IKEA opens a flagship store in London's Oxford Street today, one of its new breed of city-stores. So it's a good time to reshare this video we did with Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group, which runs IKEA's global retail arm for our My Business Leader Secret series. He was visiting the store for a site inspection last autumn when we filmed this with him. Ikea's Ingka Group has annual revenues of more than €40bn from its global retail empire. If you want to understand how this store fits into the company's broader omni-channel strategy, then have a listen to the podcast interview we did with Brodin at the time: https://lnkd.in/eQPnD_nz

👀 Are you a Founder, CEO, or Business Leader looking for an epic challenge and a truly life-enhancing experience? ✨🌍🚴♂️ 🚴 Join the Ride25 Founders Leg 4: Milan to Rome in October 2025! 🧳 This isn't just a cycling trip; it's a mission to cycle from the UK to Australia over 25 years, and you can be a part of the legacy. The Founders are a group following the path of the Pioneers, who've already cycled over 4,400 miles to Baku. 🚵 This leg, from Milan to Rome, spans 4.5 days of cycling from October 2nd to 6th, 2025. You'll cover 727 km with 6,793m of climbing, traversing the diverse and stunning landscapes of Italy. Prepare for a journey through the flat Emilia-Romagna region before tackling the beautiful rolling Tuscan hills, vineyards, and hilltop villages. You'll cross the Apennine Mountains and explore Umbria. Experience nights in historic cities like Piacenza, Bologna, Figline Valdarno, and the spectacular 13th-century city of Orvieto. The challenge is significant, but the reward is immense. The ride is well-supported with crew vehicles, bike mechanics, and first aiders available to help keep you rolling. Navigation is via GPS or apps as the route is not signposted, allowing you to ride at your own speed. All your baggage and bike boxes are transported each day. 👫 Beyond the personal challenge and breathtaking scenery, you'll be riding alongside like-minded Founders and business leaders. It's an incredible opportunity for inspiring conversations and making great connections. 🤝 But the most impactful part? You'll be riding for 1moreChild, a charity enabling street children in Jinja, Uganda, to go to school and prosper. Every participant covers their own costs, ensuring 100% of all sponsorship money goes directly to the charity with no western overheads or admin costs. Ride25 trips are 1moreChild's most significant fundraising initiative, having raised nearly £2m so far and taken over 200+ children off the streets. As riders say, contributing to 1moreChild provides a priceless feeling of pride. This adventure has been described by participants as a "life-enhancing experience", finding "life-affirming magic" in the journey and community. It's a chance to make "great friends and business contacts", explore the world by bike, keep fit, and support a vital cause. The iconic finish awaits you at the Vatican in Rome, followed by a celebration dinner and maybe a few glasses of Italina vino!! Places are limited, and this experience is highly sought after. Join an amazing community and push your limits for an incredible cause. Only 10 places left! Don't miss your chance to be part of the Founders Leg 4 Milan to Rome. “AI is an incredible development. You've got to engage with it. But the one thing it can't do is imagine.” Sir John Hegarty is a renowned figure in the world of advertising. As co-founder of global advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, he was responsible for world-famous TV and billboard campaigns such as the celebrated 'Vorsprung durch Technik' ads for Audi and the 'Flat Eric' puppet ads for Levi's. Hegarty’s insights on creativity are still in high demand and he currently leads The Business of Creativity course at The Garage Soho. So this week, Dougal Shaw took a trip to Soho to hear his thoughts on the creative process in person. In this episode of My CEO Secret, Hegarty unpacks the role of AI in modern marketing and why utilising it as a collaborative tool can help pave the way to success – but is only one part of the equation. Follow Business Leader for the insights and expertise to you scale up your mid-sized organisation.

Full disclosure; I’m a Clare Roberts OBE fan. The second episode of the Business Leader podcast is a girl chat with a difference. Think of it as a no nonsense discussion about what it really takes to scale a business, the importance of dealing with set backs quickly and the realities of balancing entrepreneurship and motherhood. It’s no fluff, there are several relatable takeaways and it’s also rather amusing. Having said all of that, I know I’ll have at least one disappointed listener given I inadvertently told him over a text exchange that my next guest was ‘really God’. As he fairly pointed out, that would have made one hell of a podcast… divine guests and typos aside, I think you’ll find me true to my word. Clare is ‘really good’, so tune in wherever you usually get your podcasts. #podcast #leadership #entrepreneurship

Exercise, exercise, exercise 🏋️♀️ Not only is it a requirement to stay healthy, but as a business leader it might just be the key ingredient to keep the creative juices flowing. That’s why founder of iconic, industry-disrupting companies like FitFlop, Soap & Glory and Beauty Pie, Marcia Kilgore places it at the top of her list for anyone starting a business. And with such an impressive business acumen behind her, we could certainly all learn a thing or two!
