  • Making space for children in our growing cities doesn't happen by accident. When the State Library of Queensland’s innovative literacy program needed a new home, we worked together to reimagine 'the Corner' in a visible location with direct access to a new facility for parents and carers. Now accessible from its own front door address – a shady canopy tucked within landscaping on Stanley Place – the Corner functions as an open, indoor ‘plaza’ for play and storytelling, surrounded by smaller reading nooks and a new ‘studio’ for making. The diverse spaces are designed to provide as many play and social experiences as possible, to prompt neurological development through sensory experience and active play. A joyous project to collaborate on, and even more so to photograph. #Brisbane

  • Uniting Waverley is a landmark precinct in Sydney’s eastern suburbs that balances fine-grain detailing with a resolved and integrated masterplan vision. Embracing its role as a gateway to the cherished heritage grounds, a sculptural corner building brings together contemporary living, heritage celebration and civic presence in a bold urban gesture that anchors and serves the community. The form bends to frame and reveal sightlines around the building while facilitating privacy and noise protection for residents. The site is rare in Sydney, with expansive landscaping and existing heritage buildings. Seven new apartment buildings are sited across this landscape, ensuring senior members of our community can age in place, within walking distance of healthcare and amenity.

  • Along Queensland’s coastline, shifting demographics are pushing towns to redefine what waterfront living should be. Townsville is no exception. Vertical living for downsizers and seniors offers community, connection to nature and an everyday relationship with the ocean. “Our vision centres on creating an activated village - a place where life unfolds along a waterfront boardwalk.” - Emili Fox, Principal A series of buildings embrace 360‑degree views, offering a diverse mix of homes: serviced apartments, generous townhouses, oversized residences, and luxury penthouses. Anchored by a sunset terrace and deli‑café, the precinct is designed as a lively, connected coastal community. #VerticalLiving

  • As new development fuels the growth of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the public realm is evolving to provide greater amenity to the local community. Our Landscape team delivered this park as part of the second stage of Meriton’s development on the former British American Tobacco Australia (BATA) site. The landscape vision revolved around a new communal open space and drawcard for celebration, play, discovery and leisure. A rich mix of public spaces, the design comprises tree-lined through-site links and diverse ‘moments’ like picnic shelters, seating nooks, kick-about spaces and a playground. The carefully curated palette of native planting features species from the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub, an endangered planting community endemic to the area.

  • Situated on a mixed-use industrial site, McMahon Services head office provided our Interiors team with the ultimate renewal challenge. A new mezzanine and statement spiral stair physically and visually connect floors, while a welcoming “main street” links reception, café and work zones, encouraging informal interaction between teams. Through the careful integration of existing buildings, new interventions and reuse, delivered over three phases - the workplace remained operational. A testament to the collaborative relationship between our project team and client team. Once a mechanical workshop, now a people-centred #workplace.

Cities are always changing, and Sydney is entering a new era of multi‑residential living. How can design hold on to the memory of a neighbourhood? “Shaped by place, community and a more nuanced understanding of how people want to live – these new precincts have a unique opportunity to be grounded in local character.” - Emili Fox, Principal Located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the multi-residential development delivers gentle density, ensuring every residence can access harbour views, dual aspect, and cross‑ventilation, with generous terraces and additional amenities enhancing liveability. This project creates a vibrant focal point for blending sophisticated public space with the ease of modern Australian living. #Living #MultiRes #Sydney

Our Sydney studio is celebrating three projects shortlisted in the 2026 NSW Architecture Awards. Shortlisted in the Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing category, The Cambridge is a testament to the changing demographics of our cities. A true multi-generational precinct with aged care, senior living, a primary school and church on one city site. The project was developed by Levande in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay. Optus O Pavilion is shortlisted in the Small Project Architecture category. Imagined as a delicate insertion to an office campus, the modest project reframes the campus arrival. The pavilion achieved ambitious sustainability goals through materiality, landscaping and solar response. UNSW’s Health Translation Hub is shortlisted in the Educational Architecture category. Refined and sculptural, the architecture references local landscapes to create a unique sense of place as a beacon for health and research in the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct. Congratulations to our project teams, and the shortlisted entrants, and good luck! Australian Institute of Architects #Awards #Sydney

  • New artist impressions for Bankstown Hospital have been released, revealing a hospital shaped by the community it serves. Marking a significant milestone in delivering a contemporary health facility to the south-west of Sydney, the $2 billion hospital brings together emergency, operating theatres and inpatient care within a modern, multi-storey hospital designed to support a growing and diverse community. “The green plaza and harmonious colour palette reflect local geology, native canopies and expansive skies which celebrate a deep First Nations connection to place as well as a rich response to the colour, life and vibrancy that is uniquely Bankstown.” - Kim Small, Principal    Located in the heart of Bankstown’s CBD, the hospital has been designed as a city-shaping facility connected to transport networks, including bus, train and the future Sydney Metro. The project represents the largest single capital works investment in a public hospital in NSW history – setting a new benchmark for the delivery of civic health infrastructure. Architectus and Billard Leece Partnership are proud to be working with NSW Health Infrastructure, South Western Sydney Local Health District to deliver a state-of-the-art health campus.    ASPECT Studios | Yerrabingin Pty Ltd #DesignMatters #Health
