As there is a lot of misinformation on the internet, I want to stress that Pixel phones also use AI at low zoom settings. Already the Pixel 3 used AI for digital zoom (actually even already the Nexus 5x, but less extreme than the Pixel 3), this was officially confirmed by Google in a blog. So even when you disable Pro zoom, it still uses AI for high zoom factors, but a less extreme AI (even when AI is only used for demosaicing, it is still AI). It is quite noticeable when you see that digital zoom of text produces wrong letters. The dng files are far more natural than the jpgs.

It also doesn't make so much sense to differentiate between "generative AI" and "AI" here. Even when only a single pixel is replaced by AI, it is generative AI, but just for a single pixel because that's how AI works: It guesses(!) how it could be without being restricted to logic / traditional interpolation algorithms.

One of the biggest issues of the camera is that analog binning is always enabled at 2x, 10x (in contrast to Pixel 7 Pro, 8 Pro) and even at 120x in the default 12 megapixel mode. Analog binning makes a 48 megapixel sensor behave like a 12 megapixel one, so you get zero benefits compared with a 12 megapixel sensor (many people confuse analog binning with downsampling), even when you zoom.
Only when you manually enable the 50 megapixel mode, analog binning is disabled at 2x, 10x, 120x and then you also get dng files with a higher resolution at 2x, 10x, 120x.

Yeah it's cool that it allows you to force the full resolution in low light and everyone should do that, but the hardware is weak and software is not that great either so there's really not much point when the results are garbage. Using a modded GCam is this phone's only saving grace.

                The first security chip upgrade since 2021, is there any evaluation for it that you can do? Supposed to be unbreakable using quantum systems.

                  I tried the Pixel 11 Pro XL in a store and portrait mode now supports 50 megapixel. But what's really strange: A YouTuber compared the 11 Pro XL with the 11 Pro and even though both had all updates installed, the portrait mode of the 11 Pro doesn't have a 50 megapixel option allegedly in contrast to the 11 Pro XL.

                      I don't know if there's been a software update or what, but the telephoto camera on my Pixel 11 Pro is focusing WAY closer than indicated in this review. I'm getting a field of view of about 23.5mm x 17.5mm at 5x zoom at the closest focusing distance. The 2 Euro coin in the test scene should fill the entire frame.

                                  a good thing about AI is that incredible amount of bugs have been discovered in Android ecosystem the bad thing the updates still don't work 90% of all devices will never get the updates and some not in time, the play store is really bad, EU have to regulated that working phone can always upgrade to AOSP to be safe, Google is a failed company stay away
