  • ✴️ ‘Open Call for Proposals: Kick-starts’. 📢 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 28 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 2026, 13:00 𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐓.  The ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) 'Open Call for Proposals for Kick-starts' is offered under the European Space Agency - ESA's new ACCESS programme. Kick-starts are a type of Feasibility Study and last six months. Businesses from any sector can apply at any time throughout the year. Submitted proposals will be evaluated in batches – with the next batch deadline on Friday, 28 August 2026 at 13:00 CEST. The aim of a Kick-start is to determine whether a service is technically feasible and commercially viable, and whether there is demand for it. Kick-starts must involve the use of at least one space asset, such as satellite communications, satellite Earth observation data or satellite navigation. • 💧 NOW OPEN: ‘Digitalisation of the Water Sector’. 📢 Call for Proposals: Proof-of-concept Studies and Pilot Projects. Water sanitation has emerged as an urgent global concern. Strengthening sanitation systems, preventing pollution and improving wastewater treatment are essential steps, but achieving this requires tools that allow for better monitoring, enforcement and long-term planning. New solutions are required to: ▫️ prevent and detect non-revenue losses across the entire supply chain ▫️ improve wastewater treatment performance ▫️ raise awareness ▫️ locate leakages ▫️ repair sanitation and distribution infrastructure This Call for Proposals has been prepared with the support of several partners, many of whom are members of ESA’s Space for Bioeconomy Task Force, including Water Europe, Gap Inc., Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance/UN-Habitat (GWOPA) and UpLink – World Economic Forum. Satellite data and technology must play a key role in the solutions proposed for this opportunity. Find full details and apply ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eYrbG5AE

  • ↗️ ‘Open Call for Proposals: Proof-of-concept Studies and Pilot Projects’. ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) Open Calls for Proposals are open invitation for businesses to apply for a funding activity relating to a space-enabled application or service for any industry, market or topic at any time throughout the year. 🟪 Proof-of-concept Studies aim to reduce risks and validate the market opportunity by designing the service concept, engaging users, and developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). 🟩 Pilot Projects focus on integrating, developing and testing the service or application with customers in the primary target market. The pilot demonstrates the solution in a real operational setting, confirming its value-propositions. Find full details and submit your proposal ➡️ https://lnkd.in/evGYTq2i

  • In case you missed it… 🚢 Last month our team was in Singapore for the 20th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW). Bringing together industry, policymakers and innovators from across the global maritime sector, this year’s event focused on shared priorities including safety and resilience, sustainability and decarbonisation, digitalisation, and international collaboration. Three companies shared the stand with us, each showcasing their European Space Agency - ESA-supported project: ▪️Awake.AI (Finland) – a port call optimisation system designed to support more efficient and sustainable port operations. ▪️ DNV (Norway) – a satellite-based methane detection programme over land and sea, supporting emissions monitoring and decarbonisation. ▪️AMPHITRITE (France) – a pilot high-resolution satellite-based surface current monitoring service aimed at improving routing, safety and operational efficiency. Nil Angli, Maritime Lead for ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) said: “We had a hugely productive week in Singapore and as usual the maritime sector extended a warm welcome to us. Space is no longer a niche enabler in the maritime sector - it is becoming part of the operational backbone supporting safer operations, better decision-making and the transition to greener shipping."
