This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, our office was buzzing with festive energy as we came together to mark this meaningful occasion. 🌙✨ The celebration came to life through the vibrant contributions of our team–from beautifully hand-woven ribbon ketupat decorations and a joyful karaoke session featuring iconic Raya tunes, to engaging games that introduced everyone to popular Raya cookies. 🎤🎶 Events like these are one of the many ways we strive to bring everyone together, strengthening bonds and embracing the rich diversity within SAM! #SingaporeArtMuseum

How does nature reclaim its place after we've left our mark? These secondary forests sit right next to our homes, schools, and street roads—yet we rarely stop to notice them. In 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵, Robert Zhao Renhui invites us to pause and look closer. What traces of the past remain in these landscapes? What can they teach us about nature’s resilience—and our place within it? Swipe to uncover the hidden layers of our secondary forests at 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵, now on view at SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Plan your visit and learn more at bit.ly/SAM-SeeingForest. #SingaporeArtMuseum #SeeingForest —— 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 is commissioned by the National Arts Council and organised by Singapore Art Museum. 1: Robert Zhao Renhui, thermal image of a herd of deer in the field, still from The Owl, The Travellers and The Cement Drain (2024). SAM is proud to collaborate with ART:DIS for the sixth edition of the Arts and Disability Forum (ADF)!
SAVE THE DATE 🗓️ The Arts and Disability Forum (ADF) returns for its sixth edition, bringing together voices from across the region to share our connected and diverse journeys toward a more inclusive future in the arts. Covering areas such as programming, professional development, representation and accessibility, attendees will hear from individuals with lived experiences alongside perspectives from arts practitioners and institutions, celebrating the rich diversity that strengthens the intersection of arts and disability. Plenaries are held on 25 March 2025 at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, with workshops and learning journeys running through 26 – 29 March at various locations. Organised by ART:DIS, supported by National Arts Council, with programme partner The Esplanade Co Ltd, knowledge partner Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts-University of the Arts Singapore, and programme collaborators National Gallery Singapore, Singapore Art Museum and National Heritage Board, let's explore and unpack the soft barriers limiting Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in arts and culture. Stay tuned for more!

Our recent Dinner and Dance was a nostalgic blast from the past! 🎉📀 The night was filled with retro vibes as we grooved to classic tunes, showed off our knowledge of iconic '80s movies and music in a trivia quiz, and of course, felt our hearts race during the highly anticipated Lucky Draw—eager for the big win! It was truly an unforgettable evening that reflected the dynamic and creative spirit that we deeply value at SAM! ✨ #SingaporeArtMuseum

We are deeply grateful for the generous donations to the Singapore Art Museum’s collection, including key works from the MaGMA Collection by celebrated artists Sopheap Pich and David Chan. At SAM, our mission is to build a distinct and varied collection that not only reflects perspectives from Southeast Asia but also engages with global artistic dialogues. These contributions enhance our ability to showcase significant regional artistic developments and situate them in global contemporary art practices, offering diverse perspectives for audiences in Singapore and beyond.
It started with a serendipitous encounter with Roy Lichtenstein's ‘Desk Calendar'. Mark Goh and Guillaume Levy-Lambert, co-founders of the MaGMA Collection, were so moved that the duo decided to start collecting seriously so that they could leave future generations with their story through art. 25 years later, they took the next step by donating two large artworks from their collection to Singapore Art Museum – Delta (2007) by Sopheap Pich and Animal Roulette (2005) by David Chan – for more audiences to enjoy. By doing so, Mark and Guillaume have enriched the museum's collection and ensured that shared artistic experiences are made more accessible to all. For their efforts, they were recognised as Distinguished Patron of the Arts (Individual) at this year's Patron of the Arts Awards.
