgrades → https://lnkd.in/eS4RFaR5

  • When energy prices spike, homeowners act. Fast Company's Kristin Toussaint covered what we've been seeing on our marketplace as the Iran conflict disrupts the global energy market. In the 11 days after the escalation began on February 28, we saw a 17% increase in homeowners requesting solar quotes, a 23% jump in requests for home batteries, and a 30% increase for EV charging installs. Energy price shocks have happened before. What's different now is that there are solutions within the average household's reach. As our Group CEO Naman Trivedi puts it: “Geopolitical instability has a way of making energy independence feel urgent and personal. People don’t want their family’s utility bills tied to events happening halfway around the world.” Read the full piece: https://lnkd.in/eFtDBT8s
