What does ‘All In’ look like in practice? For us, it’s action beyond the studio. In FY25, 64 of our Australian projects were designed with meaningful First Nations engagement — that’s 36% of projects across Australia. We worked with 47 First Nations partners and collaborators across our projects and spent $330,000 with First Nations suppliers in FY25. It’s also learning together in our studios — from the weaving workshop in our Kurilpa studio to a Bushtukka Workshop with Cassie Fisher Patterson in our Naarm studio — creating space for conversation, exchange and a deeper connection to Country. These initiatives shape how we design, who we work with and the value we create with communities. 🔗 Learn more about our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) here: https://lnkd.in/gZDmpZ2T #NationalReconciliationWeek #NRW2026 #AllIn #Reconciliation #FirstNations #DesignImpact #InnovateRAP #ReconciliationAustralia

Leading international design practice with studios in Australia, Asia, UK and the US. We are a Certified B Corp.
About us
We are a leading international design practice with studios in Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Our purpose is to create a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love. Our design values are shared globally across all our studios, by the talented people who work in them: architects, interior designers, landscape architects, urban designers, planners and specialist consultants. We work across a broad range of scales, from the interior design of a boutique retail store through to major public architecture and strategic urban planning for cities. And we work together in integrated design teams because they produce the best outcomes for our clients. Our focus is on people and how we create better, more meaningful experiences for them. We do that through creative, holistic thinking, a deep knowledge base and a rigorous design process. We judge the success of the buildings and places we design by the way people use and enjoy them - the clients who commission them, the people who inhabit them. We are a Certified B Corp. We’ve been selected as part of the winning delivery team with John Holland as the preferred partner for the Sydney Metro West Linewide project — a transformative project set to redefine transport across Sydney’s west. The 24-kilometre underground metro railway will connect Sydney and Parramatta CBDs through to Westmead, delivering critical rail infrastructure and systems to support faster, more reliable journeys for passengers. Hassell with emerging architecture practice Youssofzay and Hart Pty. Ltd. will lead the architectural design of the Stabling and Maintenance Facility and Rosehill Service Facility — creating spaces that are operationally efficient, resilient, and future-ready, while supporting staff wellbeing and integrating seamlessly with the surrounding urban environment. We’re proud to contribute to another stage of this city-shaping project. 📍 Sydney Metro West Linewide project Dharug Country Sydney, Australia 🔗 Discover more of Hassell’s urban transport projects here: https://lnkd.in/gTcnRwby 📷 Image by WhitesideVFX #UrbanTransport #SydneyMetro #RailDesign #CityShapingArchitecture

Following National Sorry Day on 26 May, today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week. From 27 May to 3 June, people across Australia will come together to learn, listen and take part in reconciliation — through shared histories, cultures, achievements and action. This year’s theme, All In, asks us to step forward and take action. At Hassell, that means looking closely at how we work, who we work with and the relationships we build through design. It means making space for First Nations voices, backing First Nations partners, collaborators, suppliers and businesses, and showing up beyond our studios. We encourage our people, clients and communities to attend local National Reconciliation Week events, explore Reconciliation Australia’s resources, and support First Nations-led work in the places where we live and practice. This week also marks an important next step for Hassell with the launch of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with Reconciliation Australia. 🔗 Learn more about our Innovate RAP here: https://lnkd.in/gZDmpZ2T Birrunga Gallery Elysia Love-Anderson #NationalReconciliationWeek #NRW2026 #AllIn #Reconciliation #FirstNations #DesignImpact #InnovateRAP #ReconciliationAustralia

At Boorloo Bridge, located by the Swan River on Whadjuk Noongar Country in Perth, Australia, the landscape is designed to shift your focus to the world around you via a series of moments that invite people to slow down, step aside, and connect with nature. Native flora forms the backdrop to this experience. More than 100,000 plantings frame the journey — restoring habitat while creating a changing, seasonal landscape. Interspersed along the route developed in close collaboration with the Matagarup Elders Group, are terrace steps, seating and informal gathering spaces that encourage a different pace and a deeper awareness of place. 🔗 Learn more about Hassell’s landscape and urban design strategy here: https://lnkd.in/gcQ5p2cG 📷 Photography by Robert Frith Main Roads Western Australia #LandscapeArchitecture #UrbanDesign #CityMaking #ConnectionToCountry #Perth #PublicRealm

Legal practice runs on discretion. But a workplace that's all closed doors and dark corridors doesn't serve anyone - not the people working in it, nor the clients walking through it. When Sackers asked us to reimagine their London office, the brief was clear: more light, better flow, and a workplace that reflects how the firm operates today. Clearer sightlines, a repositioned reception, and spaces ranging from quiet retreat rooms to open areas for collaboration. Existing elements were kept and adapted, furniture reupholstered, partitions retained and lighting reused, while a bespoke mural anchoring the reception introduces a personality the old layout never allowed for. 🔗 Explore more of our workplace designs here: https://lnkd.in/gw86Eu7Z 📷 Photography by Hufton+Crow #WorkplaceDesign #InteriorDesign #Architecture #Heritage #WorkplaceStrategy

After a rewarding journey of carefully considered design and adaptation, we're proud to share that The Lands by Capella has won the Architecture Award at this year's National Trust Heritage Awards, NSW. In collaboration with heritage architects Purcell Architecture, the building’s transformation into a world-class hospitality destination has enabled Sydneysiders and visitors to discover its storied past for the very first time. We’ve unlocked new life without compromising what makes this grand sandstone building so remarkable. "At Pontiac Land Group, we have always seen our role as custodians and stewards of this site, recognising that transforming it into The Lands by Capella was never just a project — it was a profound responsibility to the people of Sydney. Restoring the Lands Building required more than technical expertise. It demanded patience, care, and a deep respect for the legacy embedded within its walls." - David Tsang, CEO Pontiac Land Group. This recognition affirms the powerful role adaptive reuse can play in regenerating treasured heritage assets and returning them to public life. Congratulations to everyone involved — Pontiac Land Group, Purcell, Built, Urbis, Essence Project Management and NSW Government. 🔗 Discover The Lands by Capella here: https://lnkd.in/gTSVHmyh 📷 Images 1-2: Photography by Nicole England Image 3: Photography by Timothy Kaye #CapellaSydney #TheLandsByCapella #AdaptiveReuse #HeritageArchitecture #SandstonePrecinct

At the heart of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which maps our commitments to embedding First Nations knowledges into our practice, lies a unique visual narrative by Kamilaroi artist Elysia Love-Anderson. Through Birrunga Gallery's Cultural Creative Development Program, Elysia’s bespoke piece for Hassell’s RAP serves as a visual guide, grounding our strategy in a clear and tangible story. Set against a bold ‘Blak’ background — a direct recognition of Australian land — the work features layers of earthy tones that mirror Hassell’s commitment to regenerative design. Central to the composition is a spiral within the meeting place where our studios in Kurilpa (Brisbane), Naarm (Melbourne), Boorloo (Perth), and Gadigal (Sydney) intersect with Traditional Custodians. Through vibrant colourful lines, Elysia captures the forward momentum of our practice as we move toward a future defined by genuine advocacy and cultural respect. 🔗 Discover our RAP commitments and Elysia’s work by downloading Hassell’s Innovate RAP: https://lnkd.in/gZDmpZ2T Reconciliation Australia #Reconciliation #FirstNations #DesignImpact #Hassell #InnovateRAP #ReconciliationAustralia

London, Tokyo, Moscow, Paris — all have variations of the same idea. A rail loop that ties a city together. London's is 27 kilometres. Now imagine one at 380 kilometres. Our Hong Kong Managing Principal Peter Morley makes the case for a continuous rail loop through the Greater Bay Area — a region of 86 million people, nine mainland cities, and two Special Administrative Regions that already has over 2,000 km of rail infrastructure. The bones are largely there. What's missing is the connective tissue. The GBA Loop wouldn't just be the world's longest urban rail circuit. It would be the first designed to function at the scale of a megalopolis — threading through some of the world's most densely populated corridors, crossing border controls, and turning a complex web of overlapping networks into something people can actually navigate and feel. The infrastructure is already there. The vision is what remains to be built. 🔗 Explore the full thinking behind the GBA Loop here: https://lnkd.in/gbV7jbRF #UrbanDesign #Transport #Infrastructure #GreaterBayArea #CityPlanning #Rail #UrbanTransport

Our first Designing for Impact report includes a transparent look at our carbon performance. From the massive carbon-saving potential of repurposing existing structures like the Michael Kirby Building at Macquarie University in Sydney to the 90% material reuse at Australia Post’s new home in Melbourne, we’re demonstrating the power of circular thinking. We’re proving that low-carbon solutions can be beautiful, functional, and cost-effective. This is how we help our clients reach their climate goals: through innovation that refuses to compromise on design quality. 🔗 Dive into our full impact: https://lnkd.in/gBxUevXe #ImpactReport #RegenerativeDesign #DesignForGood #BCorp #Architecture

Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel is a world-class rail network designed to keep the city moving and its people connected. Beyond the infrastructure, it's the experience that sets it apart. Generous, open stations built for the people who move through them every day, are flooded with natural light. In the words of one local passenger, “They’re beautiful. Look around. This is not what a conventional train station looks like...” 🔗 Discover more on Metro Tunnel: https://lnkd.in/gfSpMWcM 🎥 Video by Jim Stephenson The Metro Tunnel is a collaboration between leading international architecture design practices Hassell, WW+P Architects and RSHP.
