U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at critics as a potential agreement with Iran remains elusive, saying that Tehran "really wants to make a deal" and that it will be a good one for the U.S. and its allies. His comments come as air strikes between the U.S. and Iran resumed over the weekend, with each side claiming to have hit military targets near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that typically handles around 20% of the world's global oil traffic. "Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

Nvidia has selected Chinese humanoid robot maker Unitree for the first robotics system the U.S. chipmaker is selling to researchers from Stanford to ETH Zurich, the company announced Monday. The system combines Unitree's nearly 6-foot-tall H2 humanoid robot with Nvidia's Jetson Thor hardware, which includes the company's advanced Blackwell GPU for on-device artificial intelligence capabilities. Nvidia's humanoid-focused AI models, known as Isaac GR00T, and simulation systems are part of the new robot testing package, according to a press release. The robot also uses mechanical hands made by Singapore-based Sharpa. PitchBook lists Qiming Venture Partners among the startup's backers.

Nvidia has emerged as the world's most valuable company by dominating the market for AI chips in the data center. Now the company is expanding its prowess to chips that will serve as the main processor for personal computers, entering an arena that's long been ruled by Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, Qualcomm and Apple. During a keynote address at Taiwan's Computex conference on Monday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled a new N1X processor made alongside Microsoft. It will be incorporated into a new RTX Spark superchip, debuting in the fall on a fresh line of Windows PCs from Microsoft, Dell, HP, ASUS, Lenovo and MSI. "Microsoft and Nvidia are going to reinvent the PC," Huang said. "This is the first completely re-engineered, reinvented line of PCs that has happened in 40 years."

Oil prices rose Monday after Israel ordered troops to push deeper into Lebanon, renewing concerns that clashes with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group could threaten a fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, gained 2.45% to $93.35 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate futures added 2.8% to $89.78 per barrel. The escalation in hostilities, which followed the U.S.-brokered Israeli-Lebanon talks in Washington on Friday, dimmed hopes that Washington and Tehran were nearing an extension of their ceasefire arrangement.

Berkshire Hathaway agreed Sunday to acquire homebuilder Taylor Morrison Home in a $6.8 billion deal, deepening the conglomerate's bet on the U.S. housing market after a prolonged downturn. The Omaha, Nebraska-based company will pay $72.50 per share in cash for Taylor Morrison, according to a statement. The offer represents a 24% premium to the homebuilder's closing price on May 29 and values the company at about $8.5 billion, including debt. The acquisition marks one of the first major strategic deals under Warren Buffett's successor Greg Abel, who took over as CEO at the start of 2026. The acquisition, expected to close in the second half of 2026, is relatively modest by Berkshire standards as it's sitting on a cash hoard nearing $400 billion.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is compiling a supplementary budget to help households with the cost of living, but it's also created skepticism about whether she can stick to her promises about debt issuance. The budget was largely in line with market expectations, at about 3 trillion yen ($19 billion), but comes as Japan still struggles with higher energy prices, rising subsidy costs, and a weak yen. The budget also marks a reversal from her earlier position that extra spending was not needed. She also said the total bond issuance for the calendar year of 2026 would remain unchanged from the original budget plan, according to Bloomberg.

Asia-Pacific markets were set to open mixed on Monday as investors monitored lingering uncertainty around U.S.-Iran negotiations after President Donald Trump said he was in "no hurry" to strike a deal to end the conflict, now in its fourth month. The U.S. and Iran have still not finalized an agreement to end the conflict, Trump said in an interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, on Fox News Saturday. He added that he is pressing for a deal that would ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. While he said he would prefer a swift resolution, he stressed that he was not rushing negotiations and warned that military action could resume if talks collapse.

For Thapanee Techajareonvikul, the conviction that women belong in top leadership roles was never unusual. Her late mother, Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi, was instrumental in building TCC Group into a multi-billion-dollar empire spanning beverages, property, retail and manufacturing, with holdings including Chang beer and Singapore-listed Fraser & Neave. Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, her father, ensured his two sons and three daughters received equal opportunities within the family business. Today, each sibling oversees a different part of the empire.
