🏆 Design awards typically go to the showpiece, not the material it’s made from. MAXtect ultra-high-performance concrete would like a word. The Architect's Newspaper has named Amrize MAXtect a winner in its 2026 Best of Products Awards, in the Building Materials + Facades – Stone & Concrete category. A panel of architects, designers, and industry experts judged entries on innovation, aesthetics, and performance — all on display in MAXtect projects like the Obama Presidential Center, UNFRAMED Miami Beach, and Nike Miami. 🗨️ "When we present UHPC to architects, you can almost see a light switch go on," says Chris Bird, senior structural engineer at TYLin, who helped engineer the Obama Center's letter facade. "All of the crazy things they've sketched but never thought could actually be built suddenly seem possible in precast concrete." Thank you and congratulations to everyone behind MAXtect, and to the architects and designers putting it to work. ⏩ Get ready for the Yottabyte era. Our CEO, Jan Jenisch, was just speaking to a packed house at #Yotta 2026 in Vegas about construction for a future of unimaginably large data volumes. What changes when data centers grow from megawatts to gigawatts? Boris Lester of CoreWeave, Aaron Bilyeu of Cloverleaf Infrastructure, and Doug Mouton of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) joined Jan on the panel moderated by Dan Loosemore of DatacenterDynamics to explore. The answer in short? Gigawatt campuses start to look less like real estate developments and more like highways, airports, and power plants. What does that mean for building materials? 💪 Strength to secure ever-heavier racks of servers, cooling, and cabling. 🤖 Floors smooth and tough enough for the robots that maintain the racks. ⏱️ Speed to stay on schedule, with concrete that cures fast and systems that go in quickly. 🏭 Manufacturing scale + national distribution + local expertise to get material to the job site reliably and on time. ⛈️ An envelope that stands up to the weather and supports energy efficiency. “With the speed and scale of the AI infrastructure build-out, our construction materials are mission-critical elements of the supply chain to enable the successful scale-up of AI,” Jan said. Meeting those demands takes partners working together from day one. It also takes people: the drivers, plant operators, engineers, and skilled trades building North America's future from the ground up. 👷 #BuildYourAmbition #Yotta2026 #DataCenters #AIInfrastructure #Construction

🎤 When it comes to discussing building the future, THIS is the room to be in. Hosted by Amrize, The Architect's Newspaper, and Vitra, with panelists Jeremy Alain Siegel of BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, Mina Hasman of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), Aisling Carlson of Greentown Labs, and our own Nollaig Forrest — moderated by Jack Murphy of The Architect's Newspaper. 🗨️ The topics: Resilience in the face of crisis, exemplified by BIG's work on the BIG U flood-protection project in NYC. How Greentown Labs helps startups get ideas out of the lab and onto the job site. The role of data centers in accelerating investment in advanced technologies. And why moving innovation forward takes an entire value chain, from developers and architects to engineers, materials partners, policymakers, capital, and contractors. 🗺️ The location: Vitra showroom in Manhattan, with its concrete floors, soaring ceilings, and expansive windows providing the perfect backdrop for a conversation at the intersection of architecture, specification, materials, and innovation. Our favorite line of the day, from Mina Hasman: "If the client is on board, anything is possible." Thank you to our panelists, to Jack, to our friends at Vitra for the beautiful space, and to everyone who joined us. We left with a lot of ideas and new friends, too. 📷 Ashley Barker Photography 🎥 Video highlights coming soon #BuildYourAmbition #Architecture #Innovation #Construction #BuildingMaterials

📢 Live from New York, it's a new partnership! Amrize is joining the Data Center Innovation Initiative as a technical partner. Led by nonprofit investor Elemental Impact, with Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft, the initiative aims to make data centers a catalyst for next-generation energy and materials technologies. Elemental is investing $500,000 to $5 million per project in up to 10 young companies working on tomorrow’s concrete, metals, energy storage, and cooling. Here's where we come in. Plenty of promising technologies work in a lab. 🧪 The real test is getting them onto a job site. Our team will bring deep cement and concrete expertise, testing capabilities, and materials to help founders prove their ideas against the realities of construction — from performance and standards to supply and scale. Nollaig Forrest and Kori Recalde, MEM are with the Elemental team in NYC this afternoon as new partners are welcomed. Thank you, Elemental, for bringing us in. We're proud to join you and can't wait to break ground together. #BuildYourAmbition #DataCenters #Innovation #BuildingMaterials #Concrete

👏 Shout out to our Kori Recalde, MEM, who is joining the World Economic Forum's impact meetings this week as WEF launches a new playbook for AI infrastructure, which Amrize helped shape. AI may feel digital, but the infrastructure is decidedly physical. There's no one-size-fits-all data center. Early engagement, collaboration, and advanced material use are essential to matching the build to the location. Here's what the publication offers: 🧭 Key decision questions for every stage of a facility's life, from site selection and design to building materials. 📍 Six market profiles, from established hubs like Northern Virginia to fast-growing markets like Texas and Phoenix, show how the right approach shifts with local power, water, land, and community conditions. 🏛️ Practical steps for developers, operators, and public authorities include publishing regional resource maps and engaging communities early in the process. Getting these decisions right early could unlock up to $1 trillion in planned investment by 2030, WEF estimates. Thank you, Kori, for engaging with colleagues across industries and bringing the building materials perspective into the conversation. We're proud to be part of this! 🔗 Link to the playbook in the comments #BuildYourAmbition #DataCenters #AIInfrastructure #Construction #Infrastructure

The Obama Presidential Center opened in Chicago this summer with a speech on its facade. Not printed. Cast in Amrize MAXtect ultra-high-performance concrete. 458 letters, each over four feet tall, "floating" on a 225-foot tower. Here's what it took to build a wall of words with no visible connections: 🔤 Every letter is structural. It carries load like a beam or column would. Only letters aren't uniform like beams and columns. Engineers at TYLin had to figure out how to group letters into panels, say, "O-B-A" or "A-M-E," then select connection points and paths for reinforcement. 🏋️ The panels weigh up to 14,000 pounds and were designed to look weightless. Each one hangs off connection points small enough to disappear from inside the building. 🧩 Fine Concrete built a reusable letterpress: 52 letterforms that could be reassembled letter by letter. Ditching disposable molds saved materials and cut waste. Each piece snapped into place like a Scrabble tile. 🌬️ The whole thing was tested at wind speeds 150% above Chicago's expected maximum. No cracking. 🔬 The material was ready because the partnership was. Fine Concrete and Amrize had spent more than a decade refining MAXtect together, with Amrize's technical team running trial after trial in Fine Concrete's lab. The result has the durability of stone and the ductility of steel, and makes this the tallest and longest span of UHPC on any building in North America. Congratulations to Fine Concrete, TYLin, Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, Heintges, Envel, Amrize's Uchenna Nwogu and team, and everyone involved in crafting a facade built to stay legible for many presidential terms to come. #BuildYourAmbition #ObamaPresidentialCenter #Chicago #Architecture #UHPC

Leading from the market means being in it. Our executive team spent the past few days at our operations in Texas, Missouri, and Illinois — where growth is the story. 🚛 At Midlothian, they saw a new silo take shape. It’s one of two 15,000-ton silos going in alongside five new loading lanes, increasing truck loading capacity by 80% to keep pace with the Dallas-Fort Worth region. While in the neighborhood, they also visited the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center: IMAGItect concrete below, an Elevate roof on top — Amrize from foundation to rooftop. A stop at our Duro-Last plant rounded out the roofing story. 🏞️ At Ste. Genevieve, they took in the progress at North America’s largest cement plant, where we are expanding capacity by 660,000 tons to 5.5 million tons per year to serve markets along the Mississippi. 🦅 At Joppa, they spent time in the control room, labs, and maintenance shop that keep 500,000 metric tons of cement flowing every year to projects like the Kentucky Dam modernization. That left time for a quick photo op with Metropolis's local superhero! Behind all this progress are teams working every day to keep fast-moving markets supplied with cement that proudly carries our Made in America label. Thank you to Michael Moser, Tracy Crowther, Mark Huber, and everyone who made these visits possible. #BuildYourAmbition #Infrastructure #Manufacturing #Growth #PeopleOfAmrize

Want concrete with the grain of wood? Precast panels installed in weeks instead of months? A streetscape that continues your building aesthetic? You got it! 📖 The Calgary Central Library is a great example of how materials help architects realize their vision — and of why the The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada RAIC | L'Institut royal d'architecture du Canada IRAC is so important. As the national professional body for Canadian architects, the RAIC brings architects and building material experts together. We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with the Institute, and glad to be featured on their channels at the end of last week. Architects have told us they want material partners in the conversation earlier. This November, we’re taking that to heart by hosting a three-day RAIC professional development session for local architects and emerging professionals at our Bearbrook facility in Ottawa. 🙏 Thanks to the RAIC for helping us listen to what the people designing Canada’s buildings actually need, and show how our materials and systems can help architects build their ambition. #BuildYourAmbition #Architecture #Design #Canada 📷 Calgary Public Library, designed by Snøhetta and DIALOG. Amrize supplied 187 precast architectural panels, precast landscape elements, and more than 15,000 m3 of ready-mix concrete, made using our Exshaw cement.

A riverbank as architecture? A power plant? A walking path? “My answer is yes,” says Carol Ross Barney. “Design improves every single one of those things. It’s the connective tissue of the city — the stuff you touch, you see, that affects your life every day.” The star of our latest CAB Voices video, Carol and her team at Ross Barney Architects design architecture you can walk, sit, run, and play on — not just look at. Think: 🌊 The Chicago Riverwalk, conceived with Sasaki and built with Amrize inside. It gave Chicago back its riverfront with promenades, benches, and “rooms” between the bridges — and is built to flood and drain as part of the city’s flood relief system. 🚲 The 606 turned a century-old rail embankment into a 2.7-mile elevated park — with help from 5,000 tons of Amrize materials and a partnership with landscape architects Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. It was deliberately routed past churches, schools, and playgrounds so kids can bike between them without touching a city street. 🏅 In 2023, Carol became the first Chicagoan since Mies van der Rohe to receive The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Gold Medal. Watch our film, produced with the Chicago Architecture Biennial, to see how the lifelong Chicagoan uses design to make the everyday extraordinary. 🔽 #BuildYourAmbition #Chicago #Architecture #UrbanDesign #BuildingChicago
