This gives London Gatwick a flexible route to call off a range of technology and engineering services from Fujitsu, as they progress their major expansion and capital investment programme. Our first pieces of work under the framework will support network design, camera‑based detection and digital‑twin capabilities, areas where our teams have strong experience from previous engagements across UK aviation and wider industry. Our re‑engagement with London Gatwick reflects the value of long‑standing collaboration within the aviation ecosystem, where continuity and capability matter. We’re looking forward to supporting London Gatwick as one of their technology partners over the coming years.

To be recognised for part-time reserve service is something I am incredibly proud of. Balancing civilian life alongside a commitment to serve is both challenging and rewarding, and none of it would have been possible without the unwavering support, patience, and encouragement of my family over many years. The demands of reserve service are rarely carried by the individual alone, and this recognition belongs as much to them as it does to me. I have also been fortunate to serve alongside exceptional colleagues across the RAuxAF and wider Royal Air Force (RAF) family, whose professionalism, friendship, and shared sense of purpose have made the journey so rewarding. A truly special and memorable day for us all at Windsor Castle, and one I will always treasure. #KVRM #RAuxAF #RoyalAuxiliaryAirForce #RoyalAirForce #WindsorCastle #ReserveForces #Service -

Dan Greasley - MAPM liked thisI’m pleased to be joining Claverton as Operations Director. Over the past 40+ years in IT services, I’ve had the opportunity to lead delivery, transformation, and operational performance across organisations including DXC Technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Fujitsu and Telefonica Tech. Throughout that time, my focus has been consistent: ensuring that complex services are delivered with clarity, discipline, and accountability, and that organisations can scale without losing control of quality or outcomes. Claverton is at an important stage in its growth, with strong foundations and clear ambition. The opportunity now is to translate that into consistent, high-quality execution at scale. In my role, I will be responsible for all operational aspects of the business, strengthening delivery capability, embedding robust governance, and ensuring we continue to meet the expectations of our clients as we grow. I look forward to working with the team and our clients to build on that foundation.Dan Greasley - MAPM liked thisWe are really pleased to share some exciting news at Claverton. As we move into the next phase of growth, bringing in the right leadership is critical - not just for us internally, but for the clients who rely on us to deliver consistently at scale. We are delighted to welcome Darren Ham to Claverton as our new Operations Director. Darren brings over 40 years of experience in the IT services industry, including senior roles within global Tier 1 organisations. More recently, he has helped transform the professional and managed services capabilities of a mid-tier provider - improving delivery, scalability, and operational control. That kind of experience matters. Because as organisations grow, the biggest risk isn’t strategy - it’s execution. At Claverton, Darren will take ownership of all operational aspects of the business - ensuring we continue to deliver with consistency, quality, and control as we scale. For our clients that means more reliable delivery, stronger operational governance and the confidence that services will scale without compromising quality. Darren - great to have you on board. We’re lucky to have you. More to come later in the week with our second senior appointment.

Just 1 week to go until our events team at BiP Solutions hosts the DPRTE Scottish Defence Procurement & Supply Chain Summit 2026 in Glasgow on Wednesday 20th May at the Marriott - https://lnkd.in/eRF22ngN Against a backdrop of increased UK and international defence spending, the opportunity for suppliers has never been greater. With governments continuing to strengthen defence capability and resilience, there is a growing focus on building more diverse, innovative and agile supply chains, creating significant opportunities for SMEs to play a larger role. A key highlight will be the panel session “Prime Contractors: Opening Doors for SMEs”, bringing together leading organisations from across the defence sector to share practical insight on how SMEs can access, engage with and grow within this evolving landscape. With strong representation from prime contractors and industry leaders, the discussion will focus on real routes to market, collaboration opportunities and how suppliers can position themselves for success as investment across defence continues to accelerate. If you are looking to connect with buyers, understand the landscape and unlock new commercial opportunities, this event is not to be missed. Final registrations are now being taken: https://lnkd.in/erBXQUm7

🇬🇧 Congratulations to our UK colleagues at PUBLIC (Solita company) and across the ecosystem on the formal launch of UK Defence Innovation (UKDI) — a bold and strategic leap forward for agile defence and dual-use adoption. With a dedicated £400M annual budget and a clear mandate to accelerate technology into the hands of users, this aligns fully with the future of how innovation must work in defence. At Solita, we echo this direction. Across NATO and EU member states, we are actively supporting fast-moving innovation adoption — not as a paper exercise but as an operational mission. What we see repeatedly is: - Innovation is happening — but adoption often dies in the “lab-to-field” gap - Defence still largely runs on hardware timelines, while software evolves weekly - Dual-use and non-traditional tech offer major advantages — but need integration support - Human factors, data ownership, modular backbones, and governance are often overlooked - Speed matters: timelines of weeks and months, not years and decades We’re not another start-up — we’re the integrator and enabler, connecting end-users, primes, SMEs, critical infrastructure, academia, and command levels into a cohesive, secure, and mission-ready whole. Solita is proud to: - Translate strategy into executable tech pathways - Ensure modular, interoperable backbones for autonomous systems - Bridge ethical, technical, and operational domains with human-centric design - Support national and NATO-wide pilots with integration-ready tech This UKDI launch is more than national reform it’s a template. Let’s ensure that momentum travels across borders with aligned timelines, tested systems, and real-world results. 👉 Let’s talk adoption, not just innovation. #DefenceInnovation #UKDI #NATO #DualUse #PUBLIC #Solita #TechForDefence #InnovationAdoption #AgileDefence

We spent a lot of time at DSEI UK discussing contractors, and specifically how hard it's getting to engage them in the UK defence space. Firms are contending with five-day-on-site requirements, regulatory complexities, #IR35 blanket calls, and a UK security clearance backlog. The talent exists and the projects exist, but the issue is how the two connect and how firms can stop their programmes stalling while they wait for the two to align. Mark Davies has pulled some notes together on what’s driving this, and a few ways employers can start untangling the mess. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eVQtcrj8 #defencetech #contractors #defence

The UK Royal Navy has revolutionised its basic training, with officer and ratings starting and completing the same basic training before their paths then diverge. From June 1, everybody is going to show that they can "walk the walk" prior to going off and specialising in their individual roles. "The new Initial Royal Naval Training course replaces the previous separate pathways for Officers and Ratings, creating a consistent starting point for everyone joining the Royal Navy which removes duplication across the training pipeline. This modernised approach reflects how the Royal Navy operates today, with Officers and Ratings working together from the outset on operations worldwide." https://lnkd.in/gsTsqu2X

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a supplier cluster training session at #Boeing Defence UK, focused on Continuous Improvement and Quality Systems Development. Having completed my Yellow and Green Belt certifications in CI five years ago, this session reignited a passion I’d almost forgotten. I’ve returned to the office inspired and keen to implement (where possible) some of the tools and thinking we discussed. Ironically, like the 8 #wastes, here are 8 key takeaways that really stood out to me: 1. Build quality into your processes – don’t inspect it in later. 2. “Systems thinking, not silo thinking.” 3. Value stream mapping – focus on both activity level and task level. 4. In your own ISO: “Say what you do and do what you say.” 5. Cross-collaboration and buy-in are critical – foster a growth mindset. 6. Feedback loops are vital. 7. Shockingly… value-added work is typically <5%! 8. And finally, if you’re sat in an ivory tower — always remember: Genchi Genbutsu! (Go and see for yourself) A huge thanks to Toyha Cox for organising the day and Martin and Cassim for hosting such an engaging and thought-provoking session. #ContinuousImprovement #LeanThinking #Quality #ProfessionalDevelopment #BoeingDefenceUK #CI #GrowthMindset #lightfoot #lightfootinternational #SME #cohort2

As project professionals, we know that capability, confidence and community are at the heart of successful delivery. That’s why our Corporate Partnership with the Association for Project Management (APM) continues to be such an important part of how we invest in our people across BAE Systems. I’m pleased to share a short video created by Juliet Hamilton and Lesley Dobson with the Association for Project Management APM, featuring colleagues from across our business: Jess Regan (DI), Katie Rogers (Air) and Roger Hunter (M&L). They each reflect on how the APM has supported their development, from accessing leading industry standards to exploring new pathways and connecting with the wider project community. It’s inspiring to hear first hand how our project professionals are shaping their careers and strengthening their practice through this partnership. My thanks to the APM for their continued collaboration and commitment to advancing our profession. Seeing all the recent posts from our project professional community sharing their achievements of their APM PMQ and accreditation to ChPP continues to make me super proud of the difference we are making and there is more to come 😁

SMEs are discouraged from defence opportunities, and it’s holding innovation back. Babcock's research, conducted in partnership with the University of Exeter, suggests aspects of defence procurement can be risk-averse, restricting SME growth and participation. Many of the businesses we spoke to described persistent barriers to growth, limiting their ability to help redefine what defence looks like in the 21st century. @DI25 Digital Learning: A Strategic Imperative for Defence Readiness, Productivity, and National Prosperity It’s been great to hear from digital thought leaders at Defence Information 2025 over the last couple of days. As the global security landscape becomes more volatile and technologically complex, the UK’s ability to respond with agility and resilience has never been more vital. The Strategic Defence Review makes it clear: a whole-of-society approach is essential to safeguarding our national interests. At the heart of this transformation is digital learning—a powerful enabler of warfighting readiness, workforce productivity, and long-term prosperity. Whether on the front line, in support roles, or across our industrial and academic base, digital skills are now mission-critical. Digital learning empowers our people to: · Adapt quickly to emerging technologies and threats · Collaborate effectively across domains and disciplines · Innovate continuously to maintain our strategic edge But this isn’t just a Defence issue—it’s a national one. Building digital capability across society ensures we can harness the full potential of AI, cyber, data, and automation to protect our way of life and economic security. Here are three high-level actions every citizen, organisation, and leader should consider: · Invest in Digital Skills - Whether you're in Defence, education, business, or government—prioritise digital upskilling. It’s the foundation of resilience. · Strengthen Partnerships - Collaboration between Defence, industry, academia, and international allies is key to staying ahead of adversaries. · Stay Informed and Engaged - Understand the evolving threat landscape. Awareness is the first step toward preparedness. The revolution in technology is here—and so are the threats. Let’s ensure we’re ready, together. #DigitalDefence #WarfightingReadiness #StrategicReview #CyberSecurity #DigitalSkills #WholeForce #NationalSecurity #MyDigitalSkills
