Nelson Tome shared thisDid you know!! The name of Coquitlam city is of “Kwikwetlem” origin and signifies a "small red salmon”. “Kwikwetlem” means “red fish up the river”. It was named to honor the importance of salmon abundance. To celebrate the contributions of the Indigenous People I hosted a lunch for all our employees at our Lafarge Coquitlam location situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the “kʷikʷəƛ̓əm” (Kwikwetlem First Nation). Thank you @Salmon & Bannock for serving us and making the celebration more delightful. National Indigenous History Month, is to celebrate and commend the culture, rich history and their contributions in shaping our country. Their unique heritage need to be respected and preserved. #LafargeCanada #Salmon&Bannock #IndigenousPeoplesMonth #WorldIndigenousPeoplesDay

The dedicated Parents Advisory Council (PAC) stepped up—raising an incredible amount of funding over a few years through chocolate sales, scratch cards, and direct appeals while on a long provincial funding waitlist. We couldn’t let that incredible dedication go unmatched. Amrize is thrilled to donate the sustainable ECOtect concrete with RCA to help bring this dream playground to life! Nelson Tome liked thisNelson Tome liked thisThis summer, I had the privilege to work as an intern with Amrize at the Chilliwack Pipe & Precast plant. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to gain my first professional experience and learn from such a great team. I gained valuable experience in distribution, logistics, and day-to-day business operations. Working with tools such as SAP helped me develop practical skills and a better understanding of how parts of a business work together. A big thank you to Ravi Dhingra and Jeremy Fairchild for your training and guidance, and to Mark-André Grenier and Nelson Tome for giving me the opportunity to be part of your team. I am thankful for everything I learned during my time at Amrize and I look forward to staying connected with everyone who I had the opportunity to work with. I will carry these experiences with me as I continue my studies at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University.

Nelson Tome liked thisNelson Tome liked thisOver the past few weeks I’ve had a lot of people reach out — past clients, competitors, and people I’ve worked with over the years. To be honest, it’s been pretty humbling. It’s also been a good reminder of what actually matters. Great people. Clear processes. Strong relationships. When those three things are there, success tends to follow. When they’re not, it’s an uphill battle. I’ve never really thought too much about it, but hearing from people about their experience working together — how they felt, what they learned, where they ended up — that’s what sticks. As I spend time on what’s next, those are the things I keep coming back to. Those are the values we'll be building around.

Nelson Tome liked thisNelson Tome liked thisToday I had the pleasure of visiting our Earl Creek facility on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. There is nothing quite like getting out of the office and onto the site to see the incredible work our team does firsthand. During my tour, I had the opportunity to engage with our frontline employees, discussing the current state of the industry and answer questions about the events shaping our field. It’s these candid conversations that remind me why our people are our greatest asset. A major highlight of the trip was recognizing the dedication of several team members who truly embody the values of our company: Milestones in Service: A huge congratulations to John McDonald and Victoria Klassen for their years of service. Your loyalty and expertise are the backbone of this operation. Safety Excellence: I also want to give a special shout-out to Caleb Fawkes. Caleb sets a phenomenal example for all of us through his meticulous attention to detail, proactive job planning, and unwavering commitment to being a safe worker. Thank you to the entire Earl Creek team, our Plant Manager Tomas Ortega Mejía and our amazing Site Supervisor Benjamin Davies for the warm welcome and for everything you do to keep us moving forward safely and efficiently.

Nelson Tome liked thisNelson Tome liked thisGrowing up in the City of Abbotsford, the teachers at Jackson Elementary and MEI Schools | Mennonite Educational Institute played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to give back. We recently hosted a group of students from Abbotsford School District 34 at our Amrize facility. Seeing their curiosity and genuine excitement for the industry was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. A huge thank you to BC Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association for connecting us with these bright minds. If these students are any indication of what the next generation brings to the table, the future of our industry is in excellent hands. 👷♂️🏗️

It was terrific to have him with us and see the commitment to continuous improvement and World Class Safety standards from this team.Nelson Tome liked thisEvery day, hundreds of professional Amrize Building Materials mixer drivers deliver our #EVERtect products to job sites across North America. In Western Canada, a dedicated team of experienced Driver Trainers is continually raising the bar on our training standards while coaching and supporting our drivers across the region. I had the opportunity to connect with them this week to learn more about the latest standards and emerging technologies, and to discuss the critical role our delivery teams play in serving our customers. I was even tested on the Heavy Truck driving simulator; I won't disclose my final score but let's say I am grateful for the high standards our drivers have and the professionalism they display every day in a challenging but important role.

Grateful to be part of the Carlson Construction Ltd. leadership team participating in this year’s ICBA Alberta Generals & Owners event. Our industry continues to evolve, but one constant remains — successful projects are built on strong relationships, early collaboration, and trust established long before construction begins. Bringing owners, consultants, and contractors together in settings like this helps create alignment early and ultimately leads to better project outcomes. Looking forward to reconnecting with industry colleagues and meeting new owners, developers, and collaborators. #AlbertaConstruction #ICBA #Leadership #ConstructionManagement #BuildingRelationships

New Post: Temporary Fence Supply Chain Strategy for Canadian Projects - https://lnkd.in/gAU9secQ Temporary Fences & Steel Fences | DB FencingManaging your temporary fencing supply chain strategically can make or break your construction projects. This comprehensive guide reveals how Canadian businesses can move beyond treating fencing as a throwaway commodity and instead build a supply chain that prevents costly delays, ensures regulatory compliance across provinces, and protects against hidden safety risks. You'll discover proven techniques for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and strategic sourcing that transform temporary fencing from a potential liability into a competitive advantage. Why Your Fence Supply Chain Strategy Can Make or Break Your Project Most companies treat temporary fencing like an afterthought, but smart businesses know that a disconnected supply chain creates hidden costs and operational nightmares that can sink entire projects. Picture this: a multi-million dollar construction project comes to a complete standstill. Not because of labor issues or equipment failure, but because the temporary fencing didn't show up when promised. Sound far-fetched? It happens more often than you'd think. When businesses treat Canada portable temporary fencing like just another commodity to check off their list, they're setting themselves up for expensive surprises. Emergency rental fees that blow budgets apart. Site shutdowns because the fencing doesn't meet local codes. Equipment theft because the perimeter wasn't properly secured. These aren't worst-case scenarios—they're the daily reality for companies that don't take their fence supply chain seriously. This guide will show you how to flip the script. Instead of playing catch-up with fencing emergencies, you'll learn to stay ahead of demand, cut lead times, and make sure the right fencing shows up exactly where and when you need it. We're talking about more than just saving money—we're talking about protecting your entire operation. The Hidden Costs That Kill Your Bottom Line Poor fencing planning doesn't just cost you money—it creates a domino effect that can topple your entire project timeline. When you're scrambling for last-minute rentals, you're paying premium prices that can be three times higher than planned purchases. Those "quick fix" solutions add up fast. Project delays hit even harder. Every day a site sits idle because you're waiting for proper fencing can cost thousands in lost productivity. Your crews are sitting around, your equipment is idle, and your client is getting frustrated. Insurance companies also take notice when sites aren't properly secured, and stolen equipment can send your premiums through the roof. The smart move? Stop treating fencing as an afterthought and start planning for it like the critical infrastructure it actually is. How Proper Fencing Becomes Your Secret Weapo

Schedule certainty is vanishing faster than steel lead times can recover. Yet you still carry the contractual liability when dates drift by a single day. You know that baseline programmes state intent, not reality. Throughout Ontario’s ICI sector and across GCC megaprojects, we are averaging 14 percent delay overruns against P6 schedules approved only twelve months prior. The 2023 FIDIC update now treats any slippage beyond the critical path float as an immediate Employer risk notification trigger. Such tightening of contract language exposes you to cascading liquidated damages, typically 0.15 percent of contract value per calendar day in Ontario and 0.10 percent across MENA. On a CAD-250 million hospital, five weeks of drift can erase an entire profit margin. The root is rarely manpower; 62 percent of slips referenced in the CitiesCore audit stemmed from late submittal approvals and RFIs stalled longer than seven days. You can restore control by embedding a rolling four-week look-ahead tied directly to contract notice clauses. Our team inserted this micro-schedule into the interchange flyover project in York Region, and combined it with an automated Common Data Environment reminder that fires at 72 hours before float expiry. Result: submittal turnaround dropped from eleven to four days, protecting 19 critical activities and saving CAD-4.8 million in avoided penalties. Replicate that workflow and pair it with a weekly executive dashboard that flags any activity at 80 percent float consumption. Remember, technology is only persuasive when it speaks the language of your senior scheduler. Feed them variance data in earned hours, not colorful pie charts, and you will see real-time corrective discussions replace forensic blame sessions. That cultural pivot, more than any AI plugin, anchors predictable delivery. Invest in that shift. Which monitoring tactic has given you the highest return on foresight this quarter? Share your approach so we can benchmark its impact across regions. #Construction #BIM #RiskManagement #MENAConstruction #OntarioInfrastructure @CitiesCore CAT @Constrata Consultants
