I had the honor of attending the 2026 Scholarship Awards & Hall of Fame Ceremony hosted by the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation at the Army Navy Country Club, representing CALIBRE Systems as a sponsor. The ceremony recognized six outstanding veteran women inducted into the Hall of Fame along with five Champion inductees whose advocacy and leadership continue to expand opportunities for women across the Army community. One of the Champion inductees was Charlene Denise Austin, a passionate advocate for military families who—among many impressive titles—can also claim “wife of the Honorable former Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin.” Each of the inductees shared powerful stories of resilience, leadership, and service. Their journeys served as a reminder that the legacy of women in our Army continues to grow through courage, mentorship, and commitment to those who follow. It was also great reconnecting with a former fellow JAG Corps Soldier, BG (Ret) Melinda Dunn—a reminder that the Army family is never too far away. Moments like this reinforce something I strongly believe: women are a collective force to be reckoned with. When we support one another and share our stories, we strengthen the legacy of leadership and service for generations to come.
