How prepared is your country to lead in the digital and geospatial future? Last week, I had the privilege of participating in the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) 2025 in #Madrid, #Spain. It was an inspiring event, bringing together the global geospatial community to exchange insights, innovations and visions for the future. One of the highlights was the release of the Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure (GKI) Readiness Index 2025 Report, published by Geospatial World . I was fortunate to receive both a PDF and a hard copy during the event, and I would like to share some key takeaways. The GKI Readiness Index 2025 serves as a strategic benchmarking tool, evaluating the ability of 75 countries to develop, maintain, and leverage geospatial knowledge infrastructures. It assesses multiple dimensions, including data ecosystems, technological infrastructure, institutional frameworks, and policy environments, to determine how deeply geospatial capabilities are embedded within national development priorities and digital transformation agendas. Here are the top 10 countries in the 2025 rankings: 1️⃣ United States 2️⃣ United Kingdom 3️⃣ Germany 4️⃣ South Korea 5️⃣ The Netherlands 6️⃣ Singapore 7️⃣ Sweden 8️⃣ Canada 9️⃣ Saudi Arabia 🔟 Japan Several countries have made remarkable progress as you can see in the picture: #Sweden advanced from 20th place in 2018 to 7th place in 2025. #SaudiArabia rose from 32nd in 2022 to 9th in 2025. #SouthKorea jumped from 25th in 2022 to an impressive 4th place this year. #Japan, #India, #NewZealand and #UAE have made significant leaps. These movements reflect a growing global recognition of geospatial knowledge as a key enabler of economic resilience, innovation, and governance excellence. Where does your country stand in this global race toward geospatial leadership? #geodata #geoinformation #geospatial #knowledge #infrastructure #GWF #GWF25 #GeospatialWorldForum

On my way back to Germany after presenting at the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) #GWF2025 in the hydrospatial summit where we discussed how Geospatial tools are aiding in MRV of the 71% of our planet! Lovely to meet familiar faces and new folks. If you missed my presentation and are interested in how we at Marble Imaging use EO for coastal resilience and food security, reach out and get in touch!

The Geospatial World Forum (GWF) is the place to share great pioneer work and best practices! That’s why my con terra GmbH colleague Francisco Girón Gesteira and I went this week to #Madrid 🇪🇸 talking about the first #Statewide #DigitalTwins using #3D #Meshes #BIM #Drones #OpenData we helped to build in #Germany I had the honour to present 3 Statewide Digital Twins that we built in Germany in close #partnership with - The Ministry of the Interieur of the State of North-Rhine-Westfalia, Germany Ministerium des Innern des Landes NRW / Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW) / GeoBasis.NRW with outstanding support of André Caffier Stefan Sandmann and more - Landesamt für Geobasisinformation Sachsen (GeoSN) – the Surveying Agency of state of #Saxony in Germany – with outstanding support of Ronny Zienert Ria Liebscher Stefan Wiemann and more - our partners Esri Konrad Wenzel Kristin Klimek Esri Deutschland Juergen Schomakers Marko Prisky Sebastian Pache and more Statewide Digital Twins in 3D are real #gamechanger – they enable #cooperation and #partnerships in a unique way and necessary to turn #GeospatialDataInfrastuctures into #GeospatialKnowledgeInfrastructures The 3D Digital Twin for Disaster Risk Management in NRW and the PoC the #DigitalTwinSaxony (built with support of DB InfraGO Candy Friauf and Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) Paul Becker Anja Hopfstock ) are Proofing that answering complex questions of our time is possible also for non-GIS experts. The Open #DigitalTwinNRW - one of the world largest 3D Meshes so far – is up and running since Sep 2024 and available at dz.nrw.de Thank you Sanjay Kumar and your amazing #GeospatialWorldForum team for giving us the opportunity to share this with the global geospatial community. Special thanks to Sonal kumar and Titas Roy for the great organization and support before and during the session. Thank you John Wilson for the great moderation all other speakers and panelists for your great insights Seng-Chuan Tan Tang Hsiao Ling Amr Raafat Dan Isaacs Chris Jackson Elliot Hartley Mohamed Elhabiby and all participants of the #GWF2025 #AEC #Summit for the fruitful discussions. Special Thanks goes to all projects contributors especially to Karl Wiesmann Holger Fritze Thore Fechner Mark Doering Jens Frolik and many more Fun fact: we presented in the room named #Dresden and #Stuttgart - the names of some of the cities where the support was coming from! I couldn’t have chosen better rooms 🙏😊

Had a great time at Geospatial World Forum 2025 in Madrid, where I joined as a delegate from Azercosmos. Also got to speak at the Digital Agriculture Innovations and Advancements session — always exciting to talk about how we’re building real, product-driven solutions using geospatial tech to support the future of agriculture. Working at the intersection of space, data, and product has been a wild ride — and events like this just remind me how much potential there still is to unlock. #GeospatialWorldForum #Azercosmos #GeospatialProducts #DigitalAgriculture #ProductThinking #RemoteSensing #Innovation
