EF’s portfolio is now collectively valued at over $16B, and includes companies such as Aztec, Cleo, Magdrive, Neptune, Omnea, Opply, PolyAI, Tractable, and many more. EF is backed by some of the world's leading founders and investors, including Founders Fund, Greylock, John Collison (founder – Stripe), Patrick Collison (founder – Stripe), Reid Hoffman (founder – LinkedIn), Eric Schmidt (former CEO - Google), Demis Hassabis (founder – Google DeepMind ), Taavet Hinrikus (founder – Wise), Matt Mullenweg (founder – WordPress), Charlie Songhurst (Board member – Meta), Christa Davies (Board member – Stripe), Lachy Groom (founder – Physical Intelligence), Aidan Gomez (founder – Cohere), Mati Staniszewski (founder – ElevenLabs), Danny Rimer (Partner - Index Ventures), Matt Cohler (former General Partner - Benchmark). I've been thinking about what separates the people who build something that matters from those who don't. It's rarely a head start. Some of the most driven founders I've met came into the room knowing they weren't first. Most of them were not handed the obvious path, and that's often the thing that made them want to become unstoppable. Not being first doesn't disqualify you. For the right person, it's the whole point. The Bridge exists for people like that. People who feel capable of more than their current environment allows. Who want to find their life's work, surrounded by others who match their level of ambition, single-mindedness, and hunger. If that's you, you know it. The deadline for the Bridge is this Monday. • The most important updates aren’t always fundraises. Here’s what else happened across the EF portfolio this month: - Noah Labs’ Vox™ received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, accelerating its path to transform heart failure care. - General Reasoning launched OpenReward, an open platform for serving reinforcement learning environments at scale. - Spore.Bio unveiled TMSI™, bringing microbiology analysis from days down to minutes. - Limbic published a breakthrough study in Nature Portfolio, turning frontier language models into behavioral health specialists. - Kyron.bio announced a strategic partnership with Servier to advance precision glycosylation in antibody therapeutics. Excited for April.

After chatting with 100+ people at Entrepreneurs First, I have realised that most ambitious people aren't stuck because they lack ability—they’re stuck because they believe the wrong things. The things which they believe in sound reasonable. That’s the problem. They’re not constraints—they’re beliefs. And many of them are quietly wrong. I have tried to condense those insights into an article. Link below :)

  • Last January, we asked Matt: “What’s next for Rama?” His answer: close our seed round quickly so we can get back to our customers. Yesterday, they announced a $3M round to rebuild the electronic component supply chain. Founded by Matt and Aidan, Rama is rethinking how electronic components are sourced and distributed, making it faster and more reliable to build physical products at scale. The round was led by Wischoff Ventures, with participation from Stage 2, Liquid2, Rebellion Ventures and leading angels. Proud to back them from day zero at EF.

At Entrepreneurs First we’re obsessed with the power of cofounders. Magic doesn’t come from an idea, it comes from the unique combinations of people and what they can create. I’ve watched individuals go from stuck to unstoppable almost overnight. Not because they worked harder, but because they found the right counterpart. I’ve been lucky enough to experience this with Matt Clifford. From taking our earliest cohorts to 10 Downing Street (just to prove EF was legit 😂 ), to opening our first office in San Francisco over a decade later. Matt has fundamentally changed how I think, how I operate, and what I believe is possible. And that’s the thing about great cofounders, they don’t just help you build a company, they change your trajectory. If you want to build something ambitious, WHO you build with might be the most important decision you make. Looking for a cofounder? DM me and see how EF can help.

  • Most people underestimate how much environment shapes outcomes. The Bay Area is different, you have: > Investor velocity > Peer competition > Quality of customers > Access to information > Role models of ambition Stack these, and your trajectory changes. In this conversation with Charlie Songhurst, we break down why. Full episode in the comments.

3 years ago, I left my former company, Nestlé, with a conviction: the Petri dish belongs to the past. Our industry needs something radically different. I met Maxime Mistretta, PhD. and Mohamed Tazi. We built Spore.Bio and started iterating. It took us 3 years. Today, a new technology is born: introducing TMSI™ — Transformer-Based Multimodal Spectral Imaging. Microbiology is complex. Millions of microorganisms. Billions of matrices. Trillions of combinations. We built a deep learning model capable of grasping it all, delivering reliable quantification, detection, and identification in 10 minutes instead of days. And in just 3 years, we’ve generated and published validation data at a speed never seen before in microbiology history. This is the first step toward a new chapter for our industry. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll publish more. Much more. We’re just getting started.
