Today, Ambience Healthcare is expanding chart-aware intelligence across the full inpatient workflow, from admission through discharge. Most ambient AI technology was built for outpatient care. Inpatient is different: in roughly half of all encounters there's no conversation to capture, and 70% of clinically important diagnoses have no signal in a transcript at all. Hospitalists need a tool built for how they actually work. Ambience now synthesizes labs, imaging, medications, prior notes, and vitals across every inpatient workflow to produce accurate H&Ps, progress notes, hospital stay summaries, and discharge summaries — whether or not a recording is ever captured. In evaluations across four health systems, Ambience's chart-aware discharge summaries resolved 91% of documentation gaps missed by standard documentation. At St. Luke's Health System utilization across inpatient workflows exceeds 70% and NPS scores rose by 31 points. We're hiring a Staff Engineer, Agent Productivity. This role is foundational to how we build. At Ambience, we're transforming how care is delivered by supporting clinicians to focus on what matters most, their patients. The work you do here is what brings that vision to life. We believe the same infrastructure that makes engineers effective makes AI agents genuinely useful: fast local stacks, deterministic tests, clear repo context, and repeatable verification loops. You'll own all of it: dev environments, CI pipelines, internal tooling, agent tool access, and the verification systems that let teams ship with confidence. If you have 7+ years of platform or devex experience, sharp instincts on where agents deliver and where they break down, and you're based in or near San Francisco, we'd love to talk. Most ambient AI vendors in healthcare measure utilization by asking, "Did the clinician ever use the product?" But we think that's the wrong question. If most of your clinicians are using a tool but only using it in a few visits each day, you're not seeing the benefit. That's why encounter-level utilization is our key metric: what percentage of visits is the clinician actually using the technology. It's a much harder standard. The industry average for ambient AI on this metric hovers around 40%. When we scaled at MultiCare Health System, Ambience's encounter-level utilization sustained nearly 80% throughout, 2x the industry average. That's the standard we think every vendor in this space should be held to, because that's what it means to be an accountable vendor. You don't get to pick the metric that makes you look good. Instead, you drive against every single visit, every single day, and you stand behind that number. Why was MultiCare's utilization so high? Before selecting an enterprise platform, they ran a rigorous three-way pilot, evaluating the leading ambient AI vendors head-to-head across hundreds of clinicians and dozens of specialties. Ambience achieved an NPS score of 63 when the next highest NPS score was 7. If clinicians don't enjoy a product or believe it can solve their problems, they aren't going to use it. Congratulations to the MultiCare team for setting the standard for AI utilization in healthcare, and for their successful Ambience scale-up from nearly 200 pilot clinicians to 1,188 clinicians within four months.

The best implementations feel less like a vendor engagement and more like a true partnership. We recently set a new record with an Epic ambulatory build at a major academic medical center in the mid-Atlantic: completed in 2 days — with initial testing done by day 4. We did it together with a stellar partner team that was aligned at every level, from IT to clinical leadership. Grateful to work alongside teams like this as we support clinicians and transform patient care.

Clinical documentation is essential, but it can also take time away from patient conversations and contribute to burnout. Ambient AI technology is helping clinicians spend less time typing and more time focused on patient care by automatically capturing parts of the clinical conversation and assisting with documentation. Ambience Healthcare Co-Founder and CEO Nikhil Buduma joined Paula Newton on CNN International's Quest Means Business to talk about how Ambience is transforming healthcare with AI. For health systems that partner with Ambience, clinicians are using the technology for +80% of patient encounters. Nikhil made the case for why this moment matters: clinicians are drowning in administrative work, and the patient-physician relationship — the heart of medicine — is suffering for it. Ambience not only supports clinicians during the encounter, but prepares them before every visit and handles billing and compliance afterward. It's active across every care setting, including outpatient, emergency department, inpatient and nursing. In partnership with major academic medical centers and health systems across the country, Ambience is redefining how this category of technology supports clinicians and enhances patient care.

If you want to know if you’ve built something that actually solves problems, you can’t just look at how many people adopt it. You need to measure how often they’re using it as a true test of accountability. At Ardent Health, that number is 90% encounter-level utilization — a figure more than 2x industry standards. In Fortune, Dr. FJ Campbell, Chief Medical Officer at Ardent Health, makes the case for why scribe-only technology falls short: it can't reason over a patient's full history, leaving documentation gaps, coding errors, and denials unaddressed. Ambient intelligence is the evolution: a platform that understands the full patient record, not just what was said in the room. One that captures complexity, closes coding gaps, and grounds every note in the patient's actual longitudinal history. We're proud to be Ardent's partner in deploying ambient intelligence and achieving industry-leading results: ✅ 90% encounter-level utilization ✅ 44% less documentation time ✅ 57% drop in pajama-time charting ✅ 3X return on investment At a time when hospitals are operating on razor-thin margins, even small improvements in financial performance can determine whether a health system has the flexibility to invest, grow, and retain physicians. That's what a self-funding AI transformation looks like: margin improvement that creates the capacity to invest further — and compounds over time. Read more at the link in the comments.

What if the real physician shortage isn’t solely about how many doctors we have—but how their time is spent? “Doctors spend more time proving they delivered care than actually delivering it," shared Ardent Chief Medical Officer FJ Campbell in this Fortune article. It's not only a key driver of burnout, but it's a fundamental challenge to access. Dr. Campbell shares how AI can help shift the balance—reducing documentation burden, streamlining workflows, and giving providers back time to care for patients. Solving the physician shortage starts with giving physicians their time back to care for patients. https://lnkd.in/g3EJfy_H
