Ardent Health’s Post

What if the real physician shortage isn’t solely about how many doctors we have—but how their time is spent? “Doctors spend more time proving they delivered care than actually delivering it," shared Ardent Chief Medical Officer FJ Campbell in this Fortune article. It's not only a key driver of burnout, but it's a fundamental challenge to access. Dr. Campbell shares how AI can help shift the balance—reducing documentation burden, streamlining workflows, and giving providers back time to care for patients. Solving the physician shortage starts with giving physicians their time back to care for patients. https://lnkd.in/g3EJfy_H

Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing sectors for AI adoption—but it’s not driven by hype. It’s driven by pressure. Thank you, FJ Campbell, for highlighting how we’re leveraging AI across Ardent to help address a very real and growing physician shortage.

One of the things that really stood out to me while reading this was the statistic that physicians spend only about 27% of their time actually caring for patients. I love what ambient AI is doing to help here. Excited to see what other innovations help improve that statistic and look forward to being a part of those conversations. Congrats to Dr. FJ Campbell for being featured in this article.

Been there. The documentation, compliance, and administrative burden is real across every sector and specialty. A lot of providers leave the profession. It’s a heavy load but thankfully technology is helping!
