The Geospatial World Forum (GWF) is the place to share great pioneer work and best practices! That’s why my con terra GmbH colleague Francisco Girón Gesteira and I went this week to #Madrid 🇪🇸 talking about the first #Statewide #DigitalTwins using #3D #Meshes #BIM #Drones #OpenData we helped to build in #Germany I had the honour to present 3 Statewide Digital Twins that we built in Germany in close #partnership with - The Ministry of the Interieur of the State of North-Rhine-Westfalia, Germany Ministerium des Innern des Landes NRW / Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW) / GeoBasis.NRW with outstanding support of André Caffier Stefan Sandmann and more - Landesamt für Geobasisinformation Sachsen (GeoSN) – the Surveying Agency of state of #Saxony in Germany – with outstanding support of Ronny Zienert Ria Liebscher Stefan Wiemann and more - our partners Esri Konrad Wenzel Kristin Klimek Esri Deutschland Juergen Schomakers Marko Prisky Sebastian Pache and more Statewide Digital Twins in 3D are real #gamechanger – they enable #cooperation and #partnerships in a unique way and necessary to turn #GeospatialDataInfrastuctures into #GeospatialKnowledgeInfrastructures The 3D Digital Twin for Disaster Risk Management in NRW and the PoC the #DigitalTwinSaxony (built with support of DB InfraGO Candy Friauf and Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) Paul Becker Anja Hopfstock ) are Proofing that answering complex questions of our time is possible also for non-GIS experts. We proudly conclude our participation at Geospatial World Forum (GWF) organized by Geospatial World  in Madrid, where the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) showcased its leading initiatives in satellite development and smart geospatial technologies. This year’s participation was particularly unique, featuring an academic contribution from the Department of Geography and Urban Sustainability at United Arab Emirates University, which presented a distinguished scientific research projects at NSSTC booth. The event also highlighted NSSTC’s ongoing efforts in advancing geospatial data processing systems and enhancing its readiness to support modern applications, including environmental monitoring, natural resource management, and sustainability driven initiatives. Through this participation, NSSTC reaffirms its commitment to fostering scientific research and expanding its collaborations with academic and industry stakeholders. I had the pleasure of moderating a powerful session at the GWF #AEC Summit in #Madrid, focused on BIM and Digital Twin Convergence for Resilient Buildings and Campus Infrastructure. It was an honor to guide the conversation with industry leaders who each brought a unique perspective: • Darin Welch emphasized that “data is the new currency”, reshaping how we design, operate, and future-proof our assets. • Gary Cowan highlighted the role of digital realities in transforming construction workflows and enabling immersive planning. • Tareq Latayfeh made a strong case for aligning BIM project delivery with ESG objectives, turning sustainability into strategy. • Selim Edde demonstrated how BIM-GIS integration supports KSA’s Vision 2030, powering smarter infrastructure at scale. I’ve had the honor of speaking at many prestigious international conferences across the region, often returning multiple times. But the experience with the Geospatial World team has always stood out — it truly feels like family. Over nearly five years, we’ve shared countless successful sessions and memorable moments together. This time, due to unforeseen circumstances, Asmaa Abouleish and the little, Ola, were unable to attend, although they were invited. I was genuinely touched — and honestly a bit surprised — by how many of you, including the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) organizers and many fellow speakers, asked about them. It meant a lot, even though I felt a little embarrassed not having them by my side. A heartfelt thank you to Sanjay Kumar , Ananyaa Narain , Titas Roy , Sonal kumar and the entire team for yet another flawlessly organized event — this time in the beautiful setting of Madrid, Spain. This week 📅 22-25 April 2025, at the Geospatial World Forum in Madrid, the Assistant Director-General of United Nations Educational 📖, Scientific🔭 and Cultural ⛩️ Organization (UNESCO), Ms. Stefania Giannini conveyed in a video message the importance of geospatial information management and tools 📍🗺️🛰️ for effective education policy as it helps understand where progress is made, where inequalities persist, how we can allocate resources and reach learners who need it most. "To measure progress on SDG4 (Education), we must understand what is happening in each specific district, each school, each community, and this is where geospatial becomes absolutely indispensable." What an incredible four days at the Geospatial World Forum! The energy, ideas, and connections have left us excited for the future. It was a joy to chat with industry leaders, customers, and new friends alike, diving into current challenges, and exploring exciting future partnerships. There’s nothing quite like a room full of people who truly get what you do, and are just as excited about where it’s all going. These kinds of events remind us how important collaboration is, not just across organisations, but within our own team.
