What's New

Last updated

  1. October 29th, 2026: What's New in Medal?

    Homepage

    Not Interested???

Not into a game or a creator? Open a clip's menu on Home and pick Not Interested to mute that game or hide that poster. You can undo it from the same menu or from Settings > Feed Preferences.

    Library

Change the Game on Many Clips at Once

Right-click a clip, or a whole selection, and use the new Game menu to move it to the right game. It's searchable and works on imports, screen captures, edited videos and emulator captures, so fixing a batch no longer means opening each clip one at a time.

    Profile

    New Backgrounds

Two new backgrounds just landed, and you can put them on from the desktop app or right from your profile on medal.tv with Edit Profile > Background.

GX Aura is an animated background starring Aura, Opera GX's VTuber. Complete the Opera GX quest before November 1 to unlock it.

Smile and Play comes from Escape from Playtime. Clip the game and post to your profile to finish its quest, and there's a clip contest running alongside it through November 5, with the details at medal.tv/features/escape-from-playtime.

Smile and Play profile background from Escape from Playtime

    New Games With Auto Clipping

Two more games now save your best moments on their own, so the highlight is already in your library when you're done playing.

    • Fine Dining Fraud: kitchen fires, slips, smashes, guests storming out and the health inspector's verdict
    • Crack: discovering the egg, getting eaten by the kraken, facing the parasites and the power outage

    Editor

    Subtitles, Line by Line

Every subtitle line is its own clip on the timeline now, so you can move, trim and split each one. Trimming into the next line shortens it instead of pushing it, so the rest stay in sync with the audio, and timecodes show milliseconds for those quick lines.

    Transitions You Can Time

Select a transition, or drop in a new one, and the Edit panel shows In and Out sliders. You can also drag either edge on the timeline to set exactly how long it runs.

  2. Welcome home (beta)

New Home (beta): more of your friends, new ways to share The new home feed is out today in beta, in the Medal mobile app. Beta means it works today and it will keep changing over the next few weeks. Tell us if you like it or hate it in our Discord here!

    Sessions

Play a game with friends and it lands in your feed, whether anyone hit clip or not. Open it on your phone to see who was there and how long you played. Pull in the clips you took on PC, your friends pull in theirs, and the whole night goes out as one link.

    • Add the clips you captured on PC, straight from your phone
    • One link for the whole session instead of six clip links

Sessions are on by default. If you'd rather keep a game to yourself, turn off Game Status & Stats under Settings > Privacy & Security.

    Game ratings

Finished a game? Say what you thought. Two hours in, the prompt shows up on your phone feed, and everyone who follows you sees your rating the same way you see theirs.

    • Rate the games you love (or don't) right after you play
    • Followers see your rating, and you see theirs
    • Rate games you've already finished. Your ratings live in your profile and on game pages

Do more with the Mobile App

Sign in with the account you use on PC and your clips, friends, and games are already there.

    • See what your friends are playing
    • Log your gaming history
    • Earn exclusive rewards

Grab it on iOS or Android.

    Other fixes & tweaks

    • Fixed the home feed flooding with friend game rating cards
    • Fixed the QR scanner getting stuck after a cancelled sign-in
    • Fixed a crash on Android when a session had no ID
    • Fixed editor exports failing on iOS
    • Fixed the library showing "On your PC" twice when it was empty (iOS)
    • Fixed recorder settings only applying on the next start (Android)
    • Fixed the landscape player swallowing taps (Android)

    Still in beta

This is the first version of the new home feed and it will change. Some cards will move, some will go, and we'll add what you ask for. Send feedback at feedback.medal.tv or in the Medal Discord. We're finally making updates to the home feed and we want to get it right.

  3. Your Controller Can Clip Now!

Summer is winding down and your hotkeys are getting an upgrade. Your controller can clip now, one key can do two things, and you have new control over who tags you.

Every hotkey also has a Tap or Long press setting, so one key can do two jobs: tap it to clip the last 30 seconds, hold it to save a full 3 minutes. Set both up in Settings > Hotkeys.

    long clip sound

    Controller Buttons as Hotkeys

Your controller can trigger Medal now. Bind a clip, a recording, or any other action to a controller input and capture without ever reaching for the keyboard. Mouse buttons work too.

    Favorites Have Moved

You can now Save someone else's clips from anywhere in Medal, and they land in the new Saved section under the Albums tab. Favorites are now for your own content only, and they still work as a library filter.

    favorites

    Choose Who Can Tag You

You decide who is allowed to tag you in a clip. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Who can tag me in a clip and choose nobody, people you follow, or everyone.

    Other Updates

    Stories Load 10x Faster

Stories open roughly ten times faster than they did, and the story player itself is noticeably more responsive while you swipe through.

    Rate Roblox Subgames

You can now rate a Roblox subgame straight from the app on both iOS and Android, so your take on an experience lands where other players will see it.

    Throwback Clips in Your Feed

Android surfaces Throwback cards in your home feed, pulling old clips back up so the good ones do not stay buried in your library.

    Hide Your Riot ID

Your profile has a hide toggle for your Riot ID now, matching how the rest of your connected socials already work.

Volume Control on the Home Player

The home page player has a volume control, so you no longer have to open a clip in full to turn it down.

    Dates on Older Clips

Clips older than six days show an actual date instead of a relative timestamp, which makes scrolling back through your library much easier to read.

    Match Stats on Mobile

CS2 match stats are live in the mobile app, so you can check your performance right where your clips are. Valorant stats show inline on your session cards on Android, and the stats system is now built per-game, so more titles are on the way.

    Library timeline scrollbar

You asked (a lot) for a way to find clips by date, so the library now has a timeline scrollbar. Grab it and scrub through your entire clip history, with year/month marks and a lil date label following you around:

    • You can now drop screenshots into your story, not just clips
    • Post a clip straight to your story right from the posting flow (one less tap, more flexing)
    • A bunch of polish on previews and viewing so the whole thing feels smoother

    Controller Overlay

Similar to our KBM overlay, you can now see your controller inputs right on screen. The controller overlay shows your button presses, trigger pulls, and stick movement live, and it carries through to your clips so viewers can see exactly how you pulled off the play. It works with PS5 and Xbox style controllers, and you can switch it on from your video overlay settings.

Find it in settings > video overlays

    Roblox Subgame Autoclipping Controls

You can now turn autoclipping off for a specific Roblox subgame. Open the auto clipping settings page and toggle any Roblox subgame on or off, so you can coose games to turn on/off without turning off all Roblox autoclipping now!

    Highlights

    Auto-Generated Subtitles

Pull subtitles straight from your clip's audio with no typing. The editor parses spoken audio from your other tracks, and you can group captions into single words or full sentences. Unlimited use, built right into the editor.

Auto Generate Subtitles dialog and generated captions in the Medal editor

    easy

    Unlimited, Full-Quality Uploads

The 20-minute upload cap is gone, so even your longest sessions go up in one piece. Uploads now keep full original quality instead of downscaling to 1440p, so the 4K you recorded is the 4K that lands.

A Premium Badge That Levels Up

Your Premium badge now ranks up the longer you stay subscribed, climbing six tiers from Initiate to Immortal. Each tier has its own look, so your profile shows exactly how long you have been around.

    Editor updates

We went deep on editor performance and stability this week. Loading times are faster, larger projects should feel snappier, and we squashed a bunch of bugs that were making the editor misbehave:

    • Improved project and media loading times
    • General performance improvements for larger projects
    • Fixed failure to load files over 2GB
    • Fixed media failing to initialize when opening an existing project
    • Fixed audio desync
    • Fixed VFX not showing effects for the first few frames when placed at 0:00
    • Fixed renders getting stuck at 100% and failing to save

We're not done, many more optimizations on the way. We also have an unconfirmed fix for missing audio after render; if this is still happening to you, please reach out so we can track it down!

    Other additions:

    • Added a canvas color selector, set your background to whatever vibe you want
    • Added right-click context menu support on the canvas (finally)
    • Added 16:10 aspect ratio support
    • Updated all sidebar panels to newer grid designs

    Video editor updates

There's a large, delicious batch of upgrades fresh outta the video editor:

    editor updates collage Owowow.

    • Added dropdown options when clicking the Medal logo!
    • Rebuilt how aspect ratio and other render settings work for ease of use
    • Rebuilt the color picker so it's not using the native browser control. This includes opacity and color presets!
    • Added a distinct aspect ratio selector to the header
    • Removed the settings cog menu
    • You'll now see a preview of the resolution output and duration before rendering (for peace of mind)
    • Overhauled the sidebar panel for better navigation
    • Streamlined the audio panel for convenience and to be ready for upcoming features
    • The elements tab has a new look and you can search with infinite scroll rather than pages; it now also uses Klipy for GIFs and stickers
    • Fixed a bug forcing smaller media to fit to canvas (e.g. 720p content)
    • Fixed an issue with Zoom sometimes missing properties (thank you /u/Dazzling_Strain_5269!)

    Add a bit of spice

You can now show off your PC on your Medal profile. From potato to POTATO, show 'em what you're playing Roblox on. You can even feature it (or anything else) in the very top of your profile:

PC builder Hint: Check the quest tab to get this animated profile background when you use the "My PC build" widget on your profile. It's animated, really. This is just a picture of it, so it doesn't move, but like, imagine that it is moving. Because it does.

    Misc fixes:

    • Fixed various small tooltip and padding issues (to quote the dev who fixed it: "honestly I don't know how many people will even encounter this", but hey, we see you Rick)
    • Fixed web settings language / locale to overwrite with more than just English
