After previous film and installation presentations at Pearl Art Museum Shanghai, SØRLANDETS Kunstmuseet Kristiansand, Honor Fraser Gallery Los Angeles, and Vancouver Art Gallery, Sougwen Chung premiered a live performance version of F.R.A.N. at Line Cube Theatre Shibuya earlier this month as the opening event of MUTEK.JP. This performance was possible due to the support of Embassy of Canada | Ambassade du Canada in Japan, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan and Panasonic. As a member of the WhatsApp Foundations team, you’ll be partnering with product designers and the Brand Team to define the illustration system for WhatsApp globally. You will be establishing processes, education and collaborating with other WhatsApp designers on rethinking some of our core systems and innovating within constraints. Your main focus will be on iconography and visual expression, from creating new icon systems while maintaining and updating the current systems in place. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented creative designer who strives for simplicity, is a strategic partner to their cross-functional peers, and understands how form influences function. They are an expert in their craft, with the ability to inspire and collaborate with other designers on the team. A transformative experience that's difficult to put into words. Foremost, I’m so grateful to Jack. For his confidence in me. For teaching me so much. For giving me agency and a voice of influence across the company. And notably, Owen and Robert for their trust and partnership. Among many others – too many to list! I’m especially proud of what we’ve accomplished at TIDAL. It’s an amazing story of reinvention and innovation. Not just the business, but with the launch of Upload this week, Tidal has reset the market landscape. Spotlight. Contributions. Little did I know in less than 12 hours it would begin to go viral 🤣 The general consensus is in! We really need to lighten up here on LinkedIn! We need to know what authenticity is and not be afraid to show it! We need to not be afraid of humor or strong language. Dare I say it? We need to not be afraid of a little F**K Bomb! 💣 I’m censoring it in my caption this time because baby steps and meeting the LinkedIn users where they are at 🤣 but the point is our personalities are some of the biggest asset that we can offer an employer! Ones loud mouth and strong language that would be considered a liability if somebody else else’s Golden Goose! If TikTok has taught us anything. It should be that across all platforms and all walks of life. We should strive to be our most authentic selves! ♥️🙏

Cat Nygaard liked thisCat Nygaard liked this🎉 Today I’m celebrating 10 years in the UK! 🇬🇧 A decade ago, I arrived with just 4 suitcases, not knowing what the future would hold. Reflecting on the journey, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities, challenges, and growth this chapter has brought me. Here are some of the big milestones from the past 10 years: ✅ Started as the first design + product recruiter outside the US for Facebook ✅ Hired designers from 30+ countries for Meta’s offices across EMEA + APAC ✅ Became a certified, accredited coach ✅ Took 6 months off for a neurological illness (fully recovered now 🙌) ✅ Became a UK citizen ✅ Survived a pandemic (sadly lost a parent to it) ✅ Left Meta ✅ Started my own design + coaching recruitment company Good Maven The UK has been an incredible home, and I’m excited for what the next 10 years will bring.

Cat Nygaard reacted on thisCat Nygaard reacted on this💎 Luxury Fashion Isn’t Dead—But Customer Service Might Be. 💔 After a break from LinkedIn and a trip to Japan, I saw something fascinating: in cities like Tokyo and Osaka, luxury retail is thriving. Stores were bustling, queues stretched around the block, and people (myself included) were shopping. But here’s what stood out—the destinations were different. While a few big heritage brands like CHANEL still had queues, many others looked empty. Meanwhile, pop-ups and multi-brand retailers were where the real energy was. For example: • An AMI Paris Japan 株式会社 pop-up café in Harajuku was creating a frenzy, with locals and tourists queuing for the experience. • DOVER STREET MARKET (INTERNATIONAL) LIMITED Ginza was packed with fashion lovers shopping from a curated mix of local and international brands. • Stores like Nubian (across Tokyo and Osaka) were buzzing with shoppers discovering emerging labels alongside high-end brands like Loewe, Jacquemus, and Vetements. And here’s the kicker: it’s not just the VAT-free perks, the novelty of travel shopping, or the favourable currency exchange. For me, the magic was in the customer service. 🇯🇵 In Japan, retail feels like an art form: ✨ Sales staff are attentive but never pushy. ✨ If a product is unavailable, they have thoughtful alternatives ready. ✨ Purchases are beautifully packaged, handed over with genuine gratitude, and customers are walked to the door with impeccable politeness. Compare that to my recent experiences in Europe: 🚫 At Louis Vuitton in France, I queued outside (while the store was empty) and left because of rude staff. 🚫 At Prada in Rome, a sales associate shoved an iPad in my face, prioritising data collection over customer care and favouring Chinese shoppers while I was ready to spend. 🚫 At a Louis Vuitton Pharrell launch in London, a friend’s expensive purchase was poorly packaged, and the follow-up was aggressive upselling over WhatsApp. It’s no wonder that even though prices have risen, some stores are struggling to drive traffic. The truth is, the aspirational shopper isn’t dead—we’re just waiting for a reason to come back. Japan’s luxury success offers a roadmap: 1️⃣ Justify the price. With exceptional service and meaningful customer care. 2️⃣ Inspire discovery. Through innovative and thoughtfully curated retail spaces. Where are the stores in Europe offering this? The West has so much to learn from Japan—not just about luxury fashion but about making every customer feel valued. 💬 What’s your take? Delighted to share I've added product marketing for Shopify's developer platform to my scope, and I am excited to hire a senior lead for the team. I'm looking for a skilled technical storyteller who can communicate the breadth of Shopify's platform capabilities to a range of developer audiences, from CTOs to indie devs building their app businesses from scratch. You'll work closely with stellar product leaders like Eytan Seidman and Jonathan Zazove and play a leading role in product GTMs and developer community events, like our flagship event Editions.dev. This is not a people manager role but you will set the bar for what good looks like in developer marketing for the entire company. We like to do things differently at Shopify—I know everyone says that about their company—but I really mean it. There are no playbooks and very few sacred marketing rules here.
